Nainital Lake, a natural freshwater body, situated amidst the township of Nainital in Uttarakhand State of India, tectonic in origin, is kidney shaped or crescent shaped and has an outfall at the southeastern end.

An air and road trip from Chennai to Delhi then a hire car and driver to Kathgodam to visit our Aunty Nancy. We toured the Nainital Region and Haldwani market.
We had a great time and for Nigel from Pondicherry it was his first meeting with Aunty Nancy and her son Michael.
It is a fascinating part of India and very beautiful, the region is famous with Trekkers, Honeymooners and the Lakes - Tal. Thanks for watching, Nigel Foote from Melbourne.

Nainital: After a bear — which reportedly came from a nearby jungle — was found swimming in the Naini lake earlier this month, a leopard created a furore in the hill town early on Sunday as it walked into a hotel after breaking a glass window. The animal reportedly entered a room occupied by a couple in the hotel in the Tallital area at around 4.30am.
When an alarm was raised, the big cat rushed into the bathroom attached to the room from where it escaped through the ventilation window after a couple of hours. Sumit Rathore, 31, the guest into whose room the animal had crept in, told TOI that he was awakened by the sound of shattering glass.

pronunciation is a popular hill station in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and headquarters of Nainital district in the Kumaon foothills of the outer Himalayas. Situated at an altitude of 2,084 metres (6,837 ft) above sea level, Nainital is set in a valley containing a pear-shaped lake, approximately two miles in circumference, and surrounded by mountains, of which the highest are Naina (2,615 m (8,579 ft)) on the north, Deopatha (2,438 m (7,999 ft)) on the west, and Ayarpatha (2,278 m (7,474 ft)) on the south. From the tops of the higher peaks, "magnificent views can be obtained of the vast plain to the south, or of the mass of tangled ridges lying north, bounded by the great snowy range which forms the central axis of the Himalayas."
Geography and climate
Nainital is Located at 29°23′N 79°27′E / 29.38°N 79.45°E / 29.38; 79.45. The slopes of the nearby mountains are most populated, with an elevation ranging from 1,940–2,100 m (6,360–6,890 ft). The highest point nearby is Naina Peak or China Peak, with an elevation of 2,619 m (8,593 ft).

Nainital: After a bear — which reportedly came from a nearby jungle — was found swimming in the Naini lake earlier this month, a leopard created a furore in the hill town early on Sunday as it walked into a hotel after breaking a glass window. The animal reportedly entered a room occupied by a couple in the hotel in the Tallital area at around 4.30am.
When an alarm was raised, the big cat rushed into the bathroom attached to the room from where it escaped through the ventilation window after a couple of hours. Sumit Rathore, 31, the guest into whose room the animal had crept in, told TOI that he was awakened by the sound of shattering glass.
