CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin called out the network’s law enforcement analyst, Harry Houck, on Tuesday for referring to a black activist from Chicago as “you people.”
After Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced that he had fired Police Supt. Garry McCarthy over fallout from Laquan McDonald’s shooting, Baldwin asked Houck and NAACP Youth President Stephen Green for their reaction.
Houck took the side of the outgoing police chief, saying that Emanuel should have been made to resign instead.
“This mayor should be impeached, he should resign,” the former NYPD detective opined. “The National Guard should go into Chicago, take that city back from the thugs.”
Green explained that activists had called on the Justice Department to do a “top-down investigation over the overall patterns and practices of the Chicago Police Department.”
“This isn’t new,” he pointed out. “When you have a police department that has its own domestic Guantanamo Bay [Detention Center], when you have neglect on the South Side of Chicago, when you have cases that go unheard as it relates to young black children and queer and transgender voices, we have a problem in the city of Chicago.”
Houck charged that Green was refusing to call for Emanuel’s resignation because both men were Democrats.
“Aren’t you tired of dead black children on the streets of Chicago?” Houck exclaimed at Green. “Not from cops, but from thugs shooting at each other?”
“Of course, I’m tired,” Green replied. “I’m also tired of the neglect, I’m also tired of the economic depravity and education disparities in the city of Chicago. So, I’m not asking for a new face, I’m asking for a completely different song.”
“The only way to take back the inner city of Chicago is for police to go in there with aggressive police work,” Houck argued. “You’ve got to be able to point the fingers at the bad guys.”
Green, however, observed that Chicago’s “system” of oppression had “gone on for generations.”
“You want to talk about policing?” Green said. “Let’s also talk about education, let’s also talk about poverty, let’s also talk about housing. It is more than one issue and so we’re asking for complete and overall reform. Your message is very singular.”
“Maybe,” Houck shrugged. “I’m just tired of the police getting the brunt of everything that’s going on inside the inner city of Chicago.”
“You people,” the law enforcement analyst continued before he was interrupted by Baldwin.
“It’s not ‘you people,’ Harry,” the CNN host sighed. “Come on.”
“You people who live in Chicago,” Houck shouted, “should start voting for maybe another person, maybe a Republican, instead and see how he — a Republican — can come in there and straighten that city out.”
“We’re asking for transformation and change in the city of Chicago and we’re not silent,” Green remarked. “Much to your dismay and much to your upset, we’re not quiet.”
“For 20 years, you’ve been silent,” Houck grumbled.

Malcolm X: Most critics say that they dissatisfied follow Muhammad, that the unemployed and the oppressed follow Muhammad, and I think you'll agree, the sociologists, the economists and other experts say that the masses of black people are dissatisfied, unemployed, oppressed and fed up. So that, he actually gets his support at the mass level. But now you have other Negroes at the class level who pretend not to go for him because usually their job has been given to them by the white man, they have positions to which they have been appointed and they think that the only way that they can protect their job is by pretending in front of the white man that they don't go for Mr. Muhammad either. But you'll find he gets support at all levels.
McCuen: How many Muslims do you say there are in numbers?
Malcolm X: I couldn't say. I've never heard him say and he's the only one who would know.
McCuen: 500,000?
Malcolm X: I couldn't say. I think that anyone who does say is not in a position to know and anyone who knows, wouldn't say.
McCuen: What do you think that the Urban League and the NAACP have accomplished for your people. What's your attitude towards them?
Malcolm X: Well, in their own way, they have been doing their best to bring about freedom, justice and equality and human dignity for the black people in this country. But today you have such an intense degree of dissatisfaction and impatience existing among our people at the mass level that it is almost impossible to come to them with a program that's going to take another hundred years to solve their problem and they still be satisfied to wait. So the Urban League and the NAACP has done a good job within their understanding, but today, it takes more immediate solutions and the solution that the honorable Elijah Muhammad has is immediate. It's more practical.

Liberal, Social Justice Warrior and Feminist commits the ultimate insult on black and minority groups by Browning her face up, popping on a wig and claiming to be black and becoming president of NAACP!
Proving that in fact victim hood culture and movement is a money making scam.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3121061/Local-NAACP-leader-professor-African-studies-outed-WHITE-parents-convincing-community-black-years.html
An NAACP leader's parents have made a startling revelation: their daughter, for years a highly visible civil rights activist in Eastern Washington, is white.
Rachel Dolezal, Spokane's NAACP Chapter President and part-time Africana Studies professor at Eastern Washington University, has been misleading people about her ethnicity for years, her parents say.
Her mother even offered photographic proof. While today the 37-year-old divorcee currently sports tight, dark curls, her mom Ruthanne Dolezal showed KREM photos of the fair and freckled blonde daughter she once knew.
Dolezal is now facing a city ethics probe after she identified herself as black in an application to serve on a local police ombudsman commission - a position she secured.
According to her mother, Ruthanne began to 'disguise herself' in 2006 or 2007.
Other than some 'faint traces' of Native American blood, Ruthanne said the family background is Czech, Swedish and German.
However, that's not how her daughter identified herself when she became chairwoman of Spokane's Office of Police Ombudsman Commission.
In her application for the volunteer appointment, Dolezal marked herself down as white, black and American Indian, reports the Spokesman-Review.

SPOKANE, WASHINGTON — Rachel Dolezal, the president of National Association for the Advancement of Colored People chapter in Spokane, Washington, was outed as Caucasian on Thursday when her estranged parents presented proof of her ethnicity.
Dolezal had for years reported hate crimes towards her where no evidence was presented and no perpetrators were ever identified, prompting suspicions. Her race came into question after the most recent such incident, when she claimed to have "received" hate mail and death threats at the NAACP chapter's post office box.
Postal workers told authorities that the only way hate mail, which did not have a stamp or barcode, could have ended up in the PO box is if it had been placed there by a post office employee or someone with a key.
Dolezal denied the allegations and walked out of an interview witt Spokane ABC affiliate KXLY News. When asked about the situation by the Spokesman Review, she was evasive about her ethnic background, saying: "We're all from the African continent."
Dolezal is also an adjunct professor of Africana Studies at Eastern Washington University and the chair of an ombudsman commission to represent the interests of the area's minority groups in relations with the Spokane police.

Description: Freedom riders had started to travel across the south with the purpose of contributing to the cause of of eliminating discrimination based on race or ethnicity by testing segregation policies in bus terminals. In May of 1961, a bus carrying fourteen black and white freedom riders arrived at a bus station in Jackson, Mississippi, where they were escorted and guarded by armed troops, sixteen patrol cars, and an airplane. At a previous stop in Alabama, the bus had been attacked and passengers had been injured. After exiting the bus, the riders went inside of the bus station and attempted to use the "white only" restaurant and restrooms. When they refused to "move on," they were arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and/or inciting a riot rather than breaking Mississippi's segregation laws. In this documentary, there is footage of the bus carrying the freedom riders into Jackson, Mississippi, the riders unboarding the bus at the bus station, entering the bus station, and being escorted, under arrest, out of the bus station by Jackson police. A WKY reporter explains why integration had not been adopted in Mississippi. The documentary also includes interviews that reflect the attitudes held by different groups in regards to the issue of integrating Mississippi. William Simmons, the secretary of the White Citizens' Council, explains why he believes segregation should continue in Mississippi and responds to the reporter's questions concerning his views on equality. Medgar Evers, an African-American civil rights activist and field secretary for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), explains why he thinks Mississippi citizens were less aggressive than those in Alabama, as well as the lack of leadership in Jackson's black community. Charles Oldham, the national chairman of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), explains the purpose and goals of the freedom rides and how he believes the freedom rides will lead to changes in policies and attitudes that support integration. The reporter discusses Mississippi's resistance to change traditional institutions such as segregation and white supremacy. Mississippi's governor, Ross Barnett, speaks before an audience about how the behavior of Mississippi's white citizens during the bus's stop in Jackson. Men and women are stopped on the street by the reporter and share their opinions about integration and/or the Freedom Rides. The night of the freedom riders' trials, Jackson's black leaders hold a meeting. Footage of three men speaking to the 126 people who attended the meeting. Governor Barnett responds to questions about how long the state planned to finance the fight against integration. The documentary concludes with Oldham, Evers, and Simmons briefly explaining why they believe integration will or will not occur.

A white woman who for years convinced America she was black says she has lost her job and her friends after her true ethnicity was revealed.
But although Rachel Dolezal says she no longer identifies as African-American, she still maintains she is "black" and has a connection with and awareness of the black experience.
Ms Dolezal's true identity was revealed in June when her parents revealed they were Caucasian and so was their daughter, who was a leading light in the US black civil rights movement.
The 37-year-old subsequently cut short a filmed interview with a news reporter when she was confronted with evidence that she was not African-American.
She subsequently stepped down as president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People chapter in Spokane, Washington.
In an interview with Vanity Fair she reveals she is now making a living braiding hair and says that if anyone was misled it was their fault for putting the wrong construction on her identity.
"I wouldn't say I'm African-American, but I would say I’m black, and there’s a difference in those terms," she told the magazine.
"I didn't deceive anybody. If people feel misled or deceived, then sorry that they feel that way, but I believe that's more due to their definition and construct of race in their own minds than it is to my integrity or honesty."
Ms Dolezal claims she recently received a traffic ticket from a police officer who identified her as black on the ticket without asking for her ethnicity.
But she defends her choice to identify as black by insisting the theme of "blackness" is an imprecise definition when applied to the African-American experience and to cultural identity.
"It's hard to collapse it all into just a single statement about what is," she says. "You can't just say in one sentence what is blackness or what is black culture or what makes you who you are.
"I don't know spiritually and metaphysically how this goes, but I do know that from my earliest memories I have awareness and connection with the black experience, and that's never left me.
"It’s not something that I can put on and take off anymore. I've had my years of confusion and wondering who I really [was] and why and how do I live my life and make sense of it all.
"But I’m not confused about that any longer. I think the world might be, but I'm not."
Ms Dolezal told the magazine she has lost her part-time teaching job on an Africana studies program and her other job at the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
"I’ve got to figure it out before August 1, because my last paycheck was like $1,800 in June," she said. "[I lost] friends and the jobs and the work and, oh, my God, so much at the same time."

Produced by Diamond Lewis, director of DCTV (DeKalb County Television), this production profiles the life and service of Rev. Hosea Williams. The video tribute was produced as part of DeKalb's commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of Bloody Sunday. The profile features an interview with the late civil rights leader's daughter, Elisabeth Omilami, as she joins thousands of others in the re-creation of the Selma to Montgomery March of 1965. That original march was led by Rev. Hosea Williams and sparked a chain of events leading to the passage of the Voting Rights Act.
A lifelong community leader, Rev. Williams also once served as a member of the DeKalb Board of Commissioners from 1990-1994.
This video tribute debuted during the live broadcast of the DeKalb Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting on March 10, 2015, during which Omilami accepted a proclamation in honor of her father.
Additional Rev. Hosea Williams Information:
Williams was born on January 5, 1926, in Attapulgus, Georgia, in the midst of racial intolerance. Even at an early age, he was nearly killed because of the color of his skin. During the 1950s, Williams was fully dedicated to the civil rights movement. He joined the Savannah chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and later joined the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and helped to lead the civil rights movement with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Andrew Young, John Lewis and many others who joined their fight for equality. During the civil rights movement, Williams not only witnessed unimaginable cruelty, but experienced it as well. As a civil rights leader, Williams led the march on the Edmund Pettus Bridge in 1965, where people were sprayed with tear gas and beaten as they marched for the freedom to vote. The event is now known as Bloody Sunday. Soon after this event, President Lyndon Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act that allowed African Americans to vote without restriction or fear of persecution. Through the years, Williams continued his role as a civil rights leader and philanthropist. In 1971, Williams and his wife Juanita founded Hosea Feed The Hungry and Homeless to help destitute people in the United States. Since its inception, the organization has distributed more than $3 billion in food, clothing, furniture, and much more. Williams dedicated his life to the service of others. This includes holding elective office on the Atlanta City Council and the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners.

NAACP activist Rachel Dolezal says she "understands" some may feel she misrepresented her ethnicity, as she sparks a social media storm.
President of the Spokane, Washington branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Rachel Dolezal reportedly identified herself as part African-American upon applying for her post on the city's citizen police ombudsman commission.
But networks including KXLY say public records show her parents are white couple Ruthanne and Lawrence - who subsequently confirmed their daughter is also white.
Her mother told The Spokesman Review the family had Czech, Swedish and German roots, with "faint traces" of Native American heritage - adding that her daughter began to "disguise herself" in 2006 or 2007.
"Rachel is very good at using her artistic skills to transform herself," she told the Coeur d'Alene Press.
Social media erupted after Ms Dolezal was directly questioned about her ethnicity during an interview with KXLY, whose reporter showed her a picture of her father and asked: "Is this your dad?"
She admitted it is, before being asked: "Are you African-American?"
"I don't understand the question. I did tell you that that's my dad," she replied, before abruptly walking away.
She later told KREM news that she "understood" people may feel she had been guilty of misrepresentation.
"It's more important for me to clarify that with the black community and with my executive board than it really is to explain it to a community that, quite frankly, don't really understand the definitions of race and ethnicity," she said.
Ms Dolezal's ethnicity was further confirmed by the emergence of an image of her as a child.
Mayor David Condon and City Council President Ben Stuckart said in a joint statement that an investigation had been launched.
"We are committed to independent citizen oversight and take very seriously the concerns raised regarding the chair of the independent citizen police ombudsman commission," they said.
"We are gathering facts to determine if any city policies related to volunteer boards and commissions have been violated. That information will be reviewed by the City Council, which has oversight of city boards and commissions."
A series of online videos have since been widely shared on social media, including one in which Dolezal gives a lecture on the cultural significance of black women's hair.
Some have also pointed to a post on the Spokane NAACP's Facebook page earlier this year which appeared to identify a black man as her father.
Others openly ridiculed Ms Dolezal, with Twitter user Desus Nice writing: "Next black people's meeting expect long lines. Everybody gotta reapply #RachelDolezal."
Another Twitter user, Danielle Henderson, wrote: "Her own mame outed her. HER OWN MAMA! That is the blackest thing that ever happened to her. #RachelDolezal."
Others pointed to more serious implications, with Musa Okwonga writing: "Re: #RachelDolezal, just watch - too many will say "oh, she's just crazy", and ignore the wider conversation about cultural appropriation."

Chancellor Williams was born on December 22, 1893, in Bennettsville, South Carolina, as the last of five children. His father had been born into slavery and had grown up to gain freedom and voting after the American Civil War. His mother Dorothy Ann Williams worked as a cook, nurse, and evangelist. The family suffered after Democrats regained power in the state legislature in the late 19th century and passed bills disfranchising blacks, as well as imposing racial segregation and white supremacy under Jim Crow. Williams' innate curiosity about racial inequality and cultural struggles, particularly those of African Americans, began as early as his fifth-grade year. Encouraged by a sixth-grade teacher, he sold The Crisis, published by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP); and The Norfolk Journal and Guide, as well as reading them and using their recommended books to direct his studies]
Years later, he was quoted in an interview as saying:
"I was very sensitive about the position of black people in the town... I wanted to know how you explain this great difference. How is it that we were in such low circumstances as compared to the whites? And when they answered 'slavery' as the explanation, then I wanted to know where we came from.

NAACP Official Who Resigned Says She Identifies as Black

Washington state civil rights advocate Rachel Dolezal, who has been accused of falsely claiming she is African American, said on Tuesday she identifies as black.
Dolezal, in an interview on NBC's Today show, said she began portraying herself as black as early as age 5 and that her identity was "not some freak ... mockery black-face performance."
Dolezal, 37, resigned on Monday as president of the Spokane chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, a leading U.S. civil rights organization, amid reports that her parents are white.
Dolezal, who grew up with adopted black siblings, said a major shift in her identity came when she was doing human rights work in Idaho and newspaper stories described her as transracial, biracial and black.
"I never corrected that," she said, "... because it's more complex than being true or false in that particular instance," she said.
Shown a picture of herself as a teenager with fair complexion and blond hair, Dolezal said, "I would say that visibly she would be identified as white by people who see her."
Her own concept of her race began when she was 5 years old, Dolezal said.
"I was drawing self-portraits with the brown crayon instead of the peach crayon and the black curly hair," she said.
Dolezal took issue with critics who have said that by presenting herself as African-American, she was putting on a black-face performance - an outdated act in which white actors used makeup to portray black stereotypes.
"I have a huge issue with black-face," she said. "This is not some freak ... mockery black-face performance. This is on a very real, connected level. I've actually had to go there with the experience," she said.
Dolezal said her two sons, who are black, had been supportive of her identity.
"I actually was talking to one of my sons yesterday," she said. "He said, 'Mom, racially, you're human and culturally you're black."

You all know why we’re here.
This video is going to be about Rachel Dolezal, the president of the NAACP’s Spokane, Washington chapter, and a white woman who has been ‘passing’ for Black for at least the last six years. Becoming enamored with Black culture after her (white) parents adopted Black children, she garnered multiple degrees in African-American studies before moving to Spokane, Washington.
A virtual unknown in Spokane, Dolezal set about reinventing herself as a Black woman, darkening her skin, changing her hair, and self-identifying as Black. She also created an elaborate backstory about her family and upbringing, which included allegations of abuse against her parents so no one would dig too deeply into her family, past, or home life.
Dolezal used her faux Blackness as a way to break into activism and politics, teaching classes on African-American Studies; in addition to teaching, she eventually worked her way up to President of the NAACP chapter. Many, however, suspected something was off, especially when Dolezal was the recipient of several untraceable ‘hate’ packages. Believing she had possibly sent them to herself and that she was not actually Black, a local newspaper contacted her biological family, who revealed the truth: she had been born a Caucasian woman.
This woman is clearly disturbed.
I am not of the mindset that 'Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery,’ and anyone that has taken a basic ‘Racism 101' class should understand cultural appropriation and why it's problematic. There has also been some really annoying chatter about how if ‘Black women are allowed to try to be white, then white women should be allowed to try to be Black.’ This is a false equivalence that does not take into account how Black women grow up in a white supremacist society that pushes Eurocentric beauty ideals. We don't literally want to be white; we have just been conditioned to think whiteness is beautiful. This woman literally wanted to be Black.
She has been occupying Black female spaces while in blackface, and she was utilizing and appropriating Black culture and experiences in order to further her career and occupy Black revolutionary spaces. There is a perversion to that. Although she has accomplished much in the Black community, it is viciously undercut by the fact that she did it not as herself, but as a white woman in blackface.
There have been white NAACP leaders in the past; there have even been militant pro-black white allies like John Brown. Everything she accomplished could have been accomplished without pretending to be Black. She just wanted to be Black SO BAD that she created this false racial identity (based off of caricatures) and committed to it.
As much as she knows about *being black* aka Black stereotypes, as much as she has educated herself on Black struggle or Black culture, as much as she has done for the Black community, she is not Black and will never be Black. She always has the option of going home, washing that lacquer off her skin, taking off that weave, and picking up her whiteness again if she feels like it. That is a crucial distinction to make, and one that proves the inherent issue with ‘ethnicity identity;’ similar to cultural appropriation, it is always in the favor of the dominant ethnicity.
It’s not about saying, 'Well, why can't we just be whatever we want?’ because this mindset is not even POSSIBLE without a certain amount of privilege. As we saw McKinney, whiteness is invisible. But to Black people and other POC, race is not some abstract concept, it is a solid marker of our identities. Black people never get to stop being Black. We NEVER get to say, 'You know what, I choose to ethnically identify as white today, so cops please stop profiling/harassing/killing me.'
Black people DON'T get to identify ourselves and live the lives we choose. We are constantly trying to navigate in hostile, oppressive spaces under white supremacy, and white people CONSTANTLY think they can cherry pick the *fun* parts of a Black racial/ethnic identity without having to deal with any of that pesky racism and oppression. We don't have that luxury. We don't have that PRIVILEGE. We're Black through the the good and the bad, and we can't pick an 'ethnic identity.' We were born Black into a society and a world, really, that sees Blackness as an issue, and we can't just choose to ethnically identify as something else and opt out of systemic oppression and racism.
Thanks for watching.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/12/us/washington-spokane-naacp-rachel-dolezal-identity/
The race of one of the most prominent faces in Spokane, Washington's black community is under question after her estranged mother claimed she is white but is "being dishonest and deceptive with her identity."
Rachel Dolezal, 37, is the head of the local chapter of the NAACP and has identified herself as at least partly African-American. But her Montana birth certificate says she was born to two parents who say they are Caucasian. The parents shared that document and old photos with CNN.
"We are her birth parents," Lawrence Dolezal told CNN on Friday. "We do not understand why she feels it's necessary to misrepresent her ethnicity."
CNN tried to reach Rachel Dolezal for comment by emailing and calling her, but was unsuccessful. The Spokane Spokesman-Review. newspaper reported, though, that she has framed the controversy surrounding her racial identity in the context of litigation over guardianship of her adopted brother.
According to court documents obtained by CNN, Rachel Dolezal's adopted brother, who is black, sought emancipation from Ruthanne and Lawrence Dolezal in 2010. The adopted brother, now 21, said the Dolezals used "physical forms of punishment" and had sent his brother and sister away to group homes because they didn't cooperate with the couple's religion and rules.
The adopted brother wanted to live with Rachel Dolezal "in a multiracial household where black culture is celebrated and I have a connection to the black community," the court papers said. The papers did not specify Rachel Dolezal's race.
The petition for emancipation was dropped. In a separate legal action in 2010, the court appointed Rachel Dolezal to be the adopted brother's guardian with the consent of Ruthanne and Lawrence Dolezal.
On Friday, the Dolezals told CNN they didn't want to comment on a possible "legal dispute" their daughter or the NAACP had mentioned.
One organization that appears to be standing behind her is the NAACP. The group, historically one of the most prominent in supporting causes important to the African-American community, said Friday that Dolezal is "enduring a legal issue with her family" and that "we respect her privacy in this matter."
"One's racial identity is not a qualifying criteria or disqualifying standard for NAACP leadership," the group said. "The NAACP Alaska-Oregon-Washington State Conference stands behind Ms. Dolezal's advocacy record."
For 15 years (1956-1971) the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) ran a broad and highly coordinated domestic intelligence / counterintelligence program known as COINTELPRO (COunter INTELligence PROgrams). What was originally deemed as a justifiable effort to protect the US during the Cold War from Soviet and Communist threats and infiltration, soon devolved into a program for suppressing domestic dissent and spying on American citizens. Approximately 20,000 people were investigated by the FBI based only on their political views and beliefs. Most were never suspected of having committed any crime.
The reasoning behind the program, as detailed in a 1976 Senate report, was that the FBI had “the duty to do whatever is necessary to combat perceived threats to the existing social and political order.” The fact that the “perceived threats” were usually American citizens engaging in constitutionally protected behaviour was apparently overlooked. The stated goal of COINTELPRO was to “expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit, or otherwise neutralize” any individual or group deemed to be subversive or a threat to the established power structure.
The first documentation that supported Rush's insightful allegation surfaced in March of 1971 when the Citizens Commission to Investigate the FBI broke into a small FBI office in Media Pennsylvania and expropriated over 1000 FBI documents. These documents exposed the FBI's super-secret and profoundly illegal COINTELPRO program and its focus in the 1960s on the black liberation movement and its leaders. Citing the assassinated Malcolm X as an example, Hoover directed all of the Bureau's Offices to "expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit, and otherwise neutralize" African American organizations and leaders including the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, the Nation of Islam, Martin Luther King, Stokley Carmichael, and H. Rap Brown.
John Potash, author of The FBI War On Tupac and Black Leaders, says the FBI Killed Tupac Shakur. His book is based on 12 years of research. It includes 1,000 endnotes, sources from over 100 interviews, FOIA-released CIA and FBI documents, court transcripts and more.
