Here is a song I created to help my 6th grade students study. I hope you enjoy.
Skin is more than a typical kind of thing
Protects us against damage and from infection, oh oh
Removes waste, collects info
Two main layers-outer, inner, then subcutaneous
Epidermis is the outer, filled with keratin, oh oh
Dermis has the receptors
Dermis, blood cells, and then the other structures
Touch receptors, Meissner's corpuscles
Sweat glands, hair muscles, hair plexuses
Pacinian corpuscles and pain receptors
Oh oh, brain interprets the impulse
The integumentary
Skin has different layers
Covers body will protect it
Largest organ in your body that's right
Come on, that's right
Nails will grow from a root
Are made of keratin too
Hair grows out of pits, follicles
Melanin colors them darkness to light
Come on, that's right, covers you
Here's the deal, touch and feel
Nails forming firm pads
To support fingertips, made of keratin, oh oh
Cuticle is the thick skin
Oh yeah
Hair grows out, of deep pits they're called follicles
At the base of each hair divide push hair up, oh oh
Cutting hair it will not hurt, no no
The integumentary
Skin has different layers
Covers body will protect it
Largest organ in your body that's right
Come on, that's right
Nails will grow from a root
Are made of keratin too
Hair grows out of pits, follicles
Melanin colors them darkness to light
Come on, that's right, covers you
Skin producing melanin, brown substance in you
Absorbing UV rays, Sun blocking hue
Epidermis holds the key color on the base
Fair skinned it is then, melanin colors skin
Dark kinda skin large amounts usually
Melanin goin' all through it, truthfully
Dark hair will have it, fair mixed with sulfur, melanin
The integumentary
Skin has different layers
Covers body will protect it
Largest organ in your body that's right
Come on, that's right
Nails will grow from a root
Are made of keratin too
Hair grows out of pits, follicles
Melanin colors them darkness to light
Come on, that's right, covers, covers, covers you
We're talkin' 'bout the skin
Largest organ in the body
Skin, hair and the nails
Integumentary system, oh oh
Helps you learn about this so
Come on, that's right, covers you, uh!

This is my song for the Integumentary System project in FAA Anatomy
Lyrics:
You ever think about what you’re really made of?
You ever wonder where your hair really grows from?
And what about all the nails on your toes?
Underneath the cuticles where do they go?
You ever wonder why you can feel a cold breeze?
Or start sweating when it gets to the high degrees?
It has to do with your skin and your layers
They’re a team, and here are the players
Integumentary System
Without it you’d never be someone
It covers your organs and muscles
Just everywhere
The biggest organ of them all
Integumentary system
It might seem small
But it’s got a lot of wisdom
The epidermis on surface
Then below, is the dermis
They work together everyday
And they protect you
Yeah, nothing gets through
They protect you
From germs and sun and goo
Yeah, they protect you
The epidermis is the very first layer
It’s not thick, but it’s purpose is major
It’s made of lots of keratinocytes
They’re always dying and always falling off at night
This layer also has Melanocytes
They protect you from the sun shining so bright
Merkel cells are sensors that you have
They let you feel that scrape on your calf
Integumentary System
Without it you’d never be someone
It covers your organs and muscles
Just everywhere
The second and final layer is the dermis
It’s thicker, denser, and deeper than the surface
It has pressure and touch receptors
Technically they’re called meissner's and pacinian’s
The dermis also grows your hair
From the bulb, to the follicle, to the shaft
There are even little pili and glands
So can feel each tiny strand
Underneath there of course, is a flow chart
Blood flowing back and forth from your heart
Arteries, veins, and lymphatic vessels
Wound together in a perfect little pretzel
Integumentary System
Without it you’d never be someone
It covers your organs and muscles
Just everywhere
Last but not least, we need to address this
It’s kinda gross, but everybody does it
Sometimes you just hot or anxious
And you really can’t seem to control it
There are two types of glands in the dermis
The apocrine’s sweat when you get nervous
And when you stay out in the hot sun
Your eccrine glands start having some fun
Integumentary System
Without it you’d never be someone
It covers your organs and muscles
Just everywhere
The biggest organ of them all
Integumentary system
It might seem small
But it’s got a lot of wisdom
The epidermis on surface
Then below, is the dermis
They work together everyday
