Animation Domination is the name for a Sunday evening animated programming block which airs on Fox in the United States and on Global in Canada, where it is branded by that network as Animation Rules with sim-subbing for Canadian advertising. The block airs on Sunday evenings through the entirety of that night's Fox schedule.
Fox premiered the branding on May 1, 2005, in time for the last sweeps period of the 2004–05 television season, with the regular series premiere of American Dad!, which had a preview premiere after Super Bowl XXXIX three months earlier.
International Fox networks, such as Australia's Fox8, and the Fox cable networks in Italy, Portugal and Spain carry local versions of the block dubbed into local languages.
Fox announced plans to air a late Saturday night block of adult animation (nominally 11pm–12:30am ET/PT, but at different times depending on market due to 11pm local newscasts), which would compete with Saturday Night Live on NBC and replace what has been a rolling block of repeats since the cancellation of original programming in the slot in September 2010.Kevin Reilly, head of Fox's entertainment division, announced there would be original, alternative programming. It will be led by Nick Weidenfeld, former Adult Swim development head. Some programs may be in 11-minute slots. The block is targeted for a January 2013 launch under the name Animation Domination High Definition, which will be shortened to both ADHD and Animation Domination HD.
