"The History of Hindu India" (Part One) was developed by the editors of Hinduism Today magazine in collaboration with Dr. Shiva Bajpai, Professor Emeritus of History, California State University Northridge. It is intended to provide an authentic presentation of the early history of India and Hinduism for use in American 6th grade social study classes, as well as Hindu temple study groups and general presentations on the Hindu religion and history.
This documentary is based on the first chapter of the textbook, The History of Hindu India, published in 2011. It covers Indian history from the Indus-Saraswati Civilization up to the Gupta period (to 300 ce). The Hindu concept of God is explained, along with the key concepts of karma, dharma, ahimsa and reincarnation, the practice of temple worship, major saints and the main Hindu scriptures.

Mantra (Sanskrit मंत्र) means a sacred utterance, numinous sound, or a syllable, word, phonemes, or group of words believed by some to have psychological and spiritual power. Mantra may or may not be syntactic or have literal meaning; the spiritual value of mantra comes when it is audible, visible, or present in thought.
Earliest mantras were composed in Vedic times by Hindus in India, and those are at least 3000 years old.Mantras are now found in various schools of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. Similar hymns, chants, compositions and concepts are found in Zoroastrianism, Taoism, Christianity and elsewhere.
The use, structure, function, importance and types of mantras vary according to the school and philosophy of Hinduism and of Buddhism. Mantras serve a central role in the tantric school of Hinduism. In this school, mantras are considered equivalent to deities, a sacred formula and deeply personal ritual, and considered to be effective only after initiation. However, in other schools of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism or Sikhism, this is not so.
Mantras come in many forms, including ṛc (verses from Rigveda for example) and sāman (musical chants from the Sāmaveda for example). They are typically melodic, mathematically structured meters, resonant with numinous qualities. At its simplest, the word ॐ (Aum, Om) serves as a mantra. In more sophisticated forms, they are melodic phrases with spiritual interpretations such as human longing for truth, reality, light, immortality, peace, love, knowledge and action. In other forms, they are literally meaningless, yet musically uplifting and spiritually meaningful

It opens with magnificent footage of the famed Kailasanatha Temple in Maharashtra, then presents the political history of India at a time when a third of the world's population lived there. It explores the Gupta Empire, the Huna invasions, the visits of Buddhist monks Faxian and Xuanzang, the initial incursions of Arab Muslim armies in the 8th century, and the rise of the great Chola kingdom of South India. City and village life is described, along with marriage arranging and jati, the joint family structure. This period also witnessed the beginning of the Bhakti Movement and the construction of thousands of famous and still active Hindu temples.

Biografi Dr. Zakir Naik:
Zakir Naik terlahir pada 18 Oktober, 1965 Mumbai (Bombay pada waktu itu) beliau adalah seorang pembicara umum Muslim India, dan penulis keislaman dan perbandingan agama. Sejak 1991 ia telah menjadi seorang ulama yang terlibat dalam dakwah Islam dan perbandingan agama.
Rekaman video dan DVD ceramahnya banyak didistribusikan. Beliau adalah pemilik Peace TV, sebuah stasiun televisi Islami. Zakir Naik juga adalah pendiri dan presiden Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) sebuah organisasi nirlaba. Topik yang sering ia bicarakan mencakup: Islam dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Modern, Persamaan Islam dan Kristen, Kristologi, Islam dan Sekularisme, Ketuhanan Yesus Kristus, Penyaliban Yesus, Ketuhanan Yesus, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Bibel, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Kitab Hindu, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Kitab Buddha, dsb.

Dan kita lihat dari ceramah-ceramahnya di YouTube, banyak orang-orang non-Muslim tersebut termasuk pendeta, pandid, dsb yang tadinya melakukan debat agama dengan beliau namun akhirnya masuk Islam (menjadi muallaf) di acara beliau. Mereka memberikan kesaksian bahwa Islam adalah agama kebenaran.
Diantara pendapat itu adalah tentang mukjizat Quran. Al-qur’an yang telah turun 1400 tahun yang lalu merupakan salah satu kitab yang menurut beliau adalah kitab yang sangat luar biasa, karena didalamnya terdapat fenomena yang tak sedikit fenomena itu di ketemukan pada akhir-akhir ini.
Dr. Zakir Naik dengan kemampuan yang dimilikinya berupa hafalan yang teramat kuat tidak hanya mampu menghafalkan Al-Qur’an dan Shahih Bukhari Muslim, akan tetapi beliau juga telah menguasai kitab Weda, Tripitaka, Bhagavad gita, bahkan telah menggerakkan hati ribuan penganut Hindu di India dan menjadi mu’allaf. Beliau tanpa ragu-ragu juga mengoreksi pastur dan pendeta jika mereka salah dalam mengutip ayat-ayat dalam bible atau injil.
Namun, tidak seperti gurunya, yaitu Syekh Ahmed Deedat, Dr. Zakir Naik tidak memiliki banyak agenda Debat Terbuka layaknya Ahmed Deedat karena hampir semua tantangan debat yang dilayangkan oleh Dr. Zakir Naik banyak yang tidak mendapat respon dari gereja, bahkan sampai sekarang belum ada berita apakah ada Pendeta yang berani berhadapan langsung dengan beliau. Oleh karena itu, Dr. Zakir Naik dijuluki “Ahmed Deedat Plus” yang telah membuat pastur dan pendeta merasa ngeri berhadapan dengan beliau yang argumentasinya belum pernah terpatahkan.
Naik pernah mengajak debat terbuka kepada Paus Benediktus dimana tantangan debat tersebut tidak direspon. Debatnya pada tahun 2006 dengan Sri Sri Ravi Shankar dengan topik "Konsep Ketuhanan dalam Hinduisme dan Islam" yang diadakan di kota Bangalore, India, mengalami sukses besar. Beliau berhasil membuktikan bahwa Islam adalah agama kebenaran yang diwahyukan Allah kepada nabi penutup dan terakhir, Nabi Muhammad s.a.w.
Dakwah-dakwahnya disampaikan dengan mudah dapat diakses melalui situs youtube yang kebanyakan berasal dari saluran Peace TV yang direkam dengan kefasihan beliau dalam berbahasa Inggris, bahkan beberapa telah disertai subtitle Indonesia.
Dr. Zakir Naik muncul secara rutin di berbagai channel TV di lebih dari 100 negara di seluruh dunia. Dia secara berkala diwawancara dan diundang ke acara-acara radio maupun TV. Selain itu, beliau juga menulis banyak buku dengan judul "The Quran and Modern Science – Compatible or Incompatible", "Is the Quran God's Word?", "Women in Islam – Protected or Subjugated", "Concept of God in Major Religions", dan "Answers to Non-Muslims Common Questions about Islam."

The word Hindu is derived from the Sanskrit word Sindhu, first mentioned in the Rig Veda, was the historic local appellation for the Indus River in the northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent.

The usage of the word Hindu was further popularized for Arabs and further west by the Arabic term al-Hind referring to the land of the people who live across river Indus and the Persian term Hindū referring to all Indians. Zakir Abdul Karim Naik (Urdu: ذاکر عبدالکریم نائیک; born 18 October 1965) is an Indian public speaker on the subject of Islam and comparative religion. He is the founder and president of the Islamic Research Foundation (IRF), a non-profit organisation that owns the Peace TV channel based in Dubai, UAE. He is sometimes referred to as a televangelist. Before becoming a public speaker, he trained as a doctor. He has written two booklets on Islam and comparative religion. He is regarded as an exponent of the Salafi ideology; he places a strong emphasis on individual scholarship and the rejection of "blind Taqlid", which has led him to repudiate the relevance of sectarian or Madh'hab designations, all the while reaffirming their importance.
Zakir Abdul Karim Naik was born on 18 October 1965 in Mumbai, India. He attended St. Peter's High School in Mumbai. Later he enrolled at Kishinchand Chellaram College, before studying medicine at Topiwala National Medical College and Nair Hospital and later the University of Mumbai, where he obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). His wife, Farhat Naik, works for the women's section of the IRF.

This documentary is based on the first chapter of the textbook, The History of Hindu India, published in 2011. It covers Indian history from the Indus-Saraswati Civilization up to the Gupta period (to 300 ce). The Hindu concept of God is explained, along with the key concepts of karma, dharma, ahimsa and reincarnation, the practice of temple worship, major saints and the main Hindu scriptures.

Mantra may or may not be syntactic or have literal meaning; the spiritual value of mantra comes when it is audible, visible, or present in thought.
Earliest mantras were composed in Vedic times by Hindus in India, and those are at least 3000 years old.Mantras are now found in various schools of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. Similar hymns, chants, compositions and concepts are found in Zoroastrianism, Taoism, Christianity and elsewhere.
The use, structure, function, importance and types of mantras vary according to the school and philosophy of Hinduism and of Buddhism. Mantras serve a central role in the tantric school of Hinduism. It is intended to provide an authentic presentation of the history of India and Hinduism for use in American middle and high school classes, as well as Hindu temple study groups and general presentations on the Hindu religion and history.
Covering Indian history from 300 to 1100 ce, this documentary is based on the second chapter of the textbook, "The History of Hindu India," published in 2011. It opens with magnificent footage of the famed Kailasanatha Temple in Maharashtra, then presents the political history of India at a time when a third of the world's population lived there. It explores the Gupta Empire, the Huna invasions, the visits of Buddhist monks Faxian and Xuanzang, the initial incursions of Arab Muslim armies in the 8th century, and the rise of the great Chola kingdom of South India. City and village life is described, along with marriage arranging and jati, the joint family structure. This period also witnessed the beginning of the Bhakti Movement and the construction of thousands of famous and still active Hindu temples.

Biografi Dr. Zakir Naik:
Zakir Naik terlahir pada 18 Oktober, 1965 Mumbai (Bombay pada waktu itu) beliau adalah seorang pembicara umum Muslim India, dan penulis keislaman dan perbandingan agama. Sejak 1991 ia telah menjadi seorang ulama yang terlibat dalam dakwah Islam dan perbandingan agama.
Rekaman video dan DVD ceramahnya banyak didistribusikan. Beliau adalah pemilik Peace TV, sebuah stasiun televisi Islami. Zakir Naik juga adalah pendiri dan presiden Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) sebuah organisasi nirlaba. Topik yang sering ia bicarakan mencakup: Islam dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Modern, Persamaan Islam dan Kristen, Kristologi, Islam dan Sekularisme, Ketuhanan Yesus Kristus, Penyaliban Yesus, Ketuhanan Yesus, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Bibel, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Kitab Hindu, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Kitab Buddha, dsb.
Jika kita melihat tayangan video Dr. Zakir Naik di Youtube, ceramah beliau tidak hanya hanya orang Islam saja juga oleh kristen, hindu, buddha, bahkan ateisme. Dan kita lihat dari ceramah-ceramahnya di YouTube, banyak orang-orang non-Muslim tersebut termasuk pendeta, pandid, dsb yang tadinya melakukan debat agama dengan beliau namun akhirnya masuk Islam (menjadi muallaf) di acara beliau. Mereka memberikan kesaksian bahwa Islam adalah agama kebenaran.
Diantara pendapat itu adalah tentang mukjizat Quran. Al-qur’an yang telah turun 1400 tahun yang lalu merupakan salah satu kitab yang menurut beliau adalah kitab yang sangat luar biasa, karena didalamnya terdapat fenomena yang tak sedikit fenomena itu di ketemukan pada akhir-akhir ini.
Dr. Zakir Naik dengan kemampuan yang dimilikinya berupa hafalan yang teramat kuat tidak hanya mampu menghafalkan Al-Qur’an dan Shahih Bukhari Muslim, akan tetapi beliau juga telah menguasai kitab Weda, Tripitaka, Bhagavad gita, bahkan telah menggerakkan hati ribuan penganut Hindu di India dan menjadi mu’allaf. Beliau tanpa ragu-ragu juga mengoreksi pastur dan pendeta jika mereka salah dalam mengutip ayat-ayat dalam bible atau injil.
Namun, tidak seperti gurunya, yaitu Syekh Ahmed Deedat, Dr. Zakir Naik tidak memiliki banyak agenda Debat Terbuka layaknya Ahmed Deedat karena hampir semua tantangan debat yang dilayangkan oleh Dr. Zakir Naik banyak yang tidak mendapat respon dari gereja, bahkan sampai sekarang belum ada berita apakah ada Pendeta yang berani berhadapan langsung dengan beliau. Oleh karena itu, Dr. Zakir Naik dijuluki “Ahmed Deedat Plus” yang telah membuat pastur dan pendeta merasa ngeri berhadapan dengan beliau yang argumentasinya belum pernah terpatahkan.
Naik pernah mengajak debat terbuka kepada Paus Benediktus dimana tantangan debat tersebut tidak direspon. Debatnya pada tahun 2006 dengan Sri Sri Ravi Shankar dengan topik "Konsep Ketuhanan dalam Hinduisme dan Islam" yang diadakan di kota Bangalore, India, mengalami sukses besar. Beliau berhasil membuktikan bahwa Islam adalah agama kebenaran yang diwahyukan Allah kepada nabi penutup dan terakhir, Nabi Muhammad s.a.w.
Dakwah-dakwahnya disampaikan dengan mudah dapat diakses melalui situs youtube yang kebanyakan berasal dari saluran Peace TV yang direkam dengan kefasihan beliau dalam berbahasa Inggris, bahkan beberapa telah disertai subtitle Indonesia.
Dr. Zakir Naik muncul secara rutin di berbagai channel TV di lebih dari 100 negara di seluruh dunia. Dia secara berkala diwawancara dan diundang ke acara-acara radio maupun TV. Selain itu, beliau juga menulis banyak buku dengan judul "The Quran and Modern Science – Compatible or Incompatible", "Is the Quran God's Word?", "Women in Islam – Protected or Subjugated", "Concept of God in Major Religions", dan "Answers to Non-Muslims Common Questions about Islam."

Zakir Naik terlahir pada 18 Oktober, 1965 Mumbai (Bombay pada waktu itu) beliau adalah seorang pembicara umum Muslim India, dan penulis keislaman dan perbandingan agama. Sejak 1991 ia telah menjadi seorang ulama yang terlibat dalam dakwah Islam dan perbandingan agama.
Rekaman video dan DVD ceramahnya banyak didistribusikan. Beliau adalah pemilik Peace TV, sebuah stasiun televisi Islami. Zakir Naik juga adalah pendiri dan presiden Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) sebuah organisasi nirlaba. Topik yang sering ia bicarakan mencakup: Islam dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Modern, Persamaan Islam dan Kristen, Kristologi, Islam dan Sekularisme, Ketuhanan Yesus Kristus, Penyaliban Yesus, Ketuhanan Yesus, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Bibel, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Kitab Hindu, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Kitab Buddha, dsb.
Jika kita melihat tayangan video Dr. Zakir Naik di Youtube, ceramah beliau tidak hanya hanya orang Islam saja juga oleh kristen, hindu, buddha, bahkan ateisme. Dan kita lihat dari ceramah-ceramahnya di YouTube, banyak orang-orang non-Muslim tersebut termasuk pendeta, pandid, dsb yang tadinya melakukan debat agama dengan beliau namun akhirnya masuk Islam (menjadi muallaf) di acara beliau. Mereka memberikan kesaksian bahwa Islam adalah agama kebenaran.
Diantara pendapat itu adalah tentang mukjizat Quran. Al-qur’an yang telah turun 1400 tahun yang lalu merupakan salah satu kitab yang menurut beliau adalah kitab yang sangat luar biasa, karena didalamnya terdapat fenomena yang tak sedikit fenomena itu di ketemukan pada akhir-akhir ini.
Dr. Zakir Naik dengan kemampuan yang dimilikinya berupa hafalan yang teramat kuat tidak hanya mampu menghafalkan Al-Qur’an dan Shahih Bukhari Muslim, akan tetapi beliau juga telah menguasai kitab Weda, Tripitaka, Bhagavad gita, bahkan telah menggerakkan hati ribuan penganut Hindu di India dan menjadi mu’allaf. Beliau tanpa ragu-ragu juga mengoreksi pastur dan pendeta jika mereka salah dalam mengutip ayat-ayat dalam bible atau injil.
Namun, tidak seperti gurunya, yaitu Syekh Ahmed Deedat, Dr. Zakir Naik tidak memiliki banyak agenda Debat Terbuka layaknya Ahmed Deedat karena hampir semua tantangan debat yang dilayangkan oleh Dr. Zakir Naik banyak yang tidak mendapat respon dari gereja, bahkan sampai sekarang belum ada berita apakah ada Pendeta yang berani berhadapan langsung dengan beliau. Oleh karena itu, Dr. Zakir Naik dijuluki “Ahmed Deedat Plus” yang telah membuat pastur dan pendeta merasa ngeri berhadapan dengan beliau yang argumentasinya belum pernah terpatahkan.
Naik pernah mengajak debat terbuka kepada Paus Benediktus dimana tantangan debat tersebut tidak direspon. Debatnya pada tahun 2006 dengan Sri Sri Ravi Shankar dengan topik "Konsep Ketuhanan dalam Hinduisme dan Islam" yang diadakan di kota Bangalore, India, mengalami sukses besar. Beliau berhasil membuktikan bahwa Islam adalah agama kebenaran yang diwahyukan Allah kepada nabi penutup dan terakhir, Nabi Muhammad s.a.w.
Dakwah-dakwahnya disampaikan dengan mudah dapat diakses melalui situs youtube yang kebanyakan berasal dari saluran Peace TV yang direkam dengan kefasihan beliau dalam berbahasa Inggris, bahkan beberapa telah disertai subtitle Indonesia.
Dr. Zakir Naik muncul secara rutin di berbagai channel TV di lebih dari 100 negara di seluruh dunia. Dia secara berkala diwawancara dan diundang ke acara-acara radio maupun TV. Selain itu, beliau juga menulis banyak buku dengan judul "The Quran and Modern Science – Compatible or Incompatible", "Is the Quran God's Word?", "Women in Islam – Protected or Subjugated", "Concept of God in Major Religions", dan "Answers to Non-Muslims Common Questions about Islam."
Gurunya, Syekh Ahmed Deedat, memberikan plakat pada tahun 2000 yang dipersembahkan sebagai hadiah kepada Naik karena pencapaiannya di bidang dakwah dan studi perbandingan agama. Indian Express membuat daftar "100 Orang India Terkuat 2009" di antara satu milyar penduduk India, Zakir Naik masuk peringkat 82. Dalam daftar khusus "10 Guru Spiritual Terbaik India", Zakir Naik ada di peringkat 3, setelah Baba Ramdev dan Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, menjadi satu-satunya Muslim di daftar ini.

The meaning of the word Kanyadaan, quite literally means 'gifting a girl'. And this is really as an Asian wedding photographer, its important to know the significance of religious ceremonies within each faith.
This is actually performed in almost every Hindu marriage whereby the father, or equivalent puts the hand of his beloved daughter into the grooms’ hand.
As this is being done, various vedic mantras are spoken or chanted to really ensure the bond between couple will remain strong between them. This is the exact moment when it is believe that the girl / female, is separated from her family and is bonded into the boy / males family.
Sometimes the Kanyadaan can be referred to as the Mahadaan, the word Maha means “powerful”, or “mighty”, and the word daan, means “giving”, the Mahadaan is the powerful giving, the ultimate giving, where the daughter is given to the groom. Biografi Dr. Zakir Naik:
Zakir Naik terlahir pada 18 Oktober, 1965 Mumbai (Bombay pada waktu itu) beliau adalah seorang pembicara umum Muslim India, dan penulis keislaman dan perbandingan agama. Sejak 1991 ia telah menjadi seorang ulama yang terlibat dalam dakwah Islam dan perbandingan agama.
Rekaman video dan DVD ceramahnya banyak didistribusikan. Perkataannya disiarkan pada akhir pekan di saluran Peace TV, sebuah stasiun televisi milik beliau. Zakir Naik juga adalah pendiri dan presiden Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) sebuah organisasi nirlaba. Topik yang sering ia bicarakan mencakup: Islam dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Modern, Persamaan Islam dan Kristen, Kristologi, Islam dan Sekularisme, Ketuhanan Yesus Kristus, Penyaliban Yesus, Ketuhanan Yesus, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Bibel, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Kitab Hindu, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Kitab Buddha, dsb.
Jika kita melihat tayangan video Dr. Zakir Naik di Youtube, ceramah beliau tidak hanya hanya orang Islam saja juga oleh kristen, hindu, buddha, bahkan ateisme. Dan kita lihat dari ceramah-ceramahnya di YouTube, banyak orang-orang non-Muslim tersebut termasuk pendeta, pandid, dsb yang tadinya melakukan debat agama dengan beliau namun akhirnya masuk Islam (menjadi muallaf) di acara beliau. Mereka memberikan kesaksian bahwa Islam adalah agama kebenaran.
Diantara pendapat itu adalah tentang mukjizat Quran. Al-qur’an yang telah turun 1400 tahun yang lalu merupakan salah satu kitab yang menurut beliau adalah kitab yang sangat luar biasa, karena didalamnya terdapat fenomena yang tak sedikit fenomena itu di ketemukan pada akhir-akhir ini.
Dr. Zakir Naik dengan kemampuan yang dimilikinya berupa hafalan yang teramat kuat tidak hanya mampu menghafalkan Al-Qur’an dan Shahih Bukhari Muslim, akan tetapi beliau juga telah menguasai kitab Weda, Tripitaka, Bhagavad gita, bahkan telah menggerakkan hati ribuan penganut Hindu di India dan menjadi mu’allaf. Beliau tanpa ragu-ragu juga mengoreksi pastur dan pendeta jika mereka salah dalam mengutip ayat-ayat dalam bibble atau injil.
Namun, tidak seperti gurunya, yaitu Syekh Ahmed Deedat, Dr. Zakir Naik tidak memiliki banyak agenda Debat Terbuka layaknya Ahmed Deedat karena hampir semua tantangan debat yang dilayangkan oleh Dr. Zakir Naik banyak yang tidak mendapat respon dari gereja, bahkan sampai sekarang belum ada berita apakah ada Pendeta yang berani berhadapan langsung dengan beliau. Oleh karena itu, Dr. Zakir Naik dijuluki “Ahmed Deedat Plus” yang telah membuat pastur dan pendeta merasa ngeri berhadapan dengan beliau yang argumentasinya belum pernah terpatahkan.
Naik pernah mengajak debat terbuka kepada Paus Benediktus dimana tantangan debat tersebut tidak direspon. Debatnya pada tahun 2006 dengan Sri Sri Ravi Shankar dengan topik "Konsep Ketuhanan dalam Hinduisme dan Islam" yang diadakan di kota Bangalore, India, mengalami sukses besar. Beliau berhasil membuktikan bahwa Islam adalah agama kebenaran yang diwahyukan Allah kepada nabi penutup dan terakhir, Nabi Muhammad s.a.w.
Dakwah-dakwahnya disampaikan dengan mudah dapat diakses melalui situs youtube yang kebanyakan berasal dari saluran Peace TV yang direkam dengan kefasihan beliau dalam berbahasa Inggris, bahkan beberapa telah disertai subtitle Indonesia.
Dr. Zakir Naik muncul secara rutin di berbagai channel TV di lebih dari 100 negara di seluruh dunia. Dia secara berkala diwawancara dan diundang ke acara-acara radio maupun TV. Selain itu, beliau juga menulis banyak buku dengan judul "The Quran and Modern Science – Compatible or Incompatible", "Is the Quran God's Word?", "Women in Islam – Protected or Subjugated", "Concept of God in Major Religions", dan "Answers to Non-Muslims Common Questions about Islam."
Gurunya, Syekh Ahmed Deedat, memberikan plakat pada tahun 2000 yang dipersembahkan sebagai hadiah kepada Naik karena pencapaiannya di bidang dakwah dan studi perbandingan agama. The History of Hindu India (Part Three) was developed by the editors of Hinduism Today magazine in collaboration with Dr. Shiva Bajpai, Professor Emeritus of History, California State University Northridge. It is intended to provide an authentic presentation of the history of India and Hinduism for use in American middle and high school classes, as well as Hindu temple study groups and general presentations on the Hindu religion and history.
This documentary is based on the third chapter of the textbook, "The History of Hindu India," published in 2011. It covers Indian history from 1100 to 1850 ce, from the Arab Muslim invasions to British rule, a time of great difficulty for the Indian people. These extensive foreign invasions are recounted, including the plunder of the great Siva temple at Somnath, and the establishment of the Mughal Empire by the 16th century in most of India, its subsequent decline by the mid-18th century and the gradual control of India by the British. The documentary provides an account of the saints of the powerful Bhakti Movement, including Ramananda and Kabir. One section is devoted to an overview of the Sikh religion, from its founding in the 16th century by Guru Nanak to formation of the Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh in the 18th century. This is followed by a brief introduction to Indian music and its basic concepts of tala (rhythm), raga (scale) and improvisation.

These extensive foreign invasions are recounted, including the plunder of the great Siva temple at Somnath, and the establishment of the Mughal Empire by the 16th century in most of India, its subsequent decline by the mid-18th century and the gradual control of India by the British. The documentary provides an account of the saints of the powerful Bhakti Movement, including Ramananda and Kabir. One section is devoted to an overview of the Sikh religion, from its founding in the 16th century by Guru Nanak to formation of the Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh in the 18th century. This is followed by a brief introduction to Indian music and its basic concepts of tala (rhythm), raga (scale) and improvisation.

Biografi Dr. Zakir Naik:
Zakir Naik terlahir pada 18 Oktober, 1965 Mumbai (Bombay pada waktu itu) beliau adalah seorang pembicara umum Muslim India, dan penulis keislaman dan perbandingan agama. Sejak 1991 ia telah menjadi seorang ulama yang terlibat dalam dakwah Islam dan perbandingan agama.
Rekaman video dan DVD ceramahnya banyak didistribusikan. Perkataannya disiarkan pada akhir pekan di saluran Peace TV, sebuah stasiun televisi milik beliau. Zakir Naik juga adalah pendiri dan presiden Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) sebuah organisasi nirlaba. Topik yang sering ia bicarakan mencakup: Islam dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Modern, Persamaan Islam dan Kristen, Kristologi, Islam dan Sekularisme, Ketuhanan Yesus Kristus, Penyaliban Yesus, Ketuhanan Yesus, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Bibel, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Kitab Hindu, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Kitab Buddha, dsb.
Jika kita melihat tayangan video Dr. Zakir Naik di Youtube, ceramah beliau tidak hanya hanya orang Islam saja juga oleh kristen, hindu, buddha, bahkan ateisme. Dan kita lihat dari ceramah-ceramahnya di YouTube, banyak orang-orang non-Muslim tersebut termasuk pendeta, pandid, dsb yang tadinya melakukan debat agama dengan beliau namun akhirnya masuk Islam (menjadi muallaf) di acara beliau. Mereka memberikan kesaksian bahwa Islam adalah agama kebenaran.
Diantara pendapat itu adalah tentang mukjizat Quran. Al-qur’an yang telah turun 1400 tahun yang lalu merupakan salah satu kitab yang menurut beliau adalah kitab yang sangat luar biasa, karena didalamnya terdapat fenomena yang tak sedikit fenomena itu di ketemukan pada akhir-akhir ini.
Dr. Zakir Naik dengan kemampuan yang dimilikinya berupa hafalan yang teramat kuat tidak hanya mampu menghafalkan Al-Qur’an dan Shahih Bukhari Muslim, akan tetapi beliau juga telah menguasai kitab Weda, Tripitaka, Bhagavad gita, bahkan telah menggerakkan hati ribuan penganut Hindu di India dan menjadi mu’allaf. Beliau tanpa ragu-ragu juga mengoreksi pastur dan pendeta jika mereka salah dalam mengutip ayat-ayat dalam bibble atau injil.
Namun, tidak seperti gurunya, yaitu Syekh Ahmed Deedat, Dr. Zakir Naik tidak memiliki banyak agenda Debat Terbuka layaknya Ahmed Deedat karena hampir semua tantangan debat yang dilayangkan oleh Dr. Zakir Naik banyak yang tidak mendapat respon dari gereja, bahkan sampai sekarang belum ada berita apakah ada Pendeta yang berani berhadapan langsung dengan beliau. Oleh karena itu, Dr. Zakir Naik dijuluki “Ahmed Deedat Plus” yang telah membuat pastur dan pendeta merasa ngeri berhadapan dengan beliau yang argumentasinya belum pernah terpatahkan.
Naik pernah mengajak debat terbuka kepada Paus Benediktus dimana tantangan debat tersebut tidak direspon. Debatnya pada tahun 2006 dengan Sri Sri Ravi Shankar dengan topik "Konsep Ketuhanan dalam Hinduisme dan Islam" yang diadakan di kota Bangalore, India, mengalami sukses besar. Beliau berhasil membuktikan bahwa Islam adalah agama kebenaran yang diwahyukan Allah kepada nabi penutup dan terakhir, Nabi Muhammad s.a.w.
Dakwah-dakwahnya disampaikan dengan mudah dapat diakses melalui situs youtube yang kebanyakan berasal dari saluran Peace TV yang direkam dengan kefasihan beliau dalam berbahasa Inggris, bahkan beberapa telah disertai subtitle Indonesia.
Dr. Zakir Naik muncul secara rutin di berbagai channel TV di lebih dari 100 negara di seluruh dunia. Dia secara berkala diwawancara dan diundang ke acara-acara radio maupun TV. Selain itu, beliau juga menulis banyak buku dengan judul "The Quran and Modern Science – Compatible or Incompatible", "Is the Quran God's Word?", "Women in Islam – Protected or Subjugated", "Concept of God in Major Religions", dan "Answers to Non-Muslims Common Questions about Islam."

Mencantumkan pendapat Ibnu Hajar al-Haitami dan menyatakan bahwa selamatan kematian adalah bid'ah yang hina namun tidak sampai diharamkan dan merujuk juga kepada Kitab Ianatut Thalibin.
Namun Nahdliyin generasi berikutnya menganggap pentingnya tahlilan tersebut sejajar (bahkan melebihi) rukun Islam/Ahli Sunnah wal Jama'ah. Sekalipun seseorang telah melakukan kewajiban-kewajiban agama, namun tidak melakukan tahlilan, akan dianggap tercela sekali, bukan termasuk golongan Ahli Sunnah wal Jama'ah.
Di zaman akhir yang ini dimana keadaan pengikut sunnah seperti orang 'aneh' asing di negeri sendiri, begitu banyaknya orang Islam yang meninggalkan kewajiban agama tanpa rasa malu, seperti meninggalkan Sholat Jum'at, puasa Romadhon,dll.
Sebaliknya masyarakat begitu antusias melaksanakan tahlilan ini, hanya segelintir orang yang berani meninggalkannya. Bahkan non-muslim pun akan merasa kikuk bila tak melaksanakannya. Padahal para ulama terdahulu senantiasa mengingat dalil-dalil yang menganggap buruk walimah (selamatan) dalam suasana musibah tersebut.

Muktamar NU ke-1 di Surabaya tanggal 13 Rabiuts Tsani 1345 H/21 Oktober 1926
Mencantumkan pendapat Ibnu Hajar al-Haitami dan menyatakan bahwa selamatan kematian adalah bid'ah yang hina namun tidak sampai diharamkan dan merujuk juga kepada Kitab Ianatut Thalibin.
Namun Nahdliyin generasi berikutnya menganggap pentingnya tahlilan tersebut sejajar (bahkan melebihi) rukun Islam/Ahli Sunnah wal Jama'ah. Sekalipun seseorang telah melakukan kewajiban-kewajiban agama, namun tidak melakukan tahlilan, akan dianggap tercela sekali, bukan termasuk golongan Ahli Sunnah wal Jama'ah.
Di zaman akhir yang ini dimana keadaan pengikut sunnah seperti orang 'aneh' asing di negeri sendiri, begitu banyaknya orang Islam yang meninggalkan kewajiban agama tanpa rasa malu, seperti meninggalkan Sholat Jum'at, puasa Romadhon,dll.
Sebaliknya masyarakat begitu antusias melaksanakan tahlilan ini, hanya segelintir orang yang berani meninggalkannya. Bahkan non-muslim pun akan merasa kikuk bila tak melaksanakannya. Padahal para ulama terdahulu senantiasa mengingat dalil-dalil yang menganggap buruk walimah (selamatan) dalam suasana musibah tersebut.
Dari sahabat Jarir bin Abdullah al-Bajali: "Kami (para sahabat) menganggap kegiatan berkumpul di rumah keluarga mayit, serta penghidangan makanan oleh mereka merupakan bagian dari niyahah (meratapi mayit)".
