Jonathan Bernier (born August 7, 1988) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender currently playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (AHL). He was drafted in the first round, 11th overall, of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings, the team with whom he played his first four NHL seasons. He was traded to the Maple Leafs on June 23, 2013, in exchange for Ben Scrivens, Matt Frattin and a second-round draft pick.
Bernier's junior career was spent entirely with the Lewiston Maineiacs in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The first goal scored on him in the QMJHL was by his brother, Marc-André Bernier, at the Halifax Metro Center on September 24, 2004. The goal was in the first period at 15:39. It was Jonathan's first ever QMJHL game. During the 2006–07 season, Bernier won the President's Cup with the Maineiacs as champions of the QMJHL.
On September 29, 2007, Bernier was given the starting role for the Kings in their 2007–08 debut game versus the Anaheim Ducks in London, England. He allowed one goal on 27 shots, earning the win of his career by the final score of 4–1, while being named the second star of the game. During the 2007–08 season, Bernier finished with a 1–3 record, a 4.03 goals against average (GAA) and a .864 save percentage. Bernier was then sent back to his junior team in Lewiston.
The Toronto Maple Leafs (officially the Toronto Maple Leaf Hockey Club) are a Canadian professional ice hockey team based in Toronto, Ontario, that competes in the National Hockey League (NHL). The Maple Leafs are a member club of the league's Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference. The team is one of the "Original Six" league members. They are owned by Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, Ltd. and are represented by Chairman Larry Tanenbaum. In February 1999, they moved to the Air Canada Centre, which replaced Maple Leaf Gardens, the team's home since 1931.
The franchise was founded in 1917, operating simply as Toronto and known today as the Toronto Arenas, as it was operated by the Toronto Arena Company, owners of the Arena Gardens arena. In 1919, the NHL transferred the franchise to new owners who christened the team the Toronto St. Patricks. The franchise was sold in 1927 and was renamed the Toronto Maple Leaf Hockey Club. The team colours are navy blue and white.

The Anaheim Ducks have a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Calgary Flames. Despite the huge series lead, each game has been decided by one goal. On this show, we talk about who has played well this in this series and which players have had surprise performances. We discuss whether John Gibson should continue to be the starting goalie or if Jonathan Bernier should start a game or too. We take a look around the league and share our thoughts on the other series currently being played.

This past week the Anaheim Ducks made four acquisitions. They signed free agents Mason Raymond, Jared Boll, and Jeff Schultz. The Ducks also made a trade acquiring goalie Jonathan Bernier from Toronto for a 2017 conditional draft pick. We discuss each transaction separately and their impact on Anaheim's roster. We look at potential moves the Ducks can still make through free agency and/or via trade. We discuss how the available cap space and expansion draft are playing a role in the decision making process of Bob Murray. Our special guest this week is Max Jones, Anaheim's first round draft pick taken 24th overall this year. He talks about the development camp this past week, the style of game his brings to the ice, and his plans for next season.
This past week the Anaheim Ducks went 3-0-1 in their last four games. They now only sit four points behind the San Jose Sharks with 10 games remaining in the season. The Ducks have leaned on Jonathan Bernier recently with John Gibson dealing with a lower body injury. Gibson came back and played in the previous week against St. Louis, but appears to have reaggravated his injury. The question for Randy Carlyle is if Gibson is healthy before the season ends, then will he go with him in net or continue with Bernier who has gone 5-0-1 in his last six starts. On this show, we talk about the Ducks goalie situation and the importance of the final weeks of the season.
