There is a stunning resemblance between Bangalore in India and London in England, as many structures in Bangalore city have been modeled upon the structures in London. The foremost of these structures is “The Glass House of Lalbagh” constructed in the year 1890 on the model of Crystal Palace of London. In year 1936 Crystal Palace accidentally caught fire and was burnt down. Thus, the glory of the great structure ‘CRYSTAL PALACE’ ended. Only its model remained with ‘The Glass House’ in Lalbagh, Bangalore. Hence, it may not be wrong to call the Glass House of Lalbagh as the Crystal Palace of India. Timings: 9 am to 6 pm Of the many artistic structures in Lalbagh, the Glass House is the most famous. In the necklace of Bangalore's gardens, Lalbagh is a pendant and in the centre of this penda...

WHAT HAPPENED TO DUKE GARDENS? While employed at Doris Dukes Estate from 1981-1986 I routinely visited the Duke Greenhouse Garden where all were like family and were specialists in their field at the time. In 2006 I was able to tour the estate with my children and the Duke Gardens. This musical slide presentation begins with photos taken mostly that autumn day and ending with a VIDEO OF WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DUKE GARDENS! THEIR FINAL END.Doris Duke spent 50 years making the gardens. There were 11 garden rooms, each devoted to a different style, including a Chinese Garden, a Mughal Garden, an Italian Garden, an English Garden and a Japanese Garden. Clearly it was a prime example of the Mixed Style advanced by Humprhry Repton and inadvertently promoted by JC Loudon's Encyclopedia of Gardenin...

Humayun's tomb is the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun in Delhi, India. The tomb was commissioned by Humayun's first wife Bega Begum in 1569-70, and designed by Mirak Mirza Ghiyas, a Persian architect. While the main tomb took over eight years to build, it was also placed in centre of a 30-acre (120,000 m2) Char Bagh Garden (Four Gardens), a Persian-style garden with quadrilateral layout and was the first of its kind in the South Asia region.Towards the south-east corner, within the 'char bagh' garden, lies a tomb known as Nai-ka-Gumbad, or Barber's Tomb, belonging to royal barber. Nila Gumbad: Standing outside the boundary of the complex is the tomb known as Nila Burj (now known as Nila Gumbad) or 'Blue Dome', so called because it carries striking blue glazed tiles. It was built by Abdul...
