Would you like to learn how to cook fresh green beans?
Chef Jason Hill prepares a fresh green bean recipe that's lightly sauteed and seasoned with garlic and shallots. It's a great way to sneak some greens into your daily meals.
To begin cooking fresh green beans, first wash and pat try, then remove the tough stem ends.
Next, in a pot, add 1/4 cup sea salt to 6 cups of rapidly boiling water.
Blanch the green beans for about 5 minutes, covered. Next blanch the green beans in a bowl of ice water. This stops the cooking process and keeps the green beans bright green and really colorful for the plate. Set aside until you are ready to saute.
While the green beans are chilling in the ice bath, get the rest of your ingredients together.
For each small bunch of fresh green beans you'll need
1 teaspoon garlic-shallot puree (or 1 crushed clove of garlic)
1 tablespoon butter
1/8 cup sherry wine
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and fresh cracked pepper
Preheat your pan and add the olive oil, followed by the butter. Melt down. Add strained green beans and the garlic puree. After about 3 minutes, stir in the sherry wine and let that cook down another 2 minutes. Finally, add fresh cracked sea salt and ground pepper to taste.
Transfer the fried green beans to a serving dish.

NOTE: EVERY pot of green beans is not always identical. It depends on your type of bacon, the hotness of your onion and your choice of seasoning. At times you may wish to remove some of your bacon drippings or use 3-4 slices of bacon as opposed to 5-6 pieces. (If you are not used to “Southern” cooking you may wish to remove most of your bacon drippings, to start) It all depends on your taste! Sometimes you need more water, it all just depends. So use this as a guide and adjust to YOUR tastes! Whether it is more garlic, Cajun seasoning, red pepper flakes etc., take this and MAKE IT YOUR OWN!
2-2 ½ lbs fresh green beans, washed, trimmed and snapped into bite sized pieces
1 onion (sized as to your preference and cut anyway you like them cut)
4-6 slices of bacon (you can cook the slices whole and crumble them up or cut them small while uncooked and pan fry them) You could also use a ham hock.

½-1 teaspoon ground pepper (adjust at the end of cooking to your taste)
2-4 cups water or chicken broth
OPTIONAL:
1-2 cloves minced garlic (I used minced garlic from a jar)

¼-1 Cajun seasoning (like Tony’s or try my homemade Cajun seasoning))
Additional Optional Choices:
Red pepper flakes
Apple cider vinegar

This green bean recipe reminds me of the green beans we sometimes get out at Chinese restaurants. This dish is simple to make and semi-healthy; you can forego the butter if you like and just use oil--but you're already eating green beans, so isn't that punishment enough? Green Bean Recipe ('cause sometimes you gotta eat green beans)
ingredients:
1 lb. GREEN BEANS
½ large ONION (sliced)
2 Tbsp GARLIC (finely chopped)
1 Tbsp GINGER (finely chopped)
CHILI PEPPERS to taste (finely chopped)
1 Tbsp BUTTER
1 Tbsp OLIVE OIL
2-3 Tbsp SOY SAUCE
½ tsp SESAME OIL
SALT and PEPPER to taste
garnish w/ toasted SESAME SEEDS
I'm not a fan of green beans, but this recipe is a quick way to make them edible.
First, trim the green beans by "snapping" off the ends--fresh beans will snap easily, and if there is a fiborous, stringy seam along the bean, this can be pulled off as well. Bring a pot of lightly salted water to a boil and add the green beans. Allow to cook 2-3 minutes, the longer the beans are in the water, the softer they will get (duh)...but why overcook them? They're already awful green beans, so you might as well get some nutrition out of them.
Remove the beans from the hot water and place in an ice bath for 1 minute. This is called blanching--it stops the cooking process, keeps the beans crisp and maintains the bright, green color of the beans. After a minute, drain the beans.
While the beans drain, heat olive oil and butter in a skillet. Add sliced onion, garlic, ginger, and chili peppers and saute for 2 minutes. Add drained green beans and continue cooking another 2 minutes. To finish, add soy sauce and sesame oil and mix well, then remove skillet from the heat. That's it, man--serve 'em hot. And garnish the dish with toasted sesame seeds for optimal flavor potential.

Southern style green beans with turkey necks & potatoes recipe
Soul food string beans with turkey necks
Rinse your turkey necks. Boil your turkey necks in a big pot of water over medium heat until tender. Cover with a top.
Meanwhile, chop up 3 red potatoes into small pieces and soak them in a bowl of water
Cut off the ends of your green beans and slice them in half. Then soak them in a big bowl of water
Slice up one big onion into small pieces and slice up 2 strips of bacon into small pieces
Get a frying pan and place it over medium heat. Add 3 tbs of oil to the frying pan. Add your chopped onions and bacon pieces along with 2 big tbs of minced garlic. Allow them to fry for 10 minutes or until veggies become light brown. Turn off the fire once done and sit it aside
Once your turkey necks are done drain most of the juice
Add to the pot your green beans, 1/4 cup of diced tomatoes, your chopped up potatoes, and your fried minced garlic onions and bacon pieces.
Add 2 1/2 - 3 cups of chicken broth
Season: Add to the pot 2 chicken boullion cubes,1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar, 1/4 cup of sugar, 3 tbs of season salt, 1 tbs of onion powder, 2 tbs of garlic powder, 1 tsp of black pepper, and 1 tsp of cayenne pepper
Simmer over medium heat for 1 hour or until your green beans are as tender as you desire

Green beans, also known as French beans (British English), string beans in the northeastern and western United States, snap beans or squeaky beans, are the unripe fruit of specific cultivated varieties of the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris).
Green bean varieties have been bred especially for the fleshiness, flavor, or sweetness of their pods. Haricots verts, French for "green beans", may refer to a longer, thinner type of green bean than the typical American green bean. It is known in some parts of the world as the squeaky bean due to the noise it makes on ones teeth whilst eating.
The first "stringless" bean was bred in 1894 by Calvin Keeney, called the "father of the stringless bean", while working in Le Roy, New York.
Green beans are of nearly universal distribution. They are marketed canned, frozen, and fresh.
Green beans are often steamed, boiled, stir-fried, or baked in casseroles. A dish with green beans popular throughout the United States, particularly at Thanksgiving, is green bean casserole, which consists of green beans, cream of mushroom soup, and French fried onions.

Next, in a pot, add 1/4 cup sea salt to 6 cups of rapidly boiling water. Blanch the green beans for about 5 minutes, covered. Next blanch the green beans in a bowl of ice water. Chef Jason Hill prepares a fresh green bean recipe that's lightly sauteed and seasoned with garlic and shallots. It's a great way to sneak some greens into your daily meals.
To begin cooking fresh green beans, first wash and pat try, then remove the tough stem ends.
Next, in a pot, add 1/4 cup sea salt to 6 cups of rapidly boiling water.
Blanch the green beans for about 5 minutes, covered. Next blanch the green beans in a bowl of ice water. This stops the cooking process and keeps the green beans bright green and really colorful for the plate. Set aside until you are ready to saute.
While the green beans are chilling in the ice bath, get the rest of your ingredients together.
For each small bunch of fresh green beans you'll need
1 teaspoon garlic-shallot puree (or 1 crushed clove of garlic)
1 tablespoon butter
1/8 cup sherry wine
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and fresh cracked pepper
Preheat your pan and add the olive oil, followed by the butter. Melt down. Add strained green beans and the garlic puree. After about 3 minutes, stir in the sherry wine and let that cook down another 2 minutes. Finally, add fresh cracked sea salt and ground pepper to taste.
Transfer the fried green beans to a serving dish.

At times you may wish to remove some of your bacon drippings or use 3-4 slices of bacon as opposed to 5-6 pieces. (If you are not used to “Southern” cooking you may wish to remove most of your bacon drippings, to start) It all depends on your taste! Sometimes you need more water, it all just depends. So use this as a guide and adjust to YOUR tastes! Whether it is more garlic, Cajun seasoning, red pepper flakes etc., take this and MAKE IT YOUR OWN!

Green Bean Recipe ('cause sometimes you gotta eat green beans)
ingredients:
1 lb. GREEN BEANS
½ large ONION (sliced)
2 Tbsp GARLIC (finely chopped)
1 Tbsp GINGER (finely chopped)
CHILI PEPPERS to taste (finely chopped)
1 Tbsp BUTTER
1 Tbsp OLIVE OIL
2-3 Tbsp SOY SAUCE
½ tsp SESAME OIL
SALT and PEPPER to taste
garnish w/ toasted SESAME SEEDS
I'm not a fan of green beans, but this recipe is a quick way to make them edible.
First, trim the green beans by "snapping" off the ends--fresh beans will snap easily, and if there is a fiborous, stringy seam along the bean, this can be pulled off as well. Bring a pot of lightly salted water to a boil and add the green beans. Allow to cook 2-3 minutes, the longer the beans are in the water, the softer they will get (duh)...but why overcook them? They're already awful green beans, so you might as well get some nutrition out of them.
Remove the beans from the hot water and place in an ice bath for 1 minute. This is called blanching--it stops the cooking process, keeps the beans crisp and maintains the bright, green color of the beans. After a minute, drain the beans.
While the beans drain, heat olive oil and butter in a skillet. Add sliced onion, garlic, ginger, and chili peppers and saute for 2 minutes. Add drained green beans and continue cooking another 2 minutes. To finish, add soy sauce and sesame oil and mix well, then remove skillet from the heat. That's it, man--serve 'em hot. And garnish the dish with toasted sesame seeds for optimal flavor potential.

Rinse your turkey necks. Boil your turkey necks in a big pot of water over medium heat until tender. Cover with a top.
Meanwhile, chop up 3 red potatoes into small pieces and soak them in a bowl of water
Cut off the ends of your green beans and slice them in half. Then soak them in a big bowl of water
Slice up one big onion into small pieces and slice up 2 strips of bacon into small pieces
Get a frying pan and place it over medium heat. Add 3 tbs of oil to the frying pan. Add your chopped onions and bacon pieces along with 2 big tbs of minced garlic. Allow them to fry for 10 minutes or until veggies become light brown. Turn off the fire once done and sit it aside
Once your turkey necks are done drain most of the juice
Add to the pot your green beans, 1/4 cup of diced tomatoes, your chopped up potatoes, and your fried minced garlic onions and bacon pieces.
Add 2 1/2 - 3 cups of chicken broth
Season: Add to the pot 2 chicken boullion cubes,1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar, 1/4 cup of sugar, 3 tbs of season salt, 1 tbs of onion powder, 2 tbs of garlic powder, 1 tsp of black pepper, and 1 tsp of cayenne pepper
Simmer over medium heat for 1 hour or until your green beans are as tender as you desire

The perfect green bean every time.
Ingredients:
1 pound green beans, ends popped or chopped off
2 tsp olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
salt & pepper
Directions:
Prepare green beans and bring a pot of water to a boil. Allow green beans to boil for 4-5 minutes, ensuring they don't change color and lose their crispness.
Drain green beans and add to an ice bath. Drain and set aside until ready to sautee.
Heat a sauce pan or skillet on medium heat with olive oil for at least 3 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 60 seconds. Add green beans and cook for 3-5 minutes. Season with salt & pepper.
Serves 3-4 PREP TIME: 5-8 min COOK TIME: 15 min TOTAL TIME: 25 min

Panko bread crumb
Mix 1st 7 ingredients in a baking dish. Sprinkle bread crumbs across the top.
Bake at 350 until golden brown and cheese is melted
*all measurements are approximate

1 lb. cooked prepackaged crawfish including fat
Tony Chachere's Bold Creole Seasoning
1 stick butter
Guidry's Fresh Cuts Creole Chopped Seasoning (Onions, Bell Pepper, Celery, Green Onions, Parsley, Garlic- 1 quart
1 Tablespoon all-purpose flour
Add seasoning mixture to melted butter, add flour, sauté approx. 10 to 15 minutes, until vegetables are translucent.
Stir in Crawfish, add hot water to empty bag to get the remaining fat out of the bag. Add water to crawfish mixture. When mixture starts to boil heat lower to med/low. Cook for approx. 15 minutes & serve on rice.

A great chicken stir fry with crunchy green beans that can be enjoyed with pasta, rice or quinoa! Ing: 2 cups chicken cut in small pieces 1 tbsp cornstarch 1 egg white 1 tsp ginger and garlic pureed 16 oz green beans steamed but still crunchy 1/2 to 1 onion sliced thin 1 tbsp soy sauce 1 tbsp rice vinegar 2 tbsp oil For the sauce 1 cup chicken stock 1 to 2 tbsps balsamic vinaigrette or black vinegar 1 tsp cornstarch 1/2 tsp sesame oil 1 tbsp brown sugar Method: Mix the sauce ing together and keep it aside for later use , next marinate the chicken with soy sauce, ginger and garlic, rice vinegar, and the egg white. •In a large bowl, combine flour, cayenne, pepper, salt and garlic and whisk well.
•Drain chicken livers and season with salt and toss.
•Add chicken livers to the flour mixture then toss to coat well.
•Fry in a skillet with oil over medium heat.
•Serve with green beans and gravy.

Mexican Food - BG Cooking Home School
Skirt Steak
Ingredients:
Skirt Steak
Crushed Garlic
Grated Ginger
Vinegar
Lime
Soy Sauce
Cilantro
Honey
Salt
Pepper
- In a bowl combine skirt steak with crushed garlic, grated ginger, vinegar, lime, soy sauce, cilantro, honey, salt, and pepper. Let it marinate while you make the remaining dishes.
Corn Tortilla
Ingredients:
Masa (Ground Corn)
Salt
Oil
Water
- In a bowl add masa, followed by oil. Add water a mix until the consistency is similar to wet sand. Adjust with more masa if too sticky, add water if it's too dry and cracks. Let it sit for a few minutes. Break off pieces and roll into balls. Place between 2 sheets of saran rap or zip lock bags. Using a heavy pot or pan press until flat. Place in a pan on medium heat, flipping. Remove and stack tortillas to let them steam.

Ingredients:
Ripe Tomatoes
Red Onion
Jalapêno
Cilantro
Lime
Salt
Pepper
- Chop tomato, onion, jalapêno, and cilantro. In a bowl combine, add lime juice, season with salt and pepper. Mix.

- In a blender combine mango, who jalapeno, lime juice, red onion, chile, cayenne pepper powder, and salt. Blend until smooth. Be careful it's spicy!

- If using canned beans drain and rinse. Chop red onion and garlic. In a pot heat oil on medium heat, add onions and garlic and sweat out. Once soft, add beans. Season with salt and cumin. Add water and crush beans. The beans will absorb the water and become thick, almost like a bean paste.
Avocado Cilantro Creamy Sauce
Ingredients:
Avocado
Cilantro
Sour Cream
Water
Salt
Pepper
- In a blender combine avocado, cilantro, sour cream, water and season with salt and pepper. Blend until smooth.
Tortilla Chips
Ingredients:

Ing:
2 cups chicken cut in small pieces
1 tbsp cornstarch

A great chicken stir fry with crunchy green beans that can be enjoyed with pasta, rice or quinoa!
Ing:
2 cups chicken cut in small pieces
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 egg white
1 tsp ginger and garlic pureed
16 oz green beans steamed but still crunchy
1/2 to 1 onion sliced thin
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
2 tbsp oil
For the sauce
1 cup chicken stock
1 to 2 tbsps balsamic vinaigrette or black vinegar
1 tsp cornstarch
1/2 tsp sesame oil
1 tbsp brown sugar
Method:
Mix the sauce ing together and keep it aside for later use , next marinate the chicken with soy sauce, ginger and garlic, rice vinegar, and the egg white. Marinate the chicken mixture for about 20 min if possible. After 20 minutes heat your wok with the oil and slice up your onions. When the wok gets hot add the chicken making sure not to burn it, once the chicken is cooked than remove the chicken in a separate plate. When the oil starts smoking add the onions and than add the green beans and stir fry until the green beans are crunchy but cooked. while the beans are cooking mix the cornstarch in the sauce, once the green beans are cooked through add the chicken and stir really well than slowly start adding the sauce mixture so the temperature of the stir fry does not go completely down. Make sure you stir everything really well, make sure you do a last taste test and adjust the flavors according to your taste, and serve...
