Kamleshwar Mahadev Temple located at Srinagar in Uttarakhand is dedicated to Shiva. The Vaikunth Chaturdashi in Kartik Month is a highly auspicious day at the temple. Vaikunth Chaturdashi 2014 date at Kamleshwar Mahadev Temple is November 5. A night long jagran (staying awake) and lighting of lamps is held at the temple.
Legend has it that Sri Ram worshipped Shiva here with 1000 lotus flowers. But Sri Ram could find only 999 lotus flowers. It is said that Sri Ram offered his one of his eyes instead of the 1000th lotus flower. Thus the deity worshipped here is also known as Kamal Nayan.
Thousands of people stay awake on the night of Vaikunth Chaturdasi and light lamps at the temple.
Srinagar is located at the left bank of Alaknanda river. It has an average elevation of 560 metres (1,837 feet). It is the largest city in the Garhwal Hills. It is reached by national highway NH58 from Rishikesh, Srinagar is about 100 km from Rishikesh which is the last city on the plains of Uttarakhand and from where the mountains start.

Kamleshwar (Hindi: कमलेश्वर; 6 January 1932 – 27 January 2007) was a prominent 20th-century Hindi writer, and scriptwriter for Hindi cinema and television. Among his most well-known work are the films Aandhi, Mausam, Chhoti Si Baat and Rang Birangi. He was awarded the 2003 Sahitya Akademi Award for his Hindi novel Kitne Pakistan (translated in English as Partitions), and also the Padma Bhushan in 2005.
Considered a part of the league of Hindi writers like Mohan Rakesh, Nirmal Verma and Bhisham Sahni, who left the old pre-independence, literary preoccupations and presented the new sensibilities, that reflected new moorings of a post-independence India, thus launching, the Hindi literature's Nayi Kahani ("New Story") movement in the 1950s,
Biography
Early life and education
Kamleshwar Prasad Saxena was born in the Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh, India, where he spent his early years. Kamleshwar's first story, "Comrade", was published in 1948.
Later he did his graduation and followed by a Master's degree in Hindi literature from Allahabad University. His first novel, Badnam Gali (Cursed Lane), was published while he was still a student, he later started his literary career in Allahabad itself.

Tirlochan cons him by giving him a rock instead, and he brings it home, refuses to feed himself until and unless the Thakara shares his humble offerings. As a result, the entire community, including Laali and Bhagwanti, think Dhanna has lost his mind.

Legend has it that Sri Ram worshipped Shiva here with 1000 lotus flowers. But Sri Ram could find only 999 lotus flowers. It is said that Sri Ram offered his one of his eyes instead of the 1000th lotus flower. Thus the deity worshipped here is also known as Kamal Nayan.
Thousands of people stay awake on the night of Vaikunth Chaturdasi and light lamps at the temple.
Srinagar is located at the left bank of Alaknanda river. It has an average elevation of 560 metres (1,837 feet). It is the largest city in the Garhwal Hills. It is reached by national highway NH58 from Rishikesh, Srinagar is about 100 km from Rishikesh which is the last city on the plains of Uttarakhand and from where the mountains start.
