The Four Seasons (Italian: Le quattro stagioni) is a set of four violin concertos by Antonio Vivaldi. Composed around 1720, The Four Seasons is Vivaldi's best-known work, and is among the most popular pieces in the Baroque music repertoire. The texture of each concerto is varied, each resembling its respective season. For example, "Winter" is peppered with silvery pizzicato notes from the high strings, calling to mind icy rain, whereas "Summer" evokes a thunderstorm in its final movement, which is why the movement is often called "Storm" (as noted in the list of derivative works)

A. As instruments became modernized in the 19th century, builders and players tended to focus on the volume of sound and the stability of tuning. The Four Seasons (Vivaldi)
The Four Seasons (Italian: Le quattro stagioni) is a group of four violin concerti by Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi, each of which gives a musical expression to a season of the year. They were written about 1723 and were published in 1725 in Amsterdam, together with eight additional violin concerti, as Il cimento dell'armonia e dell'inventione ("The Contest Between Harmony and Invention").
The Four Seasons is the best known of Vivaldi's works. Unusually for the time, Vivaldi published the concerti with accompanying poems (possibly written by Vivaldi himself) that elucidated what it was about those seasons that his music was intended to evoke. It provides one of the earliest and most-detailed examples of what was later called program music—music with a narrative element.
Vivaldi took great pains to relate his music to the texts of the poems, translating the poetic lines themselves directly into the music on the page. In the middle section of the Spring concerto, where the goatherd sleeps, his barking dog can be marked in the viola section. Other natural occurrences are similarly evoked. Vivaldi separated each concerto into three movements, fast-slow-fast, and likewise each linked sonnet into three sections. His arrangement is as follows:

Violin Sonata No. 5 (Beethoven)
The Violin Sonata No. 5 in F major, Opus 24, is a violin sonata by Ludwig van Beethoven. It is often known as the "Spring" sonata (Frühlingssonate), and was published in 1801. Its dedicatee was Count Moritz von Fries, a patron to whom the fourth violin sonata, the string quintet of the same year, and the seventh symphony were also dedicated.
The work is in four movements:
The Scherzo and its trio are particularly brief. The entire sonata takes approximately 22 minutes to perform. The "Spring Sonata" was the name given to it after Beethoven died.
The Allegro movement is featured in the stage show Fame.

Composed around 1720, The Four Seasons is Vivaldi's best-known work, and is among the most popular pieces in the Baroque music repertoire. The texture of each concerto is varied, each resembling its respective season. For example, "Winter" is peppered with silvery pizzicato notes from the high strings, calling to mind icy rain, whereas "Summer" evokes a thunderstorm in its final movement, which is why the movement is often called "Storm" (as noted in the list of derivative works)

Q. What are period instruments or original instruments; how are they different from modern instruments?
A. As instruments became modernized in the 19th century, builders and players tended to focus on the volume of sound and the stability of tuning. Modern steel strings replaced the older materials, and instruments were often machine made. Historical instruments, built individually by hand and with overall lighter construction, have extremely complex overtones—which we find delightful. Modern instruments are of course perfectly suited to more modern music.

This is a compilation video I put together using footage of commercials and episodes from shows that played on Saturday mornings (from 8 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon) on network television (ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX) in the year 1991. Several people asked about my contribution to Pee-wee's Playhouse after I posted the Zyzzyballubah piece. I co-wrote the first 23 episodes of the series, played the puppets GLOBEY, THE COWNTESS, THE FISH, A FLOWER, and PTERRI in Season Two. I also got to see it recorded at a studio in Manhattan by the great CYNDY LAUPER. This series was my first writing credit, and was the biggest boost to my career, and still a great credit I'm proud of.

It's Saturday morning, 1991. You want to watch Fox Kids, but your little sister wants to see what's on NBC. Looks like it's time to channel surf through some Saturday morning cartoons.
This is a compilation video I put together using footage of commercials and episodes from shows that played on Saturday mornings (from 8 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon) on network television (ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX) in the year 1991. Certain shows (like The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Garfield and Friends, Bobby's World, and Saved by the Bell to name a few) can't be used for copyright reasons. To get around this, we're going to "change the channel" to a show that isn't blocked. Think of this video as a retro remix or a bootleg Saturday morning broadcast.
This is the sixteenth Saturday morning cartoon compilation video I've uploaded, but the first channel surfing edition one. I thought of this gimmick when I realized, as a kid, I didn't really stay on one network for the entire Saturday morning. I usually flipped around and watched whatever I liked. Apparently I wasn't alone, as I've gotten comments from people saying they used to change the channel as well. Then when I was looking at old television schedules, I realized that could pretty easily avoid copyright blocks by simply "changing the channel" to a show that wasn't copyright blocked. This video was actually completed and uploaded on March 1st, but I had so many videos ahead of it on the schedule that it couldn't come out until May 1st.
For this video, I think it turned out rather well. I got to use a lot of shows that I hadn't featured in previous videos, with the only returning show being Pee-Wee's Playhouse. And while ABC has a lot of shows in this video, I think the other networks were also pretty fairly represented. One issue I came across was the 11:00AM slot, where pretty much the only option there was WWF Superstars. That show runs for an hour, but I don't really like hour long blocks of the same show. Ultimately, I decided to cut it at the 30 minute point for Pee-Wee's Playhouse, and provide a link for the rest of it (which you can find below). I also decided to go beyond noon to show the CBS Storybreak (as well as get in Little Rosey), and I definitely want to do that again with an ABC Weekend Special in a future video. Overall, I think this little "experiment" turned out rather well. I really like the gimmick, and would recommend others use it as well if you're making these kind of compilations. I definitely plan to do more like these in the future. I hope you enjoyed it as well.

I co-wrote the first 23 episodes of the series, played the puppets GLOBEY, THE COWNTESS, THE FISH, A FLOWER, and PTERRI in Season Two. I also provided the voice and dialogue for the "educational" films, made two on-screen appearances and co-wrote this, the theme song, with Paul Reubens and Mark Mothersbaugh. I also got to see it recorded at a studio in Manhattan by the great CYNDY LAUPER. This series was my first writing credit, and was the biggest boost to my career, and still a great credit I'm proud of.

This is a compilation video I put together using footage of commercials and episodes from shows that played on Saturday mornings (from 8 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon) on network television (ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX) in the year 1990. This is the nineteenth Saturday morning cartoon compilation video I've uploaded, as well as the fourth channel surfing edition. I really like this one because I was able to use a couple shows that previously weren't possible. For The Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show, I went through a lot of the title cards for the show, and then looked to see which cartoons would work. I was able to find about four cartoons (all of them starring Sylvester), so I used the ones I could. For Slimer & The Real Ghostbusters, I just use a Real Ghostbusters episode (which are all being uploaded on an official channel right now) and "change the channel" before the Slimer segment (which were always the weaker segments), and while that particular episode probably wouldn't have played as a part of Slimer & The Real Ghostbusters, I used it anyway because I like it. ♫ Oh what a beautiful morning ~ ♫ and that's because it's a Saturday morning, which means it's time for some cartoons from the year 1990. Get your PJs and cereal ready, and get comfy.
This is a compilation video I put together using footage of commercials and episodes from shows that played on Saturday mornings (from 8 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon) on network television (ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX) in the year 1990. Certain shows (like The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Garfield and Friends, Bobby's World, and Saved by the Bell to name a few) can't be used for copyright reasons. To get around this, we're going to "change the channel" to a show that isn't blocked. Think of this video as a retro remix or a bootleg Saturday morning broadcast.
This is the nineteenth Saturday morning cartoon compilation video I've uploaded, as well as the fourth channel surfing edition. I really like this one because I was able to use a couple shows that previously weren't possible. For The Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show, I went through a lot of the title cards for the show, and then looked to see which cartoons would work. I was able to find about four cartoons (all of them starring Sylvester), so I used the ones I could. For Slimer & The Real Ghostbusters, I just use a Real Ghostbusters episode (which are all being uploaded on an official channel right now) and "change the channel" before the Slimer segment (which were always the weaker segments), and while that particular episode probably wouldn't have played as a part of Slimer & The Real Ghostbusters, I used it anyway because I like it. The Four Seasons (Italian: Le quattro stagioni) is a set of four violin concertos by Antonio Vivaldi. Composed around 1720, The Four Seasons is Vivaldi's best-known work, and is among the most popular pieces in the Baroque music repertoire. The texture of each concerto is varied, each resembling its respective season. For example, "Winter" is peppered with silvery pizzicato notes from the high strings, calling to mind icy rain, whereas "Summer" evokes a thunderstorm in its final movement, which is why the movement is often called "Storm" (as noted in the list of derivative works)

The Four Seasons (Vivaldi)
The Four Seasons (Italian: Le quattro stagioni) is a group of four violin concerti by Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi, each of which gives a musical expression to a season of the year. They were written about 1723 and were published in 1725 in Amsterdam, together with eight additional violin concerti, as Il cimento dell'armonia e dell'inventione ("The Contest Between Harmony and Invention").
The Four Seasons is the best known of Vivaldi's works. Unusually for the time, Vivaldi published the concerti with accompanying poems (possibly written by Vivaldi himself) that elucidated what it was about those seasons that his music was intended to evoke. It provides one of the earliest and most-detailed examples of what was later called program music—music with a narrative element.
Vivaldi took great pains to relate his music to the texts of the poems, translating the poetic lines themselves directly into the music on the page. In the middle section of the Spring concerto, where the goatherd sleeps, his barking dog can be marked in the viola section. Other natural occurrences are similarly evoked. Vivaldi separated each concerto into three movements, fast-slow-fast, and likewise each linked sonnet into three sections. His arrangement is as follows:

John Paragon, the actor who portrayed Jambi the Genie on "Pee-wee's Playhouse," has died. He was 66.
John is best known for his work on children's show Pee-wee's Playhouse where he played Jambi the Genie and voiced Pterri the Pterodactyl. In addition to writing many of the regular season episodes of Pee-wee's Playhouse (1986), John also co-wrote with Paul Reubens the acclaimed "Pee-wee's Playhouse Christmas Special" in 1988, for which they were nominated an Emmy Award for Best Writing in a Children's Special.

It's Saturday morning, 1991. You want to watch Fox Kids, but your little sister wants to see what's on NBC. Looks like it's time to channel surf through some Saturday morning cartoons.
This is a compilation video I put together using footage of commercials and episodes from shows that played on Saturday mornings (from 8 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon) on network television (ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX) in the year 1991. Certain shows (like The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Garfield and Friends, Bobby's World, and Saved by the Bell to name a few) can't be used for copyright reasons. To get around this, we're going to "change the channel" to a show that isn't blocked. Think of this video as a retro remix or a bootleg Saturday morning broadcast.
This is the sixteenth Saturday morning cartoon compilation video I've uploaded, but the first channel surfing edition one. I thought of this gimmick when I realized, as a kid, I didn't really stay on one network for the entire Saturday morning. I usually flipped around and watched whatever I liked. Apparently I wasn't alone, as I've gotten comments from people saying they used to change the channel as well. Then when I was looking at old television schedules, I realized that could pretty easily avoid copyright blocks by simply "changing the channel" to a show that wasn't copyright blocked. This video was actually completed and uploaded on March 1st, but I had so many videos ahead of it on the schedule that it couldn't come out until May 1st.
For this video, I think it turned out rather well. I got to use a lot of shows that I hadn't featured in previous videos, with the only returning show being Pee-Wee's Playhouse. And while ABC has a lot of shows in this video, I think the other networks were also pretty fairly represented. One issue I came across was the 11:00AM slot, where pretty much the only option there was WWF Superstars. That show runs for an hour, but I don't really like hour long blocks of the same show. Ultimately, I decided to cut it at the 30 minute point for Pee-Wee's Playhouse, and provide a link for the rest of it (which you can find below). I also decided to go beyond noon to show the CBS Storybreak (as well as get in Little Rosey), and I definitely want to do that again with an ABC Weekend Special in a future video. Overall, I think this little "experiment" turned out rather well. I really like the gimmick, and would recommend others use it as well if you're making these kind of compilations. I definitely plan to do more like these in the future. I hope you enjoyed it as well.

Several people asked about my contribution to Pee-wee's Playhouse after I posted the Zyzzyballubah piece. I co-wrote the first 23 episodes of the series, played the puppets GLOBEY, THE COWNTESS, THE FISH, A FLOWER, and PTERRI in Season Two. I also provided the voice and dialogue for the "educational" films, made two on-screen appearances and co-wrote this, the theme song, with Paul Reubens and Mark Mothersbaugh. I also got to see it recorded at a studio in Manhattan by the great CYNDY LAUPER. This series was my first writing credit, and was the biggest boost to my career, and still a great credit I'm proud of.

♫ Oh what a beautiful morning ~ ♫ and that's because it's a Saturday morning, which means it's time for some cartoons from the year 1990. Get your PJs and cereal ready, and get comfy.
This is a compilation video I put together using footage of commercials and episodes from shows that played on Saturday mornings (from 8 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon) on network television (ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX) in the year 1990. Certain shows (like The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Garfield and Friends, Bobby's World, and Saved by the Bell to name a few) can't be used for copyright reasons. To get around this, we're going to "change the channel" to a show that isn't blocked. Think of this video as a retro remix or a bootleg Saturday morning broadcast.
This is the nineteenth Saturday morning cartoon compilation video I've uploaded, as well as the fourth channel surfing edition. I really like this one because I was able to use a couple shows that previously weren't possible. For The Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show, I went through a lot of the title cards for the show, and then looked to see which cartoons would work. I was able to find about four cartoons (all of them starring Sylvester), so I used the ones I could. For Slimer & The Real Ghostbusters, I just use a Real Ghostbusters episode (which are all being uploaded on an official channel right now) and "change the channel" before the Slimer segment (which were always the weaker segments), and while that particular episode probably wouldn't have played as a part of Slimer & The Real Ghostbusters, I used it anyway because I like it. Most the shows aren't ones I've used before, with the only real returning shows being Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (which I've used quite a bit in these compilations) and the ABC Weekend Special. Well, anyhow, I hope you enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
