Die (integrated circuit)
A die in the context of integrated circuits is a small block of semiconducting material, on which a given functional circuit is fabricated. Typically, integrated circuits are produced in large batches on a single wafer of electronic-grade silicon (EGS) or other semiconductor (such as GaAs) through processes such as photolithography. The wafer is cut (“diced”) into many pieces, each containing one copy of the circuit. Each of these pieces is called a die.
There are three commonly used plural forms: dice, dies, and die.

Decapping ICs (removing epoxy packaging from chips to expose the dies)
I thought it would be interesting to try decapping some chips. This involves using fuming nitric acid, which also seemed fun, so I thought I would give it a go. The process starts by milling a precise pocket into the IC using my CNC machine. I used carbide tooling to cut the glass fiber/epoxy material. I then put a drop or two of the acid into the pocket, and raised the temperature to about 100*C. The acid dissolves the epoxy packaging as it sort of "dries". I added more acid to the pocket every few minutes. After about 10 minutes, I washed the IC in acetone, then reapplied acid if there was still material left on the die. Eventually, it was all cleared away, and I had a nice decapped IC.

Fête de la Transhumance à Die 2018 (Drôme - France)
Transhumance le 23.06.2018
(GB) Transhumance is the seasonal movement of people with their livestock over relatively short distances, typically to higher pastures in summer and to lower valleys in winter. Herders have a permanent home, typically in valleys. Only the herds travel, with the people necessary to tend them. Traditional or fixed transhumance occurs or has occurred throughout the inhabited world, including Scandinavia, Scotland, Caucasus, Chad, Morocco, France, Italy, Ireland, Lebanon, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Spain, Iran, Turkey, the Republic of Macedonia, India, Switzerland, Georgia and Lesotho. It is also practised among more nomadic Sami people of Scandinavia. It is often of high importance to pastoralist societies, the dairy products of transhumance flocks and herds (milk...

It is often of high importance to pastoralist societies, the dairy products of transhumance flocks and herds (milk, butter, yogurt and cheese) often forming much of the diet of such populations.

The Neva is the only river flowing from Lake Ladoga. It flows through the city of Saint Petersburg, three smaller towns of Shlisselburg, Kirovsk and Otradnoye, and dozens of settlements. The river is navigable throughout and is part of the Volga–Baltic Waterway and White Sea – Baltic Canal. It is a site of numerous major historical events, including the Battle of the Neva in 1240 which gave Alexander Nevsky his name, the founding of Saint Petersburg in 1703, and the Siege of Leningrad by the German army during World War II.

Alexander Nevsky - Fight at the Neva River
Alexander Yaroslavich Rurickovich, nick name Nevsky
Born in Pereslavl-Zalessky, Alexander was the second son of Prince Yaroslav Vsevolodovich and seemed to have no chance of claiming the throne of Vladimir. In 1236, however, he was summoned by the Novgorodians to become prince of Novgorod and, as their military leader, to defend their northwest lands from Swedish and German invaders After the Swedish army had landed at the confluence of the rivers Izhora and Neva, Alexander and his small army made a surprise attack at dawn on 15 July 1240 and defeated them. The Neva battle of 1240 saved Russia from a full-scale invasion from the North. Because of this battle, 18-year-old Alexander was given the nick name "Nevsky" (which means "of the Neva"). This victory, coming just three years after the...

This victory, coming just three years after the disastrous Mongol invasion of Russia, strengthened Nevsky's political influence with the common people, but at the same time it worsened his relations with the boyars (the nobility). Soon they would fire him and send him home.
After Novgorod's vassal city of Pskov had been captureded by the crusading Livonian Order, the Novgorod authorities sent for Alexander and begged him to come back and defend them. In spring of 1241 he returned from his exile, gathered an army, and drove out the invaders. Alexander and his men faced the Livonian heavy cavalry led by the grand master of the Order, Hermann, brother of Albert of Buxhoeveden. Nevsky faced the enemy on the ice of Lake Peipus and defeated the Livonian branch of the Teutonic Knights during the Battle of the Ice on 5 April 1242.
Alexander's victory at Lake Peipus was a significant event in the military history of the Middle Ages. The Novgorod militia armed with pikes swords maces axes and chain mail armor had surrounded and defeated an army of knights, mounted on horseback and clad in thick plate and mail armor.
Alexander was proclaimed Grand Duke of Vladimir by the Khan of the Golden Horde in 1252.
Alexander's victory was also an important early step in the founding and development of the Grand Duchy of Moscow, in his will he gave the tiny principality of Moscow (500 square miles) to his son Daniel the first prince of Moscow.
Proclaimed a Saint of the Orthodox Church by Metropolitan Macarius in 1547
