The Research Triangle Park's creation remains one of the most transformational public-private partnerships in national history.
The "Research Triangle" — for which RTP was named — is formed by the geographic nexus of the region's three world-renowned research universities — Duke University, North Carolina State University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Research Triangle region is anchored by the cities of Raleigh, Cary, Durham and Chapel Hill and is one of the country's fastest growing metropolitan areas with a population of 1.6 million and nearly 3 million in the area within a 60-mile radius of the Park. With RTP at its core, the region boasts a rich intellectual climate with an impressive core of highly-skilled workers, mature and expanding infrastructure, and a modest cost-of-living.
The Triangle also offers an unrivaled quality of life, from its dynamic cultural amenities and vibrant history to its world-class medical facilities, educational opportunities and outdoor recreation. The Triangle region is roughly halfway between North Carolina's Appalachian Mountains and the State's celebrated coastline, making it an unsurpassed region in which to work and live.
As one of the key economic drivers, RTP works with partners around the Research Triangle region and the state of North Carolina to help attract quality employers to locate or expand in the region.

San Antonio ~ Texas ~ Discover San Antonio ~ Travel Guide
officially the City of San Antonio, is the seventh most populous city in the United States of America and the second most populous city in the state of Texas, with a population of 1,409,019.[1] It was the fastest growing of the top 10 largest cities in the United States from 2000 to 2010, and the second from 1990 to 2000.[4][5] The city is located in the American Southwest, the south–central part of Texas, and the southwestern corner of an urban region known as the Texas Triangle.
San Antonio serves as the seat of Bexar County. The city has characteristics of other western urban centers in which there are sparsely populated areas and a low density rate outside of the city limits. San Antonio is the center of the San Antonio–New Braunfels Metropolitan Statistical Area. Commonly referred to as Greater San Antonio, the metropolitan area has a population of over 2.27 million based on the 2013 US Census estimate, making it the 25th-largest metropolitan area in the United States and third-largest in the state of Texas. Growth along the Interstate 35 and Interstate 10 corridors to the north, west and east make it likely that the metropolitan area will continue to expand.
San Antonio was named for Saint Anthony of Padua, whose feast day is on June 13, by a 1691 Spanish expedition in the area. It is notable for Spanish colonial missions, the Alamo, the River Walk, the Tower of the Americas, the Alamo Bowl, and Marriage Island. Commercial entertainment includes SeaWorld and Six Flags Fiesta Texas theme parks, and the city is visited by approximately 26 million tourists per year, according to the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau. The city is home to the five-time NBA champion San Antonio Spurs and hosts the annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, one of the largest such events in the country.
The US armed forces have numerous facilities in San Antonio: Fort Sam Houston, Lackland Air Force Base, Randolph Air Force Base (which constitute Joint Base San Antonio), and Lackland AFB/Kelly Field Annex, with Camp Bullis and Camp Stanley located outside the city. Kelly Air Force Base operated out of San Antonio until 2001, when the airfield was transferred to Lackland AFB. The remaining portions of the base were developed as Port San Antonio, an industrial/business park. San Antonio is home to six Fortune 500 companies and the South Texas Medical Center, the only medical research and care provider in the South Texas region.

8. Copenhagen - The city has committed to carbon neutrality by 2025 and 40% of its citizens regularly commute via bicycle.
7. Berlin - Berlin is testing out vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technologies in the hopes of creating a virtual power plant from electric vehicles.
6. Tokyo - The city will create a smart town in the suburbs in partnership with major industry. The eco-burb will contain homes that integrate solar panels, storage ba tteries, and energy efficient appliances all connected to a smart grid.
5. London - also scored relatively high across the board. London has been well-recognized for some of its sustainability innovations (i.e. congestion tax) and its robust transit system.
4. New York - New York scored higher than most other cities in the ranking in all of the categories except of quality of life, where it ranked a poor 47th. It has teamed with innovator IBM to help the city prevent fires and protect first responders as well as identify questionable tax refund claims--a move that is expected to save the city about $100 million over a five-year period.
3. Paris - Paris already has a highly successful bike sharing program, Velib, and just last month, its mayor launched a similar model for small EVs called Autolib.
2. Toronto - smartest city in NA, scored well across the board, it is an active member of the Clinton 40 (C40) megacities, which seek to transition to the low-carbon economy. The private sector is getting in on the action too, setting up a Smart Commute Toronto initiative to increase the city's transit efficiency.
1. The smartest city in the world is Vienna - Vienna was the only city that ranked in the top 10 in every category. It is establishing bold smart-city targets and tracking their progress to reach these goals with programs like Smart Energy Vision 2050, Roadmap 2020, and Action Plan 2012-2015.
A smart city is defined as using information and communication technologies to be more intelligent and efficient in the use of resources, resulting in cost and energy savings, improved service delivery and quality of life, and reduced environmental footprint--all supporting innovation and the low-carbon economy.
The rankings were determined by the cities scores on 4 global categories: Innovation, Green ranking, Quality of life and digital city.

Traveling To Bermuda with Kids - Tips & Suggestion

BEFORE I GET STARTED: (I must say this because most of you won't read this entire review) YOU MUST VISIT COOPER'S ISLAND NATURE RESERVE. This reserve is right near Turtle Bay and it has some of these most amazing beaches and views on the island! I counted about 5 people while we were out there. YOU MUST, MUST, MUST make the trip to explore the beaches beyond the gates. There's no food, no bathrooms, and about a half mile walk, but it's absolutely breath taking.
Now For Those Of You Who Want To Read The Rest...
This summer, Riley's father had a speaking engagement on the lovely Island of Bermuda. While John (Riley's dad) and I have been before, this was Riley's first trip. Since we live in Columbus, Ohio - where it tends to be cold longer than it's warm, Riley only wanted to beach hop. From the moment we landed, Riley was looking for beaches.
We were on the Island from Sunday to Friday, and I think it stormed every single day! We would look to see if the clouds showed any signs of clearing up and if they did we hurried and got our swimming gear on. We were blessed to have one of our good friends who live there to show us around. We literally did nothing but go from one beach to the next. We didn't even capture all of the beaches we visited. If your children don't swim well, I would recommend you take them to one of the coves. Here are a list of the beaches we liked since we had a toddler with us... (I'm sure there are more, these are just a few that we visited.)
1. Long Beach (I can count on one hand how many people were there)
2. Turtle Bay
3. Horshoe (crowded because most of the tourist go there)
4.Tobacco Bay (shallow water where the kids can walk and snorkel, they also have a restaurant)
5. Shelly Beach (Shallow water, playground, across from bus stop. NO FOOD)
6. Jobson's Cove (Our absolute favorite cove! There is a food truck at the parking lot with burgers, AMAZING fries, and hotdogs. They also have a bathroom there)
If you have small children stay away from:
1. John's Smith Bay (Water was way too rough and drops off quickly)
2. Snorkel Park (Such a tourist attraction, too many rocks. BUT there is a restaurant, putt-putt, and dolphin experience nearby)
There are things to do on the island besides the beaches. Dockyard has the putt putt, dolphin experience, playground area, shopping/restaurants, ferry, and the island also has a zoo. If your kids are big on animals like Riley is, I would skip this stop. It is worth stopping by and seeing the HUGE turtles in the front of the building in the water pit. The dolphin experience does cost a lot BUT it's always fun, if you are visiting other islands compare the prices to see who has the best deal.
Food: if you are visiting from the USA, know that the food is a lot more expensive. A kids meal cost about $12 at most places. Also, you do not get refills anywhere on the island unless you have water. (Save yourself the embarrassment)
Transportation: Locals are only allowed one car on the island (no matter how many people live there) so you'll see a lot of mopeds. There are no car rental services, you can only take a taxi, rent a moped (that didn't work for us since we had Riley with us) or take the bus. We didn't try the bus until the last day. However, I highly recommend you getting tickets and traveling by bus. If you aren't big on directions and reading maps, don't worry! The locals are very friendly and don't mind pointing you in the correct direction. Taxi's can get a bit pricey, so buses are definitely a must on this island because it's easy to get around unlike other places we've been.
We were at one beach and it started storming and some of the locals were so concerned about us that they refused to leave us there. We weren't being picked up for a few hours and didn't know what we should do. Again, because the locals are so friendly, one elderly lady and her granddaughter insisted that they take us home. We had a great chat in the car while our girls laughed and played together. (Would I do this in America, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!! I would have just weathered the storm, sad to say!)
Anyhow, we had a blast and hope that this blog post will help you with your travel plans to Bermuda with your little.
Enjoy,
Riley Madison's Mommy

Many people have goals of trading full time. Whether it be stocks, options, Forex, futures, etc., it's a great and ambitious goal to have for yourself - no doubt about it. Goals and reality can often times be very separate things, and while I'm not saying full time trading is impossible, you need to be sure to ask yourself key questions in order to understand some critical numbers. These numbers will ensure you are setting yourself on a pathway towards the best chance of success.

HOW CAN I MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN TRANSFORMING INDIA
This is a hard hitting question to be answered by each and every Indian worth his salt. I was just thinking whether I have contributed enough to the progress of this great nation during my last 25 years of my professional career. Except for few donations for some charitable causes here and there, which includes for victims of Tsunami tragedy. I must admit that I have done precious little to transform my fatherland. (tribute to my dad who passed away in 1996 ).
I firmly believe that Tourism being the worlds biggest industry, we as Indians have got a miniscule contribution of the benefits. How are we going to unleash the tourist potential is a big rider to all the planners. Tourists are easily attracted towards the TAJ, KHAJURAHO, RED FORT, DAL LAKE, KOVALAM, CALANGUTE, HAMPI, MYSORE PALACE, AJANTA, ELLORA, etc which are very popular and some of them have attained the world heritage status too. This adds up to the migration of populace towards these destinations leaving other destinations in India go unnoticed.
What about the relatively unknown destinations such as Aihole, Badami, Chitradurga Fort ( Kalline Kote), Gol Gomuz, Rouza Mosque, Alampur, Sirsailam, Yaganti, Ketavaram cave paintings, Bekal Fort, St Angelo Fort, St Francis Church, Srirangam temple, Padmanabpuram Palace, Vivekananda Ashram, Vattakotai & St. Marys Isle.
The only major requirement from the govt. side is to have proper road access to all the tourist destinations in India, however small the town or village maybe. The consciousness among locals that tourists whether domestic or foreigners are going to be their source of income in the long run. The natives should be able to preserve a temple, mosque, palace, fort, or any of the historical remains maybe even a grave belonging to great leaders. Instead of using the bricks and stones for constructing their own houses and thereby destroying the edifice of heritage.
In my earnest quest to visit unheralded destinations in around S. India and eventually the entire country. I slowly discovered a rich heritage of culture and history. I undertook some research with the help of books, internet search and story dished out by guides and local population, I started penning down my travelogue on blogspot. The link is www.indiabackpacker.blogspot.com I don t know how the future generation is going to view this contribution of mine but my conviction is firm that Indian heritage reaches out far beyond the golden tourist triangle.
The concept backpacking absolutely translates into budget traveling and discovering newer destinations on a shoe string budget. The famous tourist destination is virtually for the elite class of tourists, who may not really percolate their spending among the local populace. It is the backpacker who will end up spending on local restaurant, buying some momentous, spending on local guides, tipping the friendly auto guys, conductors, or even the children. Local Shopkeepers too will definitely find demand for good mineral water, branded biscuits, fruits, soft drinks, tetra juice packs apart from cigarettes and chilled beer which may be luxurious vice.
An opportunity to taste the local cuisine is always a temptation for a domestic traveler. One would look forward to it, and travel miles to relish it. Backpacking is a concept which enables one to discover real destination, without the package version of mass tourism. It is the perception that holidaying should result in value addition that one carries the vision of real India mingling with commoners and having a peep into their lifestyle. I am sure India will be perceived more than a country of snake charmers but with potential to launch satellite and voyage to the Moon.
I am confident that my humble contribution will make a difference to unknown tourist circuits in India. With a little guidance and sponsorship for an expensive and time consuming endeavor I will be able to provide a complete package for backpackers, be it foreigners or domestic tourists.

Under the Antarctica - Full Documentary HD
The Antarctic ice sheet is one of the two polar ice caps of the Earth. It covers about 98% of the Antarctic continent and is the largest single mass of ice on Earth. It covers an area of almost 14 million square km and contains 26.5 million cubic km of ice.
That is, approximately 61 percent of all fresh water on the Earth is held in the Antarctic ice sheet, an amount equivalent to 70 m of water in the world's oceans. In East Antarctica, the ice sheet rests on a major land mass, but in West Antarctica the bed can extend to more than 2,500 m below sea level. The land in this area would be seabed if the ice sheet were not there.
The icing of Antarctica began with ice-rafting from middle Eocene times about 45.5 million years ago and escalated inland widely during the Eocene - Oligocene extinction event about 34 million years ago. CO2 levels were then about 760 ppm and had been decreasing from earlier levels in the thousands of ppm. Carbon dioxide decrease, with a tipping point of 600 ppm, was the primary agent forcing Antarctic glaciation.
The glaciation was favored by an interval when the Earth's orbit favored cool summers but Oxygen isotope ratio cycle marker changes were too large to be explained by Antarctic ice-sheet growth alone indicating an ice age of some size. The opening of the Drake Passage may have played a role as well though models of the changes suggest declining CO2 levels to have been more important.
Ice enters the sheet through precipitation as snow. This snow is then compacted to form glacier ice which moves under gravity towards the coast. Most of it is carried to the coast by fast moving ice streams. The ice then passes into the ocean, often forming vast floating ice shelves. These shelves then melt or calve off to give icebergs that eventually melt.
If the transfer of the ice from the land to the sea is balanced by snow falling back on the land then there will be no net contribution to global sea levels. A 2002 analysis of NASA satellite data from 1979 - 1999 showed that while overall the land ice is decreasing, areas of Antarctica where sea ice was increasing outnumbered areas of decreasing sea ice roughly 2:1.
The general trend shows that a warming climate in the southern hemisphere would transport more moisture to Antarctica, causing the interior ice sheets to grow, while calving events along the coast will increase, causing these areas to shrink. A 2006 paper derived from satellite data, measures changes in the gravity of the ice mass, suggests that the total amount of ice in Antarctica has begun decreasing in the past few years.
Another recent study compared the ice leaving the ice sheet, by measuring the ice velocity and thickness along the coast, to the amount of snow accumulation over the continent. This found that the East Antarctic Ice Sheet was in balance but the West Antarctic Ice Sheet was losing mass. This was largely due to acceleration of ice streams such as Pine Island Glacier. These results agree closely with the gravity changes.
Thank You!
God Bless!!!
