3rd ATTEMPT - 1st upload c. 4 min. long immediately blocked, 2nd (even better) upload c. 2 min. long blocked after 3 days. Whilst Studio Canal has every legal right to protect their copyright, they seem unable to distinguish between blatant exploitation and a genuine attempt to produce a promotional clip in the absence of the original trailer (the edits were all done from a legally bought DVD which, unfortunately, has nothing but the film on it). I have given up the idea of editing a decent 3rd attempt using different stills, instead this is only the main title with some non-copyright music added. Now on to my original blurb:
When Britain still had many factories and people were paid weekly in cash, payroll robberies were regular events. In Newcastle-upon-Tyne (but not a Geordie accent to be heard), a violent payroll robbery occurs, leading to unforeseen consequences for all involved. Although this is a superior British crime thriller, it is seriously flawed by the woeful miscasting of Michael Craig as the lead villain - he is totally out of his depth playing a "hard" man. The storyline also stretches credibility, betraying its origins as a crime novel. With the right lead actor (say, Stanley Baker) and a slightly re-worked script, this could have been a classic. Fortunately it is saved by good location filming (some apparently also in Rugby, as well as Norfolk) and a strong supporting cast which includes William Lucas (perfect as the weak inside accomplice), the splendid Kenneth Griffith, Tom Bell, Andrew Faulds (who later became a Labour MP, proof that Parliament is just theatre), and Glyn Houston. The female leads add more strength, French actress Françoise Prévost plays a sexy and deceitful wife, Billie Whitelaw plays an avenging wife, although her role is far-fetched. For American release, some clown came up with the alternative title "I Promised To Pay", but the French were closer to the mark with "Les Gangsters".

Acclaimed actress Billie Whitelaw, famous for her roles on stage and screen, has died at the age of 82.
The Coventry-born star, who was made a CBE in 1991, worked in close collaboration with playwright Samuel Beckett, who described her as a perfect actress.
She died in the early hours of Sunday at a nursing home in London, her son Matthew Muller told the BBC.
"I could not have asked for a more loving mum," he said.
"She had an incredible career - but first and foremost she was my mum - and that's who I will miss," he added.
Whitelaw made her radio acting debut aged just 11.
In 1950, she made her first stage appearance in Bradford in a performance of Pink String and Sealing Wax, before moving into films and television.
She was well known for her role as Mrs Baylock in horror film The Omen.
Whitelaw also played a starring role as Violet Kray in The Krays and more recently appeared in comedy Hot Fuzz.
During her career, she won a British Academy Award for best newcomer for her role in Hell is a City. She also won Best Supporting Actress for her parts in Twisted Nerve and Charlie Bubbles.
Whitelaw appeared in a number of TV series, including BBC One's Dixon of Dock Green.
But in her autobiography Billie Whitelaw . . . Who He?, she said it was her work with Beckett that generated most interest.
Beckett 'cared'
Without their association, she wrote, "nobody would have been remotely interested in my autobiography."
She described Beckett as demanding and meticulous, but added: "Because I knew he was radiating love and he cared and he wanted you to be perfect... it didn't upset me."
In a 1997 interview with The Independent, the actress said death did not scare her.
She told the newspaper: "Death's not one of those things that frighten the life out of me."
She added: "Getting up on stage with the curtain going up frightens me more."
She was married to actor Peter Vaughan between 1952 and 1966.
Later, she married German actor and writer Robert Muller, who died in 1998.

A steamer trunk full of the voices of British acting greats (Ben Kingsley, Billie Whitelaw, Michael Hordern, Brian Blessed, and Jonathan Pryce) enliven this absurd pop-cartoon parody of the James Bond films. In a prologue taking place in a faraway time, a widowed magician-king (voice of Michael Hordern) and his son, Prince Freddie (voice of Ben Kingsley) live in their lonely castle. Freddie's mean aunt Messina (voice of Billie Whitelaw), dead-set against Freddie becoming king, kills his father and transforms Freddie into a frog. Freddie escapes the wrath of Messina by jumping into the sea. Several hundred years later, Freddie is now living in modern day Paris -- a six-foot-tall amphibian with the moniker Secret Agent F.R.O.7. Messina, too, is still around causing mischief, joining forces with an arch-villain named El Supremo (voice of Brian Blessed) in a scheme to shrink Big Ben. Freddie, alerted to Messina's nefarious plans, gathers his fellow agents Daffers (voice of Jenny Agutter) and Scottie (voice of John Sessions) together, planning to hide out in Big Ben and surprise the evil doers when they are set to strike at the much-loved British landmark.

The Secret Garden is the 1987 Hallmark Hall of Fame TV film adaptation of the novel The Secret Garden, aired on CBS November 30, 1987 and produced by Rosemont Productions Limited, who also produced Back to the Secret Garden. The movie starred Gennie James, Barret Oliver, Jadrien Steele, Billie Whitelaw, Derek Jacobi.
This version of The Secret Garden is much different than others. The story is told as a flashback of the adult Mary returning to Misselthwaite Manor after World War I. She looks for the key to the secret garden, but doesn't find it, so she sits down and remembers her childhood.
The main story begins in colonial India where the young spoiled, rotten Mary Lennox is played by Gennie James. One morning she awakes to find her servants not answering and her parents having a late dinner party. She goes back to bed and reads a story to her doll. A few hours pass after she goes and eats some of the food that was leftover and drinks wine. Her parents soon die of cholera. She is soon sent to live with a friend of the family named Mr. Craven (played by Derek Jacobi).
While adjusting to life in England, Mary meets the maid Martha (played by Cassie Stuart) who encourages her to go outside. She plays outside by herself but also meets Martha's brother Dickon (played by Barret Oliver), who can talk to animals. At first Mary rejects him as a friend, but then she learns about the secret garden from Martha; it is a walled garden that was locked up after Mr. Craven's wife died. After Mary discovers the key and the door to the garden, she asks Martha for gardening tools, and Dickon comes to deliver them. Mary lets him in on the secret and they work to revive the garden together.
Meanwhile in the house, Mary becomes alarmed by sounds of crying that she hears at night. One night she goes exploring and meets Colin (played by Jadrien Steele). The two become fast friends, and she helps him to stop thinking that he will die. Colin believes he will have a lump on his back like his father, and he has stayed shut up in his room for years. Eventually Mary tells him about his mother's garden and how she has been inside but that he mustn't tell anyone about it. Dickon visits with his animals, then they take Colin to the garden secretly. They are all friends, although Colin seems to have a special crush on Mary. The gardener Ben Weatherstaff discovers the kids inside the garden by standing on a ladder at the wall. Colin tries to stand up when Ben thinks he is a cripple, and all are amazed. Ben offers to help revive the garden as well, and Colin tries to learn to stand and walk by himself.
Far away, Mr. Craven dreams about his late wife Lillias. After a letter from Susan Sowerby, Martha's and Dickon's mother, Mr. Craven decides to return home at last, and he discovers Mary and Colin in the garden. Mary encourages Colin to stand. He walks to his father and they hug. Colin says he is well now and will live forever.
When the adult Mary finishes remembering her childhood, Ben Weatherstaff greets her and gives her the key to the secret garden. They discuss what happened to Dickon, who died in the war, at the Forest of Argonne. (Years ago, Dickon had made a prediction that he would be parted from the other children, and it seems like he knew his fate.) Then the adult Colin (played by Colin Firth) enters the garden, having been wounded and released from the hospital. He says he has asked Mary to marry him before, but she never answered him. She says she wanted him to ask her "in our garden", so he proposes again and she accepts.
Highclere Castle was used for interior and exterior settings of Misslethwaite Manor and the film uses Chopin's Nocturne Op.72, No.1 in E minor as it's main theme.
Frances Eliza Hodgson Burnett (24 November 1849 -- 29 October 1924) was an English-American playwright and author. She is best known for her children's stories, in particular Little Lord Fauntleroy (published in 1885-6), A Little Princess (1905), and The Secret Garden (1911).
Frances Eliza Hodgson was born in Cheetham, near Manchester, England. After her father died in 1852, the family eventually fell on straitened circumstances and in 1865 emigrated to the United States, settling near Knoxville, Tennessee. There, Frances began writing to help earn money for the family, publishing stories in magazines from the age of 19. In 1870 her mother died and in 1872 she married Swan Burnett, who became a medical doctor after which they lived in Paris for two years where their two sons were born before returning to the US to live in Washington D.C. There she began to write novels, the first of which (That Lass o' Lowries), was published to good reviews. Little Lord Fauntleroy was published in 1886 and made her a popular writer of children's fiction, although her romantic adult novels written in the 1890s were also popular. She wrote and helped to produce stage versions of Little Lord Fauntleroy and A Little Princess.

The Secret Garden (Film) Gennie James, Barret Oliver, Jadrien Steele, Michael Horden, Billie Whitelaw, Derek Jacobi, Colin Firth.
The film, The Secret Garden, is based on the classic children's novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It is one of several versions of the classic on film. ( Shown in the US as part of the Hallmark Hall of Fame Series)
A young girl, living in India, is left orphaned when her parents die in a plague. She is sent back to England to live in a rural mansion, where she lives with friends of the family. Her guardian is a strange, distant man, Archibald Craven, who is an invalid. At first, Mary, taken care of the servants and housekeeper, is willful and uncooperative. Mary begins to make friends with a local boy who seems to understand nature and animals. And she begins to investigate the secrets of the house—strange noises in the night and the a secret closed-in garden. The noises, it turns out, come from the son of her guardian, who stays in bed and who believes that he is growing a "hump" on his back like his father's. Mary sees that the son, whose name is Colin, is spoiled, and she becomes a positive force, encouraging him to try things and break out of his invalid life. Mary, Dickon, and Colin begin to work clandestinely to restore the garden, with Colin gradually gaining strength and confidence as the garden returns to life. When Colin's father unexpectedly returns home, he finds his son miraculously restored to health.
This version of Secret Garden features a young and very handsome Colin Firth for a total of 1 minute and 25 seconds of screen time--at the very end of the film. Colin Firth plays the adult Colin Craven.
The screenwriters take a bit of license with the book by cutting the family connection between the two children and writing Mary Lennox 's father as a close friend of Archibald Craven. This sets the stage for the script's little romance angle between the grown-up children, Mary Lennox and Colin Craven at the film's end. This is not in the book at all, but as it gives us another role for Colin Firth it seems to be a brilliant idea.

Portrayed with gritty realism by real-life brothers Gary and Martin Kemp (of Spandau Ballet fame), Ronald and Reggie Kray's dynamic rise to infamy and cut-throat reign over London's East End is a chilling story of power and revenge, establishing a climate of fear that rocked the London underworld.
Detaling their formative years under the influence of staunch matriarch Violet (BAFTA nominee Billie Whitelaw, The Omen) carving through an era of extortion and fraud, fiercely protecting their business interests by way of a sharp knife and a 'Chelsea smile', to cold-blooded murder, The Krays cuts deep into the psyche and lifestyle of two brothers born to be bad.
