Moonmadness is an album released March 1976 by English progressive rock band Camel. It was their 4th album & the last to feature the band's original line-up. Every track is a gem, particularly any tune which features Andy Latimer on vocals. Lunar Sea is brilliant! as is Air Born, and Song Within a Song. The essence of each track is subtly different..yet they all blend finely together to create a superb album. Spirit of the Water is the late Peter Bardens masterpiece - so simple and deeply moving for such a short tune. And, as always with Andy Latimer - brilliant, emotive guitar work. In fact, I think all the players are at their best here. Moonmadness is a fantastic album and one of my favorites from the group that sounds great when relaxing or just listening with friends. When human beings write honest music, sometimes it works on a level that I believe they never thought was even possible, because the feeling of connection can be unbelievably strong. It's really a great experience listening to Camel's music and getting caught up in their peaceful and honest dream world. Very highly recommended along with the debut, The Snow Goose, Mirage and Rain Dances (1977).

A camel is an even-toed ungulate within the genus Camelus, bearing distinctive fatty deposits known as humps on its back. There are two species of camel: Dromedary, or one-humped camels, which are native to Arabia and other parts of the Middle East, and Bactrian, or two-humped camels, which live in Central Asia. Both species have been domesticated; they provide milk and meat, and are working animals.
The term camel is derived via Latin and Greek from Hebrew or Phoenician gāmāl, possibly from a verb root meaning 'to bear/carry' (related to Arabic jamala).
Camel is also used more broadly to describe any of the six camel-like creatures in the family camelidae: the two true camels, and the four South American camelids: the llama, alpaca, guanaco, and vicuña.
The average life expectancy of a camel is 40 to 50 years. A fully grown adult camel stands 1.85 m (6 ft 1 in) at the shoulder and 2.15 m (7 ft 1 in)[clarification needed] at the hump. The hump rises about 75 cm (30 in) out of its body. Camels can run at up to 65 km/h (40 mph) in short bursts and sustain speeds of up to 40 km/h (25 mph).

Moonmadness is an album released March 1976 by English progressive rock band Camel. It was their 4th album & the last to feature the band's original line-up. Every track is a gem, particularly any tune which features Andy Latimer on vocals. Lunar Sea is brilliant! as is Air Born, and Song Within a Song. The essence of each track is subtly different..yet they all blend finely together to create a superb album. Spirit of the Water is the late Peter Bardens masterpiece - so simple and deeply moving for such a short tune. And, as always with Andy Latimer - brilliant, emotive guitar work. Moonmadness is an album released March 1976 by English progressive rock band Camel. It was their 4th album & the last to feature the band's original line-up. Every track is a gem, particularly any tune which features Andy Latimer on vocals. Lunar Sea is brilliant! as is Air Born, and Song Within a Song. The essence of each track is subtly different..yet they all blend finely together to create a superb album. Spirit of the Water is the late Peter Bardens masterpiece - so simple and deeply moving for such a short tune. And, as always with Andy Latimer - brilliant, emotive guitar work. In fact, I think all the players are at their best here. Moonmadness is a fantastic album and one of my favorites from the group that sounds great when relaxing or just listening with friends. When human beings write honest music, sometimes it works on a level that I believe they never thought was even possible, because the feeling of connection can be unbelievably strong. It's really a great experience listening to Camel's music and getting caught up in their peaceful and honest dream world. Very highly recommended along with the debut, The Snow Goose, Mirage and Rain Dances (1977).

►The Story of the Weeping Camel.
Mongolian: Ингэн нулимс, Ingen nulims, "Tears of the Camel"
is a 2003 German docudrama released internationally in 2004.
►During Spring, a family of nomadic shepherds
in the Gobi Desert, South Mongolia,
assists the births of their camel herd.
The last camel to calve this season has
a protracted labor that persists for two days.
With the assistance and intervention of the family,
a rare white bactrian camel (Camelus bactrianus) calf is born.
This is the mother camel's first calving.
Despite the efforts of the shepherds,
the mother rejects the newborn, refusing it her milk
and failing to establish a care-bond with it.
The family resolve to secure the services
of an indigenous 'violinist' to play
the music for a Mongolian 'Hoos' ritual.
When repeatedly intoned the calming sounds
and beautiful melody of the violin,
the mother camel starts to weep,
tears visibly streaming from her eyes.
Immediately after the rite the mother and calf
are reconciled and the calf draws milk from her teat.

Just a short clip from yesterday. A storm blew a plastic bin into Nessie's pasture. She was pretty sure it was trying to kill her. But I think she showed it! It was an epic battle of camel vs bin. Who do you think won? The camel or the bin?
