LOCATIONS: STRETCHES OF RURAL DUMKA, JHARKHAND

Presenting to all, the first ever compilation of DUMK-RPH stretch of Eastern Railway. This route has been recently commissioned and only one pair of passenger train ply this route. Initially, I took a passenger from Jasidih to Dumka (DEMU) and from Dumka, I took this passenger up till Rampurhat.
Although many told me about the rural beauty between Jasidih and Dumka, but I had as little information about this route. To my surprise, when the passenger chugged its journey and left Shikaripara, a beautiful hill tract valley and a forest with Elephant corridor appeared....
Click on 7:04 to reach the point where the ghat section coverage begins :)
This was the highlight of the journey and I would recommend all the railfans to take this journey atleast once. Although no such important traffic or high speed action or crossings can be seen, but rest assured, a good memorable journey can be experienced :)

Dumka
Dumka, headquarters of the Dumka district, is a city and municipality in the state of Jharkhand, India. It was made the headquarters of the Santhal Pargana region, which was carved out of the Bhagalpur and Suri districts after the Santal Hool of 1855. Dumka is the sub-capital of the state of Jharkhand, which was carved out of the southern part of Bihar on 15 November 2000.
Etymology
There are two theories on how Dumka got its name. The first one suggests that Dumka's name derives from the Santali word sumk for "shunted" or "small," because during the British Raj, it was a small town compared to Suri and Bhagalpur.
The other is that Dumka derives its name from the Persian word damin-i-koh, which means 'skirts (an edge, border or extreme part) of the hills'. The Mughals assigned this name to the town and its vicinity on account of the presence of hillocks and undulating terrain.
