The Dunlop engineers took great pains to bring the tone of this infamous pedal straight to you. Straight up Live at Fillmore tone and screaming fuzz is at your toetips with the Octavio. Complete with a switching Level knob to turn the unit off, the Jimi Hendrix Octavio recreates the exact breadboard circuit as the original.
The Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Octavio is fuzzy and warm. The Octavio is not a high output pedal. This baby was built to vintage spec and it sounds vintage. Put your strat in the magic neck position and solo around the 12th fret and you'll see what I mean. Purple Haze has never sounded so exact. The octave effect is subtle just like the original but in front of a cranked Marshall, nothing is subtle. This pedal is best used in front of an already cranked amp, but can be used as a primary fuzz pedal by increasing the Fuzz knob. If you've been looking for that secret tone, the Jimi Hendrix Octavio is it.

James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix; November 27, 1942 – September 18, 1970) was an American musician and singer-songwriter. He is widely considered to be the greatest electric guitarist in music history, and one of the most influential musicians of his era despite mainstream exposure limited to just three years. After initial success in Europe with his group The Jimi Hendrix Experience, he achieved fame in the United States following his 1967 performance at the Monterey Pop Festival. Later, he headlined the iconic 1969 Woodstock Festival and the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival. He often favored raw overdriven amplifiers with high gain and treble and helped develop the previously undesirable technique of guitar amplifier feedback.
Hendrix helped to popularize use of the wah-wah pedal in mainstream rock, which he often used to deliver tonal exaggerations in his solos, particularly with high bends, complex guitar playing, and use of legato. As a record producer, he also broke new ground in using the recording studio as an extension of his musical ideas. He was one of the first to experiment with stereophonic phasing effects for rock recording.[citation needed] He was influenced by blues artists such as B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Albert King and Elmore James,rhythm and blues and soul guitarists Curtis Mayfield and Steve Cropper, and the jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery. Hendrix began dressing and wearing a moustache like Little Richard when he performed and recorded in his band from March 1, 1964 through to the spring of 1965. In 1966, he stated, "I want to do with my guitar what Little Richard does with his voice".

Celebrando el centenario de su nacimiento, este documental “Octavio Paz, 100 años” abarca los acontecimientos más importantes de su vida pública y privada. Desde su solitaria infancia en la casa de su abuelo, el intelectual Ireneo Paz, hasta su época como embajador de México en la India, incluyendo sus pasos por España durante la Guerra Civil, por Estados Unidos en la creación de las Naciones Unidas, y por París, donde formó parte del movimiento surrealista del escritor André Breton.
Las alegrías y las tragedias, el amor y la muerte, el éxito y el dolor forjaron el carácter y marcaron la obra poética y ensayística de Octavio Paz que hacia el tormentoso verano de 1968 destacaba ya como uno de los más grandes autores de las letras hispanoamericanas.
La masacre de Tlatelolco del 2 de Octubre de 1968 marcó un parteaguas en la historia de México y la vida de Octavio Paz.
Su renuncia a la embajada de México en la India, tras 25 años dentro del servicio diplomático mexicano, da inicio a la segunda parte en la vida del poeta, una época plena de activismo político e intelectual en la que desplegó una vasta obra periodística y ensayística que lo definieron como uno de los grandes líderes de opinión internacional. Armado con el lenguaje y la palabra, Paz lideró una lucha en favor de la democracia que lo volvió centro de admiración y crítica.
A través de las revistas “Plural” y “Vuelta”, dio voz a jóvenes autores y abrió las puertas al diálogo y la libertad de expresión en un país víctima de la censura y el ninguneo. Su prolífica pluma dio lugar a grandes obras que fueron acreedoras de múltiples galardones y reconocimientos internacionales, culminando en 1990 con el prestigioso premio Nobel de Literatura.
A cien años de su nacimiento, la voz de Octavio Paz sigue resonando en el pensamiento de México y del mundo.
A través de sus más de sesenta libros, Octavio Paz desplegó una fascinante obra durante sus ochenta y cuatro años de vida. Nació el 31 de marzo de 1914 en Mixcoac (México) cuando el país se encuentra en plena lucha revolucionaria. Su padre, al igual que su abuelo escribían, además de dedicarse al periodismo y a la política. Estas influencias hicieron que se volcara a la política además de la escritura. Cuando cuenta 17 años funda la revista Barandal. En 1933 apareció su primer libro, que también se llamaba Barandal y fundó Cuadernos del Valle de México. Conoció a los poetas T. S. Eliot y Paul Valéry. En 1937 se trasladó a Yucatán para impartir clases en el campo, y algún tiempo después se casó con Elena Garro, con quien asistió ese mismo año al Congreso de Escritores Antifascistas en Valencia (España). Allí se publicó Bajo tu clara sombra (1937), y conoció a los intelectuales de la República Española y al poeta chileno Pablo Neruda.
Al regresar a su país se acercó a Jorge Cuesta y Xavier Villaurrutia y publicó ¡No pasarán! y Raíz de hombre. Con Efraín Huerta y Rafael Solana, entre otros, fundó, en 1938, la revista Taller, en la que participaron los escritores españoles de su generación exiliados en México. En 1939 apareció A la orilla del mundo y Noche de resurrecciones. En 1942, a instancias de José Bergamín, dio una conferencia, "Poesía de soledad, poesía de comunión", en la que establecía su diferencia con la generación anterior, y trataba de conciliar en una sola voz las poéticas de Xavier Villaurrutia y Pablo Neruda. En 1944 con la beca Guggenheim permaneció durante un año en Estados Unidos. En 1945 entró al Servicio Exterior Mexicano y fue trasladado a París. A través del poeta surrealista Benjamín Péret conoció a André Breton, además se relaciona con Albert Camus y otros intelectuales europeos e hispanoamericanos del París de la posguerra. Esta estancia definirá con precisión sus posiciones culturales y políticas; se alejó del marxismo y se acercó al surrealismo, empezando a interesarse por los temas más diversos.
Durante la década de 1950 publicó cuatro libros fundamentales: El laberinto de la soledad (1950) retrato personal en el espejo de la sociedad mexicana; El arco y la lira (1956), su esfuerzo más riguroso por elaborar una poética; ¿Águila o sol?, libro de prosa de influencia surrealista; y Libertad bajo palabra. En 1951 viajó a la India y en 1952 a Japón, sitios de los que recibió una gran influencia. Regresó a México en 1953 donde hasta 1959 desarrolló una intensa labor literaria. En 1960 volvió a París y en 1962 a la India, como funcionario de la embajada de México. Conoció a Marie José Tramini, con la que contrajo matrimonio en 1964. Publicó los libros de poemas Salamandra (1961), anterior a su viaje a la India, y Ladera este, que recoge su producción en ese país, y que incluye su segundo poema largo, Blanco.
En 1963 le otorgaron el Gran Premio Internacional de Poesía. Publicó los libros de ensayo Cuadrivio en 1965, cuatro ensayos sobre Luis Cernuda, Fernando Pessoa, Ramón López Velarde y Rubén Darío; Puertas al campo en 1966 y Corriente alterna, en 1967. En 1968 dimitió de su puesto de embajador en la India debido a los asesinatos cometidos por el Gobierno de México, el 2 de octubre de ese año, cuando cargó el Ejército contra manifestantes universitarios, y en 1971 fundó en su país la revista Plural, en la que colaboraron algunos de los escritores más importantes de la generación posterior. Ese año publicó El mono gramático, poema en prosa en el que se funden reflexiones filosóficas, poéticas y amorosas, y en 1974 Los hijos del limo, recapitulación de la poesía moderna; en 1975, Pasado en claro, otro de sus grandes poemas largos, recogido al año siguiente en Vuelta, libro con el que obtuvo el Premio de la Crítica en España. En 1977 dejó Plural e inició la revista Vuelta de la que fue director. El ogro filantrópico, continuación de sus reflexiones políticas, se publica en 1979, y en 1981 logró el Premio Cervantes. En 1982 se editó Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz o las trampas de la fe, retrato de la monja mexicana y la sociedad mexicana del siglo XVII; en 1987, Árbol adentro, último volumen de poesía.
En 1990 ganó el Premio Nobel de Literatura, y publicó La otra voz y Poesía de fin de siglo. En 1993, La llama doble y Amor y erotismo, y en 1995 Vislumbres de la India. Octavio Paz falleció el 19 de abril de 1998 víctima de un cáncer, en la misma ciudad que lo vio nacer.

En 1942, a instancias de José Bergamín, dio una conferencia, "Poesía de soledad, poesía de comunión", en la que establecía su diferencia con la generación anterior, y trataba de conciliar en una sola voz las poéticas de Xavier Villaurrutia y Pablo Neruda. En 1944 con la beca Guggenheim permaneció durante un año en Estados Unidos. En 1945 entró al Servicio Exterior Mexicano y fue trasladado a París. A través del poeta surrealista Benjamín Péret conoció a André Breton, además se relaciona con Albert Camus y otros intelectuales europeos e hispanoamericanos del París de la posguerra. Esta estancia definirá con precisión sus posiciones culturales y políticas; se alejó del marxismo y se acercó al surrealismo, empezando a interesarse por los temas más diversos.
Durante la década de 1950 publicó cuatro libros fundamentales: El laberinto de la soledad (1950) retrato personal en el espejo de la sociedad mexicana; El arco y la lira (1956), su esfuerzo más riguroso por elaborar una poética; ¿Águila o sol?, libro de prosa de influencia surrealista; y Libertad bajo palabra. En 1951 viajó a la India y en 1952 a Japón, sitios de los que recibió una gran influencia. Regresó a México en 1953 donde hasta 1959 desarrolló una intensa labor literaria. En 1960 volvió a París y en 1962 a la India, como funcionario de la embajada de México. Conoció a Marie José Tramini, con la que contrajo matrimonio en 1964. Publicó los libros de poemas Salamandra (1961), anterior a su viaje a la India, y Ladera este, que recoge su producción en ese país, y que incluye su segundo poema largo, Blanco.
En 1963 le otorgaron el Gran Premio Internacional de Poesía. Publicó los libros de ensayo Cuadrivio en 1965, cuatro ensayos sobre Luis Cernuda, Fernando Pessoa, Ramón López Velarde y Rubén Darío; Puertas al campo en 1966 y Corriente alterna, en 1967. En 1968 dimitió de su puesto de embajador en la India debido a los asesinatos cometidos por el Gobierno de México, el 2 de octubre de ese año, cuando cargó el Ejército contra manifestantes universitarios, y en 1971 fundó en su país la revista Plural, en la que colaboraron algunos de los escritores más importantes de la generación posterior. Ese año publicó El mono gramático, poema en prosa en el que se funden reflexiones filosóficas, poéticas y amorosas, y en 1974 Los hijos del limo, recapitulación de la poesía moderna; en 1975, Pasado en claro, otro de sus grandes poemas largos, recogido al año siguiente en Vuelta, libro con el que obtuvo el Premio de la Crítica en España. En 1977 dejó Plural e inició la revista Vuelta de la que fue director. El ogro filantrópico, continuación de sus reflexiones políticas, se publica en 1979, y en 1981 logró el Premio Cervantes. En 1982 se editó Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz o las trampas de la fe, retrato de la monja mexicana y la sociedad mexicana del siglo XVII; en 1987, Árbol adentro, último volumen de poesía.
En 1990 ganó el Premio Nobel de Literatura, y publicó La otra voz y Poesía de fin de siglo. En 1993, La llama doble y Amor y erotismo, y en 1995 Vislumbres de la India. Octavio Paz falleció el 19 de abril de 1998 víctima de un cáncer, en la misma ciudad que lo vio nacer.
