In the United States:
Blues is a genre and musical form that originated in African-American communities in the "Deep South" of the United States around the end of the 19th century. The genre developed from roots in traditional African music, combined with European American folk music. Blues incorporated spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts, and chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads. The blues form, ubiquitous in jazz, rhythm and blues and rock and roll, is characterized by the call-and-response pattern, the blues scale and specific chord progressions, of which the twelve-bar blues is the most common. The blue notes (or "worried notes") which are often thirds or fifths which are flatter in pitch than in other music styles, are also an important part of the sound. Blues shuffles or walking bass reinforce the trance-like rhythm and form a repetitive effect called a groove.
Blues as a genre possesses other characteristics such as lyrics, bass lines, and instruments. The lyrics of early traditional blues verses consisted of a single line repeated four times. It was only in the first decades of the 20th century that the most common current structure became standard: the so-called AAB pattern, consisting of a line sung over the four first bars, its repetition over the next four, and then a longer concluding line over the last bars. Early blues frequently took the form of a loose narrative, often relating troubles experienced within African American society.
Paul William "Bear" Bryant (September 11, 1913 – January 26, 1983) was an American college football player and coach. He was best known as the longtime head coach of the University of Alabama football team. During his 25-year tenure as Alabama's head coach, he amassed six national championships and thirteen conference championships. Upon his retirement in 1982, he held the record for most wins as head coach in collegiate football history with 323 wins. At the University of Alabama, the Paul W. Bryant Museum, Paul W. Bryant Hall, Paul W. Bryant Drive, and Bryant–Denny Stadium are all named in his honor. He was also known for his trademark black and white "houndstooth" hat, deep voice, casually leaning up against the goal post during pre-game warmups, and frequently holding his rolled-up game plan while on the sidelines smoking a cigarette. Before arriving at Alabama, Bryant was head football coach at the University of Maryland, the University of Kentucky, and Texas A&M University.

Husband, father, teacher, and artist, Paul Bryant, fondly known as Pastor Paul graduated to his heavenly home on August 15, 2017, Paul bravely fought the good fight of faith with perseverance and his trademark sense of humor. Paul loved to worship, and in his last moments he was lifting up his hands in praise to the Lord with the song, "Every Praise," by Hezekiah Walker. (January 5, 1957 - August 15, 2017)

I apologize that this video is out of context from an "outdoor and severe weather channel", but I had to post this for the college football fans. With such a football legend as Paul Bear Bryant was to college football, I thought I would share this for his fans. In 1984, I was a videographer at a television station. I don't even consider myself a football fan, but I was asked to cover this bowl game and this was going to be his last game of his coaching career. As it turns out, this was his last game and the last few days of his life. He died about a month after this last game. This is being shared strictly for the football fans. I do take pride in being there on his last game and shooting some of the last video the football coach Paul "Bear" Bryant and his legend. The video was a sports s...

It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart
Without saying a word you can light up the dark
Try as I may I could never explain
What I hear when you don't say a thing
The smile on your face
Lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes
Saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand
Says you'll catch me where ever I fall
You say it best
When you say nothing at all
All day long I can hear people talking aloud
But when you hold me near
you drown out the crowd
Old Mr. Webster could never define
What's been said between your heart and mine
The smile on your face
Lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes
Saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand
Says you'll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best
When you say nothing at all
The smile on your face
Lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes
Saying you'd never leave me
The touch of your hand
Says you'll catch me whereever I fall
You say it best
