With the re-boot / re-make Robocop soon to come out; here is a clip from the original. If you haven't watched it already or if you was just a little kid when you watched it the first time... It isn't just about the action. There is some depth in the story too. I would even suggest that as a far as storytelling... this RoboCop would be difficult to "improve".
There is also some nice artistic set pieces... like this one....Enjoy.
The SFX / CGI in the (soon to come out) Hollywood remake are expected to have people satisfied...
I just hope the new film will be bringing good storytelling (like the original) too. The 1987 original may have had some cheese sprinkled here and there but as a concept, story and movie (as a whole package) is solid with artistic integrity and an engaging story with layers.

Der Vorstandsvorsitzende von OCP (Dan O'Herlihy) plant den Bau eines neuen Detroits, Delta City genannt, aber vorher müsste die Kriminalitätsrate in der Stadt massiv gesenkt werden. Die ist mittlerweile so hoch, dass Polizisten nur noch in schwerer Panzerung ihren Streifendienst versehen und trotzdem jede Woche Kollegen beerdigen müssen. Der OCP-Vizepräsident, Dick Jones (Ronny Cox), präsentiert die Lösung: Ein Polizeiroboter soll Abhilfe schaffen...

FILM DESCRIPTION:
Paul Verhoeven's American breakthrough film, Robocop, is an exceedingly violent blend of black comedy, science fiction, and crime thriller. Set in Detroit sometime in the near future, the film is about a policeman (Peter Weller) killed in the line of duty whom the department decides to resurrect as a half-human, half-robot supercop. The RoboCop is indestructible, and within a matter of weeks he has removed crime from the streets of Detroit. However, his human side is tortured by his past, and he wants revenge on the thugs who killed him. The film was later followed by two feature-length sequels and a live-action television series, neither of which were as successful as the original film.

RoboCop is a 1987 American science fiction action film directed by Paul Verhoeven and written by Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner. The film stars Peter Weller, Dan O'Herlihy, Kurtwood Smith, Nancy Allen, Miguel Ferrer, and Ronny Cox. Set in a crime-ridden Detroit, Michigan in the near future, RoboCop centers on police officer Alex Murphy (Weller) who is brutally murdered and subsequently revived by the malevolent mega-corporation OCP as a super-human cyborg law enforcer known as "RoboCop".
RoboCop includes themes regarding the media, resurrection, gentrification, corruption, privatization, capitalism, masculinity, and human nature. It received positive reviews and was cited as one of the best films of 1987, spawning a large franchise, including merchandise, two sequels, a television series, two animated TV series, and a television mini-series, video games and a number of comic book adaptations/crossovers. The film was produced for a relatively modest $13 million.
In the near future, Detroit, Michigan is on the verge of collapse due to financial ruin and unchecked crime. The mega-corporation Omni Consumer Products enters into a contract with the city to run the police force. OCP plans to destroy "Old Detroit" to replace it with the utopia of "Delta City". Recognizing that human law enforcers are insufficient to stop the crime spree, OCP runs several programs to find robotic replacements. One program, the ED-209 enforcement droid, headed by senior president Dick Jones (Ronny Cox), malfunctions and kills a junior executive during its demonstration. As a result, the OCP Chairman (Dan O'Herlihy) opts for a cyborg program helmed by middle-ranking executive Bob Morton (Miguel Ferrer), named "RoboCop".

Die nähere Zukunft in den USA: Detroit ist so gut wie pleite, der Privatisierungswahn hat selbst vor der Polizei nicht Halt gemacht. Sie wurde vom Großkonzern OCP übernommen, der das eigentliche Sagen in der heruntergekommenen Stadt hat. Der Vorstandsvorsitzende von OCP (Dan O'Herlihy) plant den Bau eines neuen Detroits, Delta City genannt, aber vorher müsste die Kriminalitätsrate in der Stadt massiv gesenkt werden.
