María Lea Carmen Imutan Salonga KLD (born February 22, 1971), better known as Lea Salonga (/ˈleɪə səˈlɒŋɡə/), is a Filipina singer and actress best known for her roles in musical theatre, for supplying the singing voices of two Disney Princesses, and as a recording artist and television performer, especially in the Philippines.
At age 18, she originated in the lead role of Kim in the musical Miss Saigon, first in the West End and then on Broadway, winning the Olivier, Tony and Theatre World Awards, among others. Salonga is the first Filipino artist to sign with an international record label (Atlantic Records in 1993). She is also the first Philippine-based artist to have received a major album release and distribution deal in the United States, and one of the best-selling Filipino artists of all time, having sold over 19 million copies of her albums worldwide.
Salonga was the first actress of Asian descent to play the roles of Éponine and Fantine in the musical Les Misérables on Broadway. She also portrayed Éponine and Fantine, respectively, in the musical's 10th and 25th anniversary concerts in London. She provided the singing voices of two official Disney Princesses: Jasmine in Aladdin (1992) and Fa Mulan in Mulan (1998). She was named a Disney Legend in 2011 for her work with The Walt Disney Company. Salonga starred as Mei-li in the 2002 Broadway version of Flower Drum Song. She has played numerous other stage, film and TV roles in the US, the Philippines and elsewhere. She has toured widely in the title role of Cinderella, among other roles, and as a concert artist. In 2015, she returned to Broadway in Allegiance.

PRESIDENT DUTERTE: Duterte has expressed his desire to build on the stellar accomplishments of the administration of outgoing president Benigno Aquino III, particularly the latter’s good governance initiatives and critical structural reforms that transformed the Philippines from being “the sick man of Asia” into “Asia’s rising tiger.” Of his ten-point socioeconomic agenda revealed on Monday, June 20, for example, his first point was to continue and maintain current macroeconomic policies, including fiscal, monetary and trade policies. However, he intends to depart from Aquino’s legacy of instituting slow but steady macroeconomic reform by advancing an economic agenda which seeks to upgrade, accelerate as well as expand the government’s basic services that shall render the country’s macro...

In this week's episode of Show People, the Tony winner sits down with Broadway.com Editor-in-Chief Paul Wontorek to chat about her very un-Disney Princess-like love of splicer-slaying video games, fist-pumping the Tony Awards 20 years after her emotional win and why she would love to guest on Glee playing mom to her talented fellow Filipina, Charice Pempengco.

FUN HOME is the most awarded and acclaimed musical of 2015, winning 5 Tony Awards including Best Musical. When her father dies unexpectedly, graphic novelist Alison dives deep into her past to tell the story of the volatile, brilliant, one-of-a-kind man whose temperament and secrets defined her family and her life. Moving between past and present, Alison relives her unique childhood playing at the family’s Bechdel Funeral Home, her growing understanding of her own sexuality, and the looming, unanswerable questions about her father’s hidden desires. FUN HOME is a refreshingly honest, wholly original musical about seeing your parents through grown-up eyes. Based on Alison Bechdel's best-selling graphic memoir, FUN HOME features music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by Lisa Kron. The Ne...

Here we are at the crossroads again
And neither of us knows the right way
So here we go trying to get by
The limits of our yesterdays
And if it brings us down
It wouldn't be the first time
Over and over, we put our hearts on the line
Chorus:
Everytime we fall
We get a little stronger, baby
Everytime we walk away
It hurts a little more
Someday we may find
We can make it last this time
Until then, we give it all
Everytime we fall (ohh)
When you're gone
Still burning me
And I'm jealous of the sun that warms you
And still I know
I'm walkin' in your dreams
And I ain't seen the last of you
Coz there's a part of you
That never really leaves
Over and over
You keep coming back to me
(Repeat Chorus)
Bridge:
When one road ends
There's always another one to try
So we're goin' through these changes
Time and time again
You and me, there's no good-bye
No good-bye
(Instrumental)
Coz there's a part of you
That never really leaves
Over and over
You keep coming back to me
Everytime we fall, ohhh
I feel its getting stronger, baby
Stronger, baby. Stronger, baby
(Repeat Chorus)
Everytime we fall
(Only makes us stronger)
Everytime we walk away
(Hurts just a little bit more)
Someday we may find
(We can make it last this time)
Until then we give it all
Everytime we fall
Everytime we fall
(We get a litle stronger baby)
Everytime we walk away
(Hurts just a little bit more)
Someday we may find
We can make it, we cam make it
Until then we give it all
Everytime we fall
