Dennis Carl Wilson (December 4, 1944 – December 28, 1983) was an American musician, singer, and songwriter who co-founded the Beach Boys. He is best remembered as their drummer, as the middle brother of bandmates Brian and Carl Wilson, and for his brief association with murder-conspirator Charles Manson.
Dennis served mainly on drums and backing vocals for the Beach Boys from its formation until his death in 1983. He was the only true surfer in the group, and his personal life exemplified the "California Myth" that the group's early songs often celebrated. While he was allowed few lead vocals in the 1960s, his prominence as a singer-songwriter increased into the 1970s. His original songs for the band included "Forever", "Little Bird", and "Slip On Through". He also helped pen "You Are So Beautiful", which became a hit for Joe Cocker in 1974.
His only solo album, Pacific Ocean Blue (1977), was released to positive reviews, but a moderate commercial reception. Written and recorded over a span of several years, the album, peaked on US record charts at number 96 during a 12-week stay. Sessions for a follow-up, Bambu, disintegrated before Wilson's death.
Dennis or Denis is a first or last name from the Greco-Roman name Dionysius, via one of the Christian saints named Dionysius.
The name came from Dionysus, the Greek god of wine, which is sometimes said to be derived from the Greek Dios (Διός, "of Zeus") and Nysos or Nysa (Νῦσα), where the young god was raised. Dionysus (or Dionysos; also known as Bacchus in Roman mythology and associated with the Italic Liber), the Thracian god of wine, represents not only the intoxicating power of wine, but also its social and beneficent influences. He is viewed as the promoter of civilization, a lawgiver, and lover of peace — as well as the patron deity of both agriculture and the theater.
Dionysus is a god of mystery religious rites, such as those practiced in honor of Demeter and Persephone at Eleusis near Athens. In the Thracian mysteries, he wears the "bassaris" or fox-skin, symbolizing new life. (See also Maenads.)
A mediaeval Latinised form of the Anglo-Norman surname Le Denys was Dacus, which correctly meant Dacian, but when the Vikings were about was often used to mean "Danish" or "The Dane". The name became modernised as Denys, then later as Dennis.
Wilson may refer to:
The Pacific Ocean is the largest of the Earth's oceanic divisions. It extends from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the Southern Ocean (or, depending on definition, to Antarctica) in the south and is bounded by Asia and Australia in the west and the Americas in the east.
At 165.25 million square kilometers (63.8 million square miles) in area, this largest division of the World Ocean—and, in turn, the hydrosphere—covers about 46% of the Earth's water surface and about one-third of its total surface area, making it larger than all of the Earth's land area combined.
The equator subdivides it into the North Pacific Ocean and South Pacific Ocean, with two exceptions: the Galápagos and Gilbert Islands, while straddling the equator, are deemed wholly within the South Pacific. The Mariana Trench in the western North Pacific is the deepest point in the world, reaching a depth of 10,911 metres (35,797 ft).
The eastern Pacific Ocean was first sighted by Europeans in the early 16th century when Spanish explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa crossed the Isthmus of Panama in 1513 and discovered the great "southern sea" which he named Mar del Sur. The ocean's current name was coined by Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan during the Spanish circumnavigation of the world in 1521, as he encountered favourable winds on reaching the ocean. He called it Mar Pacifico, which in both Portuguese and Spanish means "peaceful sea".
The Ocean Blue, formed in Hershey, Pennsylvania in 1986, is an American indie pop band that combines melodic guitars and synthesizers. Its core original members included David Schelzel (born September 26, 1967) on lead vocals/guitar, Steve Lau on keyboards/saxophone, Bobby Mittan on bass guitar and Rob Minnig on drums and vocals.
Its current line-up includes David Schelzel on lead vocals/guitar, Oed Ronne on keyboards/guitar/vocals, Bobby Mittan on bass guitar and Peter Anderson on drums.
The band's sound may be best described as jangly guitar-based modern rock. Influences include such bands as The Smiths, Cocteau Twins, R.E.M., Echo & the Bunnymen and New Order. The Ocean Blue's earliest shows always consisted of a healthy dose of covers by these bands. To this day, The Smiths and New Order covers still punctuate concert encores.
The members of The Ocean Blue first met in junior high school. They cut a series of demos while in high school, with Scott Stouffer sitting in on drums. They managed to get two of these earliest recordings, "On Growing Up" and "Wounds Of A Friend", included on a local radio station compilation in late 1986. The compilation also included very early work from friends and mentors of The Ocean Blue, noted local artists, The Innocence Mission. Rob Minnig, would join as permanent drummer in 1987, and the classic line-up of Schelzel/Lau/Minnig/Mittan would continue through 1994.

"Lady" is a song written and sung by The Beach Boys' drummer, Dennis Wilson. "Lady" was inspired by Dennis' then wife, Barbara Charren. The song was the B-side of the "Sound Of Free" single, recorded with Darryl Dragon (of The Captain & Tennille) and released as Dennis Wilson and Rumbo. The record was released in the United Kingdom on December 4, 1970; it was not released in the United States. In 2009 a new mix of the song (created and mixed by Mark Linnett) appeared on The Beach Boys' compilation album, Summer Love Songs, under the title "Fallin' In Love". This YouTube video features the 2009 mix.
"Love Remember me" was written by Dennis Wilson, Gregg Jakobson, and Stephen Kalinich. The song was recorded in 1977 for Bambu, which was intended to be the follow-up to Pacific Ocean Blue, Dennis Wilson's 1977 solo album. Bambu was never completed, but several songs from the sessions were released in 2008 on Pacific Ocean Blue - The Legacy Edition.

News footage and raw video of The Beach Boys' San Diego Padres Post Game Show on May 8, 1982 The first part of the video are the stories from the local news stations regarding the concert. The second part consists of the raw footage that was taken by one of the news station's cameraman. He gets some of the songs but is told to back off after a while so he goes for crowd shots and the occasional glimpse of the stage. Seeing as footage of this concert - one of Dennis' last - is hard to come by, I think it's pretty cool to see.

This documentary tells (using modern day interviews and archival footage and sound tapes) the story of how in 1967, while his band The Beach Boys triumphantly toured abroad, Brian Wilson was trying to push the boundaries of conventional pop music with a new follow-up to the Beach Boys' cutting-edge mega-hit, Pet Sounds. The new album was to be called "SMiLE". SMiLE pushed the envelope both musically and lyrically, and was supposed to out-do the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper record. But Brian wasn't able to sell the project to his band-mates when they returned. The project was shelved and Wilson's well-documented decline into depression, drug abuse, recluseness, and obesity had begun. Thirty-odd years later, Wilson announced that in 2004, SMiLE would be performed live in its entirety in London. This...

I am your constant companion
Never drifting from your side
Always laughing as you wonder
Who you are, what you are
And what you are here for
Distant voices have been calling
Reaching out from inner space
All the colors you imagine
Are shining in my eyes
The colors that will guide you
I will stay with you forever
I've got more love to share
We will carry on together
Being free, moving free
That's what we are here for
I can hear the sound of thunder
As your children march to war
I will listen as they tell you
Who you are, what you are
And what you are here for
I am your constant companion
We have traveled here before
And even if you don't remember
Who you are, what you are
And what you are here for
I am your life-time companion
I know the secrets of your soul
I have the answer to the question
Carried by the wind
Blowing deep inside you
I am your constant companion
Never drifting from your side
Always laughing as you wonder
Who you are, what you are
