According to a tender posted this week by the Department of Canadian Heritage, one will be a "pyromusical fireworks display" lasting 20 minutes or more, part of an as-yet unannounced Canada 150 kickoff event on Parliament Hill ... On Thursday, Joly presided over a ceremony on a scalding-hot plaza outside the Canadian Museum of History marking the start of the 150-day countdown to the official launch of the 2017 celebrations....

The state government approved construction of a memorial for Dalit victims massacred 25 years ago by upper caste landlords at Tsundur village in Guntur district ... The foundation for the memorial (pylon) would be laid by prominent Dalit leaders on Saturday, exactly 25 years from the day of the massacre ... They sought funds and permission for the construction of the memorial....

The Fort Bliss competition crammed a series of mental and physical tests into three days and two nights in the vast Fort Bliss training area. Temperatures topped 100 degrees during the day ... The competition began with participants having to complete a series of warrior tasks and drills in under 15 minutes ... The final day finished up with the Army physical fitness test, doing sutures on a piece of meat and then calling for artillery fire....
