Paray le Monial is a beautiful, quiet town nestled in the center of France. But the power that emanates from this town is pure Holy Spirit. You can still feel the presence of our Lord Jesus. For it is here that our Lord appeared to a nun over a period of seventeen years. He brought His faithful message of Love to an unfaithful people who had grown cold. Here, He once again spoke of that tremendous Love of His to become man and suffer death, even death on the cross.
Margaret Mary was a Visitation nun from 1671 to 1690. Our Lord appeared to her many times, in the Chapel of the Visitation in Paray le Monial. Not only have these revelations from our Lord Jesus been accepted by the Church, but because of the virtuous, selfless life of this nun, she was raised to the Communion of Saints in 1920.
Over a period of seventeen years, our Lord Jesus shared this mandate with her: He desired the faithful to come to the foot of the altar. He promised that great graces would be poured out from His Sacred Heart. He told her that from the moment the Angels proclaimed His incarnation to His triumph of the Cross, His heart suffered constantly because of the sins of men, those that had been committed from the beginning of time and would be until the end of time.
His greatest wound He said, was apathy, the lack of respect for the Blessed Sacrament, His Body and Blood. For that reason, He wanted a devotion to His Sacred Heart which He directed Saint Margaret Mary to have instituted.
Margaret Mary Alacoque was born in Charolles, twenty miles outside of Paray le Monial on July 25, 1647. Little did her family know when she was born how powerfully the Lord would use her, one day, nor did they have any idea that she would be the instrument He would use to bring about devotion to His Sacred Heart and the nine first Fridays.

The devotion to the Sacred Heart (also known as the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Sacratissimi Cordis Iesu in Latin) is one of the most widely practiced and well-known Roman Catholic devotions, taking Jesus Christ's physical heart as the representation of His divine love for humanity.
This devotion is predominantly used in the Roman Catholic Church and among some high-church Anglicans and Lutherans. The devotion is especially concerned with what the Church deems to be the love and compassion of the heart of Christ towards humanity, and its long suffering. The origin of this devotion in its modern form is derived from a Roman Catholic nun from France, Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, who said she learned the devotion from Jesus during a series of apparitions to her between 1673 and 1675, and later, in the 19th century, from the mystical revelations of another Roman Catholic nun in Portugal, Blessed Mary of the Divine Heart Droste zu Vischering, a religious of the Good Shepherd, who requested, in the name of Christ that Pope Leo XIII consecrate the entire world to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Predecessors to the modern devotion arose unmistakably in the Middle Ages in various facets of Catholic mysticism.

Jesus
Jesus (/ˈdʒiːzəs/; Greek: Ἰησοῦς Iesous; 7–2 BC to AD 30–33), also referred to as Jesus of Nazareth or Jesus Christ, is the central figure of Christianity, whom the teachings of most Christian denominations hold to be the Son of God. Christians believe Jesus is the awaited Messiah (or Christ, the Anointed One) of the Old Testament.
Virtually all modern scholars of antiquity agree that Jesus existed historically, and historians consider the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) to be the best sources for investigating the historical Jesus. Paray le Monial is a beautiful, quiet town nestled in the center of France. But the power that emanates from this town is pure Holy Spirit. You can still feel the presence of our Lord Jesus. For it is here that our Lord appeared to a nun over a period of seventeen years. He brought His faithful message of Love to an unfaithful people who had grown cold. Here, He once again spoke of that tremendous Love of His to become man and suffer death, even death on the cross.
Margaret Mary was a Visitation nun from 1671 to 1690. Our Lord appeared to her many times, in the Chapel of the Visitation in Paray le Monial. Not only have these revelations from our Lord Jesus been accepted by the Church, but because of the virtuous, selfless life of this nun, she was raised to the Communion of Saints in 1920.
Over a period of seventeen years, our Lord Jesus shared this mandate with her: He desired the faithful to come to the foot of the altar. He promised that great graces would be poured out from His Sacred Heart. He told her that from the moment the Angels proclaimed His incarnation to His triumph of the Cross, His heart suffered constantly because of the sins of men, those that had been committed from the beginning of time and would be until the end of time.
His greatest wound He said, was apathy, the lack of respect for the Blessed Sacrament, His Body and Blood. For that reason, He wanted a devotion to His Sacred Heart which He directed Saint Margaret Mary to have instituted.
Margaret Mary Alacoque was born in Charolles, twenty miles outside of Paray le Monial on July 25, 1647. Little did her family know when she was born how powerfully the Lord would use her, one day, nor did they have any idea that she would be the instrument He would use to bring about devotion to His Sacred Heart and the nine first Fridays.

O Jesus, what can I do but have faith in you and return your love by at least bearing my trials in patience and humility. And this, particularly, my God, because I have so often experienced the great power that my passions have over me, and how seldom I can withstand the temptations of the world. Most sweet Jesus, redeemer of the human race look down upon us humbly prostrate before your altar. We are yours and yours we wish to be but to be more surely united with you behold each one of us freely consecrates himself today to your most Sacred Heart. Many indeed have never known you, many too, despising your precepts have rejected you. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw them to your Sacred Heart.
Be you king, O Lord, not only of the faithful who have never forsaken you but also of the prodigal children who have abandoned you. Grant that they may quickly return to their Father’s house lest they die of wretchedness and hunger.
Be you King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions or whom discord keeps aloof and call them back to the harbor of truth and the unity of faith so that soon there may be but one flock and one shepherd.
Grant O Lord, to your Church assurance of freedom and immunity from harm. Give peace and order to all nations and make the earth resound from pole to pole with one cry: Praise to the Divine Heart that wrought our salvation; to it be glory and honor forever. Amen.

He always hears you as you have testified at the grave of Lazarus. Filled with this faith and with confidence in your compassionate Heart I come to you to plead my cause. I have offended your Father and have called the anger of his Majesty upon myself. I am heavily indebted to his strict justice. I have nothing with which to pay the debt and therefore must fear the punishment. Besides all this, I am in the present need of (mention your request) where only the power of the Father can help me. For the salvation of my soul I sorely need this grace.
O may it come to me from the riches of your Father. O my beloved advocate, from your throne in heaven to your Father and to my Father, to your God and to my God, reconcile me with him. O my Divine Savior, according to the words of the Holy Scriptures, you are in truth our advocate before your Father. You have freely taken this office upon yourself and unceasingly exercise it with faithful and loving zeal for all who trust in you. Your influence with the Father is so great he will not refuse you. He always hears you as you have testified at the grave of Lazarus. Filled with this faith and with confidence in your compassionate Heart I come to you to plead my cause. I have offended your Father and have called the anger of his Majesty upon myself. I am heavily indebted to his strict justice. I have nothing with which to pay the debt and therefore must fear the punishment. Besides all this, I am in the present need of (mention your request) where only the power of the Father can help me. For the salvation of my soul I sorely need this grace.

But alas, I was untrue to you so often that in consequence I fell into the abyss of sin and was mortally wounded. Now, however, your straying lamb calls to you from the depths of its misery.
O my good Shepherd, have mercy on me; give me proof again of your compassionate Heart. After all that you have thus far done for me I cannot believe that your Heart will reject me. I believe that you offer the most sublime, holy and pure sacrifice most pleasing to God in the fire of your love, your Heart, your infinite merits, even your entire self. I believe that the most profound compassion of your priestly Heart impels you to carry on the function of your priesthood forever and ever in order to reconcile your Father with us and to offer him adoration, praise and thanksgiving for us as well to entreat him and grant us every needed grace.
Inspired by this faith I come to you, O loving Jesus. I place all my needs with great confidence in your priestly Heart and upon the altar of your Heart. The eternal Father cannot refuse anything to such a priest and his sacrifice. Remember me then in all the Masses in which you offer yourself today throughout the world. Let your petition ascend from your Sacred Heart that the eternal Father may decide, through your merits, to forgive me all my sins which I detest from the bottom of my heart and in his fatherly love to grant me the grace for which I have so ardently pleaded during this novena (mention your request). O Sacred Heart, if the heavenly Father grants this request for your sake it will redound to your own glory because it will be a testimony to your Father’s love for you. 3 We came in sight of Cyprus; and leaving it on our left, we sailed to Syria and landed at Tyre, because the ship was to unload its cargo there. 4 We looked up the disciples and stayed there for seven days. Through the Spirit they told Paul not to go on to Jerusalem. 5 When our days there were ended, we left and proceeded on our journey; and all of them, with wives and children, escorted us outside the city. There we knelt down on the beach and prayed 6 and said farewell to one another. Then we went on board the ship, and they returned home. 7 When we had finished the voyage from Tyre, we arrived at Ptolemais; and we greeted the believers and stayed with them for one day. 8 The next day we left and came to Caesarea; and we went into the house of Philip the evangelist, one of the seven, and stayed with him. 9 He had four unmarried daughters who had the gift of prophecy. 10 While we were staying there for several days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. 11 He came to us and took Paul's belt, bound his own feet and hands with it, and said, "Thus says the Holy Spirit, 'This is the way the Jews in Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.' " 12 When we heard this, we and the people there urged him not to go up to Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul answered, "What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus." 14 Since he would not be persuaded, we remained silent except to say, "The Lord's will be done." 15 After these days we got ready and started to go up to Jerusalem. 16 Some of the disciples from Caesarea also came along and brought us to the house of Mnason of Cyprus, an early disciple, with whom we were to stay.

The Holy Spirit will help us speak the proper words as we spread the truth of God’s Word (Luke 12:12), but we must focus on prayerfully relying on the Spirit rather than ourselves. God has given us the Spirit “of power and of love and of a sound mind,” and as a result, we should boldly proclaim the message of Jesus Christ (2 Timothy 1:7–8). We do not necessarily need to travel a thousand miles to spread the gospel; we can start right where we are with our family and friends.
What to pray: ask God to help you be a good witness in everything you do.

The 12 promises He gave St Margaret Mary to tell us on what will He do for us who love His Sacred Heart. Listed below are the "12 Promises" of the
Sacred Heart of Jesus to St. Margaret Mary to encourage all Catholics
to know and understand the benefit of practicing the Devotion
and to encourage all to take up its immediate practice.
1) I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life.
2) I will give peace in their families and will unite families that are divided.
3) I will console them in all their troubles.
4) I will be their refuge during life and above all in death.
5) I will bestow the blessings of Heaven on all their enterprises.
6) Sinners shall find in my Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy.
7) Tepid souls shall become fervent.
8) Fervent souls shall rise quickly to great perfection.
9) I will bless those places wherein the image of My Heart shall be exposed and honored and will imprint My love on the hearts of those who would wear this image on their person. I will also destroy in them all disordered movements.
10) I will give to priests who are animated by a tender devotion to my Divine Heart the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.
11) Those who promote this devotion shall have their names written in my Heart, never to be effaced.
12) I promise you in the excessive mercy of my Heart that my all-powerful love will grant to all those who communicate on the First Friday in nine consecutive months, the grace of final penitence: they will not die in my disgrace, nor without receiving their Sacraments. My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.
(The Nine Fridays must be made in honor of His Sacred Heart, meaning, practicing the devotion and having a great love of His Sacred Heart. They must be on the first Friday of the month for nine consecutive months, and Communion must be received.)
