2016 The Tennessee Highway Patrol has released video from the troopers chasing Cordarius Caldwell along I 24 and 75 last month. Caldwell actually fled police in Nashville the night before as they tried to arrest him for aggravated rape. The chase resumed the next day on February 24th at the Tennessee- Georgia line on I-24. Caldwell weaved through rush hour traffic through downtown Chattanooga, before troopers finally spun him at the East Brainerd Road exit. The video shows many high speed collisions, including a trooper who went airborne trying to keep from hitting a car.
And eventually the spin and arrest of Caldwell.
While the driver he chased lay dying inside a Burning car, the state trooper kept going.
That's the accusation made in a $10 million wrongful-death lawsuit filed Tuesday by the driver's family in U.S. District Court. Gordon Kyle Anito, 20, died Nov. 26 after his 2005 Subaru Impreza hit a tree and caught fire around 3:30 a.m. near the corner of Hill Road and Andersonville Pike in North Knox County.
The fire burned Anito's body beyond recognition, according to the lawsuit.
The crash happened after Anito led Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Charles Van Morgan on a chase along Emory Road and Andersonville Pike. A video from Morgan's cruiser, filed as a court exhibit, shows the trooper passed the wreck and didn't stop.
Anito's parents, Tim Anito and Caira Garcia, claim Morgan deliberately ignored the crash and left their son to die.
"After slowing nearly to a stop and seeing the wreck he fled the scene," their lawyer, Marcos M. Garza, wrote in the lawsuit. "The fire that engulfed Mr. Anito's car was completely avoidable."
Morgan couldn't be reached for comment Tuesday.
The THP has moved to fire Morgan, who remains on paid leave, but the agency won't say why. THP spokeswoman Dalya Qualls said a new policy, enacted in June by new Safety Commissioner Bill Gibbons, makes the termination letter secret — even though the agency for years routinely treated such documents as public records.
Qualls didn't answer questions about whether Morgan faces a separate criminal investigation.
The chase began after Morgan clocked Anito speeding along Emory Road at 79 mph in a 40 mph zone. Morgan made a U-turn, turned on his siren and emergency lights, and chased him. Anito didn't stop.
The chase continued onto Andersonville Pike. The video shows the trooper passing the wrecked car on his right in silence, slowing down and then speeding back up.
"I've lost sight of the vehicle," Morgan reported. "I'm going to terminate (the chase). ... I didn't see anything."
The video shows him pulling over about a half-mile down the road and sitting parked for about three minutes.
The car didn't move until a Knox County Sheriff's Office deputy reported passing a wreck. The video shows Morgan turning his cruiser around and heading back.
The video shows Morgan reaching the scene, where the car sat crumpled and burning against the tree.
"Oh, goodness gracious," Morgan groaned. "Oh, no. Oh, God. ... The vehicle's on fire. I can't get to him."
The November chase wasn't the first pursuit by Morgan that raised questions. Knoxville police reviewed video from the trooper's car after April Lawanna Keck, 22, died in an early-morning crash off Chapman Highway in March 2010. That crash happened after Keck led Morgan on a three-mile chase that topped 100 mph. Her body wasn't found until the next day.

A highway patrol is either a police unit created primarily for the purpose of overseeing and enforcing traffic safety compliance on roads and highways, or a detail within an existing local or regional police agency that is primarily concerned with such duties.
Duties of highway patrols or traffic police may include the following:
In Argentina, traffic policing is the responsibility of the Argentine National Gendarmerie.
In Australia, traffic policing is the responsibility of the state police forces. Each force has its own traffic sections, often a local section in each area and a statewide section.
In Brazil, traffic policing is the responsibility of state and federal police forces accordingly to the highway administration status. State administered highways (usually shorter, within state borders, two-way, single lane, lower traffic) are policed by a branch of the Military Police forces, called State Highway Military Police. At the same time Federal highways and roads (longer, crossing state borders, some double lane and high-traffic) are the responsibility of the Federal Highway Police.

2016 The Tennessee Highway Patrol has released video from the troopers chasing Cordarius Caldwell along I 24 and 75 last month. Caldwell actually fled police in Nashville the night before as they tried to arrest him for aggravated rape. The chase resumed the next day on February 24th at the Tennessee- Georgia line on I-24. Caldwell weaved through rush hour traffic through downtown Chattanooga, before troopers finally spun him at the East Brainerd Road exit. That's the accusation made in a $10 million wrongful-death lawsuit filed Tuesday by the driver's family in U.S. District Court. Gordon Kyle Anito, 20, died Nov. 26 after his 2005 Subaru Impreza hit a tree and caught fire around 3:30 a.m. near the corner of Hill Road and Andersonville Pike in North Knox County. The fire burned Anito's body beyond recognition, according to the lawsuit. The crash happened after Anito led Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Charles Van Morgan on a chase along Emory Road and Andersonville Pike. That's the accusation made in a $10 million wrongful-death lawsuit filed Tuesday by the driver's family in U.S. District Court. Gordon Kyle Anito, 20, died Nov. 26 after his 2005 Subaru Impreza hit a tree and caught fire around 3:30 a.m. near the corner of Hill Road and Andersonville Pike in North Knox County.
The fire burned Anito's body beyond recognition, according to the lawsuit.
The crash happened after Anito led Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Charles Van Morgan on a chase along Emory Road and Andersonville Pike. A video from Morgan's cruiser, filed as a court exhibit, shows the trooper passed the wreck and didn't stop.
Anito's parents, Tim Anito and Caira Garcia, claim Morgan deliberately ignored the crash and left their son to die.
"After slowing nearly to a stop and seeing the wreck he fled the scene," their lawyer, Marcos M. Garza, wrote in the lawsuit. "The fire that engulfed Mr. Anito's car was completely avoidable."
Morgan couldn't be reached for comment Tuesday.
The THP has moved to fire Morgan, who remains on paid leave, but the agency won't say why. THP spokeswoman Dalya Qualls said a new policy, enacted in June by new Safety Commissioner Bill Gibbons, makes the termination letter secret — even though the agency for years routinely treated such documents as public records.
Qualls didn't answer questions about whether Morgan faces a separate criminal investigation.
The chase began after Morgan clocked Anito speeding along Emory Road at 79 mph in a 40 mph zone. Morgan made a U-turn, turned on his siren and emergency lights, and chased him. Anito didn't stop.
The chase continued onto Andersonville Pike. The video shows the trooper passing the wrecked car on his right in silence, slowing down and then speeding back up.
"I've lost sight of the vehicle," Morgan reported. "I'm going to terminate (the chase). ... I didn't see anything."
The video shows him pulling over about a half-mile down the road and sitting parked for about three minutes.
The car didn't move until a Knox County Sheriff's Office deputy reported passing a wreck. The video shows Morgan turning his cruiser around and heading back.
The video shows Morgan reaching the scene, where the car sat crumpled and burning against the tree.
"Oh, goodness gracious," Morgan groaned. "Oh, no. Oh, God. ... The vehicle's on fire. I can't get to him."
The November chase wasn't the first pursuit by Morgan that raised questions. Knoxville police reviewed video from the trooper's car after April Lawanna Keck, 22, died in an early-morning crash off Chapman Highway in March 2010. That crash happened after Keck led Morgan on a three-mile chase that topped 100 mph. Her body wasn't found until the next day.

The Clarksville Police Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Kentucky State Police, Christian County Sheriff’s Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, Hopkinsville Police Department and Oak Grove Police Department will be conducting roadside safety checkpoints and saturation patrols on May 20th, 2016 and May 21st, 2016 in Montgomery County, Tennessee and Christian County, Kentucky. The locations of the checkpoints will be on U.S. 41-A near the state line. Saturation Patrols will be on U.S. 41-A, Tenn. State Routes 374 & 236, Ky. State Routes 400, 115 & 911. 2016 The Tennessee Highway Patrol has released video from the troopers chasing Cordarius Caldwell along I 24 and 75 last month. Caldwell actually fled police in Nashville the night before as they tried to arrest him for aggravated rape. The chase resumed the next day on February 24th at the Tennessee- Georgia line on I-24. Caldwell weaved through rush hour traffic through downtown Chattanooga, before troopers finally spun him at the East Brainerd Road exit. The video shows many high speed collisions, including a trooper who went airborne trying to keep from hitting a car. And eventually the spin and arrest of Caldwell. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has released video from the troopers chasing Cordarius Caldwell along I 24 and 75 last month. Caldwell actually fled police in Nashville the night before as they tried to arrest him for aggravated rape.
The chase resumed the next day on February 24th at the Tennessee- Georgia line on I-24.
Caldwell weaved through rush hour traffic through downtown Chattanooga, before troopers finally spun him at the East Brainerd Road exit.
The video shows many high speed collisions, including a trooper who went airborne trying to keep from hitting a car.

Clip one is Cpl. Keith Eremea of the Arkansas State Police on a traffic stop discovering a man with an unusual amount of police scanners in his car trunk. The man is charged with driving without a license and without insurance. Clip two is Cpl. Cliff Miller of the Georgia State Patrol stopping and ultimately arresting a DUI suspect. They find that a Chevrolet Caprice they pulled over is possibly stolen and a "chop" job consisting of various parts from different model years. Ultimately they find a large cache of crack cocaine hidden on the drivers person which falls out of his pants right in front of the Troopers. Troopers Richard Blanco, Mike King, and Otto Bottin along with other FHP Troopers take another dangerious drug trafficker known to use several aliases off Florida Highways as part of the FHP Criminal Interdiction program.
Next, Trooper Jamie Brown with the Georgia State Patrol is on a traffic stop in downtown Atlanta when he and officers from Atlanta Police Department come under gunfire from an unknown suspect shooting at them from a building closeby. SWAT Team members from APD are called in to try and subdue and arrest the suspect but the suspect is never found.
Florida State Trooper Scott Coley stops a van in Ft. Laurderdale, FL only to discover that there is a loaded .357 magnum inside along with knit masks and indications of possible criminal activity. Back-up is called in from the Broward Co Sheriff's Office to help Trooper Coley investigate the situation further.

when the Galt police received a call that Freeway Frida had been spotted on Highway 99. And with the help of the California Highway Patrol, who stopped traffic on the busy road, Officer Sylvia Coelho was able to intercept the pooch and safely transfer her to the VCA Bradshaw Animal Hospital where the dog was diagnosed with malnutrition, dehydration and a broken leg....
