Surrey /ˈsʌri/ is a county in the South East of England, and one of the home counties. The county borders Greater London, Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, and Berkshire. The historic county town is Guildford.Surrey County Council sits at Kingston upon Thames, although this has been part of Greater London since 1965. The London boroughs of Lambeth, Wandsworth and Southwark were considered part of Surrey until 1889; and Croydon, Kingston, Merton, Sutton, Barnes and Richmond - all now reclassified as part of Greater London - were part of Surrey until 1965.
Surrey is divided into 11 boroughs and districts: Elmbridge, Epsom and Ewell, Guildford, Mole Valley, Reigate and Banstead, Runnymede, Spelthorne, Surrey Heath, Tandridge, Waverley, Woking. After the elections of 1 May 2008, the Conservatives are in control of 10 out of 11 councils in Surrey, with Epsom and Ewell in Residents Association control. The Conservatives hold all 11 Parliamentary constituencies within the county borders.

A Surrey primary school is closed, its fences covered in barbed wire to stop anyone getting in. A store has virtually no goods and charges hugely-inflated prices. An ambulance rushing to hospital is stopped by a roadblock. This all takes place in new advert from Save The Children - ‘What if Surrey Were Syria?’ which explores the reaction of local people when they are confronted with roadblocks, school closures and food shortages on the scale that have happened in Syria during the four-year civil war. In the video, horrified members of the public react with bewilderment and anger to the scenarios, clashing with actors playing people manning roadblocks, shopkeepers explaining why shop shelves are empty and paramedics who cannot reach hospitals. Another situation, where an ambulance carrying a mother and her sick child is unable to pass through a checkpoint, attracts concerned onlookers. Save the Children's chief executive Justin Forsyth said: “A tiny fraction of Syrian refugees make it to Europe. The poorest, the sick and the elderly remain under siege, barrel-bombed, gassed and shot, starved of food and medicine. “Despite the generosity of the UK government and others, more widely, money to assist millions living in refugees camps is drying up. -

Save The Children Video 'What If Surrey Were Syria' Reveals What Life Is Like In A Civil War
A Surrey primary school is closed, its fences covered in barbed wire to stop anyone getting in. A store has virtually no goods and charges hugely-inflated prices. An ambulance rushing to hospital is stopped by a roadblock. This all takes place in new advert from Save The Children - ‘What if Surrey Were Syria?’ which explores the reaction of local people when they are confronted with roadblocks, school closures and food shortages on the scale that have happened in Syria during the four-year civil war. In the video, horrified members of the public react with bewilderment and anger to the scenarios, clashing with actors playing people manning roadblocks, shopkeepers explaining why shop shelves are empty and paramedics who cannot reach hospitals. Another situation, where an ambulance carrying a mother and her sick child is unable to pass through a checkpoint, attracts concerned onlookers. Save the Children's chief executive Justin Forsyth said: “A tiny fraction of Syrian refugees make it to Europe. The poorest, the sick and the elderly remain under siege, barrel-bombed, gassed and shot, starved of food and medicine. “Despite the generosity of the UK government and others, more widely, money to assist millions living in refugees camps is drying up. -

After repeated demands to get on the ground the subject went to reach into his backpack and the officer had no choice but to take the subject down. Red Scorpion Matt Campbell Gang Leader Murdered Surrey Six Killed in Abbotsford B.C.
Red Scorpion Matt Campbell Gang Leader Killed in Abbotsford B.C.A man fatally attacked near the Abbotsford Auto Mall Thursday was Red Scorpion gang leader Matt Campbell, Sources confirmed that Campbell was the victim of the attack just before 3:45 p.m. in the 30100-block of Automall Drive. He was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team and the Abbotsford Police Department are searching for a suspect. Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald said the victim entered one of the businesses "with a severe injury to his neck." "Medical resources were deployed to assist the man and APD members began investigating and gathering evidence," MacDonald said. He said he couldn't confirm initial reports the victim was stabbed. Campbell is believed to have taken over the leadership of the Red Scorpion gang after the arrest or murders of several key gang members in recent years, including brothers Jonathan, Jarrod and Jamie Bacon. Campbell attended a funeral service for Jonathan in Langley in August 2011 after the eldest Bacon brother was shot to death in Kelowna. Campbell, 31, was convicted of conspiring to traffic firearms in 2007 and received a two-year sentence. During the investigation, more than 100 guns were seized, including military assault rifles, sub machine guns and fully automatic handguns. Campbell, who grew up in Abbotsford, was extremely close to the Bacon brothers. He travelled with other Red Scorpions gangsters and their girlfriends to Mexico in December 2007, just weeks after the Surrey Six slayings. Also on the trip were Jamie Bacon, Cody Haevischer, and a man who can be identified only as Person X due to a court-ordered ban, all of whom were later charged in the high-profile murder case. Person X has since pleaded guilty. Haevischer is currently on trial. And Bacon is due to be tried separately at a later date. Also on the Mexico trip were Jon Bacon and the late Kevin LeClair, who died in a hail of bullets in February 2009. According to evidence at the Surrey Six trial, the Red Scorpion gang was formed in 2005 by several teens inside a youth detention centre. One of the founders, Michael Le, pleaded guilty in December to conspiring to kill one of the Surrey Six victims. The Red Scorpions went on to run drug lines all over the Lower Mainland, with the Bacon brothers and their allies joining the gang in 2007. A bloody gang war involving the Red Scorpions and their rivals from the United Nations and other groups has left dozens of people dead. -

RCMP took down this drug addict hard as he was threatening people standing at the bus stop. After repeated demands to get on the ground the subject went to reach into his backpack and the officer had no choice but to take the subject down.

Red Scorpion Matt Campbell Gang Leader Killed in Abbotsford B.C.A man fatally attacked near the Abbotsford Auto Mall Thursday was Red Scorpion gang leader Matt Campbell, Sources confirmed that Campbell was the victim of the attack just before 3:45 p.m. in the 30100-block of Automall Drive. He was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team and the Abbotsford Police Department are searching for a suspect. Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald said the victim entered one of the businesses "with a severe injury to his neck."
"Medical resources were deployed to assist the man and APD members began investigating and gathering evidence," MacDonald said.
He said he couldn't confirm initial reports the victim was stabbed.
Campbell is believed to have taken over the leadership of the Red Scorpion gang after the arrest or murders of several key gang members in recent years, including brothers Jonathan, Jarrod and Jamie Bacon.
Campbell attended a funeral service for Jonathan in Langley in August 2011 after the eldest Bacon brother was shot to death in Kelowna.
Campbell, 31, was convicted of conspiring to traffic firearms in 2007 and received a two-year sentence. During the investigation, more than 100 guns were seized, including military assault rifles, sub machine guns and fully automatic handguns.
Campbell, who grew up in Abbotsford, was extremely close to the Bacon brothers.
He travelled with other Red Scorpions gangsters and their girlfriends to Mexico in December 2007, just weeks after the Surrey Six slayings. Also on the trip were Jamie Bacon, Cody Haevischer, and a man who can be identified only as Person X due to a court-ordered ban, all of whom were later charged in the high-profile murder case.
Person X has since pleaded guilty. Haevischer is currently on trial.
And Bacon is due to be tried separately at a later date.
Also on the Mexico trip were Jon Bacon and the late Kevin LeClair, who died in a hail of bullets in February 2009.
According to evidence at the Surrey Six trial, the Red Scorpion gang was formed in 2005 by several teens inside a youth detention centre.
One of the founders, Michael Le, pleaded guilty in December to conspiring to kill one of the Surrey Six victims. The Red Scorpions went on to run drug lines all over the Lower Mainland, with the Bacon brothers and their allies joining the gang in 2007.
A bloody gang war involving the Red Scorpions and their rivals from the United Nations and other groups has left dozens of people dead.

You'll find some of the best preserved adobes in California here, including Custom House, built by Mexico in 1827 for sea trading, and California's First Theatre, built in 1846 as entertainment for local sailors. California's first state constitution was drafted at Colton Hall in 1849. When booking Monterey hotels, plan well in advance. The town books up quickly in September during the Monterey Jazz Festival and in June during the Monterey Blues Festival. Looking out at the pristine protected waters of Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, it's easy to fall in love with this stunning coastal getaway. Clapham, London Travel Guide
The sleepy residential suburb is conveniently located in South London and thanks to it's excellent transport links, it only takes 15 minutes to get here. Clapham high street is a great place to buy some gifts, there's a wide range of varied and exciting shops to check out. I also visited the 24 hour market on Venn Street. It's a great place to pick up some locally grown vegetables and freshly baked goods. Many travel to Clapham for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and if peace and quiet is what you're after then Clapham Common is the place for you. Anglo Saxons first settled on the common in 1887, now-a-days it's used purely for recreation and hosts many music festival. Whether you're into football or dogging, there's something for everyone on the common. www.joolzguides.com A little further out from central London lies one of London's most wonderful attractions. In this London Guide, Joolz is shown around The Horniman Museum by its curator, Poalo Viscari. Situated in Forest Hill, South London it is the perfect place for a day out with the kids. There's natural history, anthropology, musical instruments and aquarium and acres of gardens with a wonderful view of London. Frederick John Horniman, was a tea trader in the 19th century and began collecting objects, specimens and artefacts 'illustrating natural history and the arts and handicrafts of various peoples of the world' from around 1860. He wanted to 'bring the world to Forest Hill' and educate and enrich the lives of the local community who didn't have the chance or money to go travelling and see these amazing things. He travelled to Egypt, Sri Lanka, Burma, China, Japan, Canada and the United States collecting objects. Mr Horniman’s interest as a collector was well known and many travellers approached him with specimens and curiosities. By the end of the century, he had accumulated so much stuff that he gave up the whole house to the collections'. Charles Dickens also mentions it in David Copperfield. In this 2 minute video guide Joolz visits the bath and some a job convincing his friend of its importance. Located two hours south of San Francisco and 5 1/2 hours north of LA, Monterey retains the charm of a small town while boasting some of the best dining, shops and attractions on the Central Coast.
Cannery Row, immortalized in the 1945 John Steinbeck novel, is one of Monterey's top attractions. Today, Cannery Row's sardine factories are now home to quirky shops, chain restaurants and posh hotels. Monterey Bay Aquarium, housed in historic Hovden Cannery, is a must-see attraction. A downstairs exhibit displays Steinbeck memorabilia and vintage sardine machinery.
For a fun day out with the kids, check out Old Fisherman's Wharf, originally built in 1846. It's a typical bustling pier, with million-dollar Monterey boats, fresh seafood, candy shops and amusements.

Located two hours south of San Francisco and 5 1/2 hours north of LA, Monterey retains the charm of a small town while boasting some of the best dining, shops and attractions on the Central Coast.
Cannery Row, immortalized in the 1945 John Steinbeck novel, is one of Monterey's top attractions. Today, Cannery Row's sardine factories are now home to quirky shops, chain restaurants and posh hotels. Monterey Bay Aquarium, housed in historic Hovden Cannery, is a must-see attraction. A downstairs exhibit displays Steinbeck memorabilia and vintage sardine machinery.
For a fun day out with the kids, check out Old Fisherman's Wharf, originally built in 1846. It's a typical bustling pier, with million-dollar Monterey boats, fresh seafood, candy shops and amusements.

Clapham high street is a great place to buy some gifts, there's a wide range of varied and exciting shops to check out. I also visited the 24 hour market on Venn Street. It's a great place to pick up some locally grown vegetables and freshly baked goods.
Many travel to Clapham for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and if peace and quiet is what you're after then Clapham Common is the place for you. Anglo Saxons first settled on the common in 1887, now-a-days it's used purely for recreation and hosts many music festival.
Whether you're into football or dogging, there's something for everyone on the common.
Well I had a lovely day in Clapham and I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

Situated in Forest Hill, South London it is the perfect place for a day out with the kids. There's natural history, anthropology, musical instruments and aquarium and acres of gardens with a wonderful view of London.
Frederick John Horniman, was a tea trader in the 19th century and began collecting objects, specimens and artefacts 'illustrating natural history and the arts and handicrafts of various peoples of the world' from around 1860. He wanted to 'bring the world to Forest Hill' and educate and enrich the lives of the local community who didn't have the chance or money to go travelling and see these amazing things.
He travelled to Egypt, Sri Lanka, Burma, China, Japan, Canada and the United States collecting objects. Mr Horniman’s interest as a collector was well known and many travellers approached him with specimens and curiosities.
By the end of the century, he had accumulated so much stuff that he gave up the whole house to the collections'.
His wife said 'either the collection goes or we do' so the family moved to Surrey Mount the grounds of which adjoined those of the former residence.
