Adana (pronounced [aˈda.na]) is a city in southern Turkey and a major agricultural and commercial center. The city is situated on the Seyhan River, 30 km inland from the Mediterranean Sea, in south-central Anatolia. It is the administrative seat of the Adana Province and has a population of 1.6 million, making it the fifth most populous city in Turkey. Adana-Mersin metropolitan area, with a population of 3 million, stretches over 100 km from east to west and 25 km from north to south; encompassing the cities of Mersin, Tarsus, Adana, and Ceyhan.
Adana lies in the heart of Çukurova, a geographical, economical and cultural region that covers the provinces of Mersin, Adana, Osmaniye, and Hatay. Home to approximately six million people, the region is mostly a large stretch of flat, fertile land regarded as one of the most agriculturally productive areas of the world.
According to numerous sources, the name Adana is derived from the Hittite URUAdaniya of Kizzuwatna, while others assert that it is related to the legendary character Danaus, or to the Danaoi, a mythological Greek tribe who came from Egypt[citation needed] and established themselves in the Greek city Argos.The earlier Egyptian texts for a country Danaja are inscriptions from Thutmosis II (1437 BC) and Amenophis III (1390-1352 BC). After the collapse of the Mycenean civilization (1200 BC) some refugeees from the Aegean area went to the coast of Cilicia. The inhabitants Dananayim or Danuna are identified as one group of the sea-peoples who attacked Egypt on 1191 BC during the reign of Ramesses III. Denyen are identified as inhabitants of the city Adana. It is also possible that the name is connected with the PIE da-nu (river) Da-na-vo (people living by the river), Scythian nomad people, water demons in Rigveda (Danavas).

The people of Armenia were forced into starvation, torture and extermination, Armenian homes were burnt to the ground, Men, Women and Children were killed. Sometimes entire families were wiped out. They were accused, convicted and sentenced to die, Because they dared to call themselves "Christians", Their crime was in believing in a God who sent his son Jesus Christ, to die for their sins, By 1915 One-and-a-half-million Armenians were ruthlessly slaughtered, Because they would not renounce their faith in Christ. Unpunished and undeterred those responsible for the massacre in Adana, Set the stage for the terrible Genocide of the Armenian people, This is their story... From the morning sun, Till the day was done, Fathers worked until their strength was gone. In the summer air, Under mothers care, Children played within the village square. Through the soil and sand, Farmers worked the land, Gathering what they grew by their own hand. Living day by day, Trying to make their way, Unaware the price they would soon pay. Keepers of the ???? Marching on the ????? Striking down the weak without a single word. Ruthlessly they came, With one deadly aim -- Kill all who believe in Jesus' name. In the shroud of night, Families took their plight???? Unprotected by ??? Hungry and alone, Starved to skin and bone, Forced to sleep on pillows made of stone. of what was to become known as the Armenian Genocide.
The people of Armenia were forced into starvation, torture and extermination,
Armenian homes were burnt to the ground,
Men, Women and Children were killed.
Sometimes entire families were wiped out.
They were accused, convicted and sentenced to die,
Because they dared to call themselves "Christians",
Their crime was in believing in a God who sent his son Jesus Christ, to die for their sins,
By 1915 One-and-a-half-million Armenians were ruthlessly slaughtered,
Because they would not renounce their faith in Christ.
Unpunished and undeterred those responsible for the massacre in Adana,
Set the stage for the terrible Genocide of the Armenian people,
This is their story...
From the morning sun,
Till the day was done,
Fathers worked until their strength was gone.
In the summer air,
Under mothers care,
Children played within the village square.
Through the soil and sand,
Farmers worked the land,
Gathering what they grew by their own hand.
Living day by day,
Trying to make their way,
Unaware the price they would soon pay.
Keepers of the ????
Marching on the ?????
Striking down the weak without a single word.
Ruthlessly they came,
With one deadly aim --
Kill all who believe in Jesus' name.
In the shroud of night,
Families took their plight????

Trembling on the plain,

The Ottomans fused various culinary traditions of their realm with influences from Middle Eastern cuisines, along with traditional Turkic elements from Central Asia (such as yogurt and (Manti (dumpling)), creating a vast array of specialities—many with strong regional associations. Turkish cuisine varies across the country. The cooking of Istanbul, Bursa, Izmir, and rest of the Aegean region inherits many elements of Ottoman court cuisine, with a lighter use of spices, a preference for rice over bulgur, koftes and a wider availability of vegetables stew (türlü), eggplant, stuffed dolmas and fish. The cuisine of the Black Sea Region uses fish extensively, especially the Black Sea anchovy (hamsi), has been influenced by Balkan and Slavic cuisine, and includes maize dishes. The cuisine of the southeast -Urfa, Gaziantep and Adana- is famous for its variety of kebabs, mezes and dough-based desserts such as baklava, kadayıf and künefe. Especially in the western parts of Turkey, where olive trees grow abundantly, olive oil is the major type of oil used for cooking.[3] The cuisines of the Aegean, Marmara and Mediterranean regions are rich in vegetables, herbs, and fish. Central Anatolia has many famous specialties, such as keşkek (kashkak), mantı (especially from Kayseri) and gözleme. A specialty's name sometimes includes that of a city or region, either in or outside of Turkey, and may refer to the specific technique or ingredients used in that area. For example, the difference between urfa kebab and adana kebab is the thickness of the skewer and the amount of hot pepper that kebab contains. Urfa kebab is less spicy and thicker than adana kebab. -

It was opened in January 2014 and it is considered to be one of the most authentic Turkish restaurants in town which boasts a wood fired brick oven. Turkish cuisine (Turkish: Türk mutfağı) is largely the heritage of Ottoman cuisine, which can be described as a fusion and refinement of Central Asian, Caucasian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and Balkan cuisines.[1][2] Turkish cuisine has in turn influenced those and other neighbouring cuisines, including those of Western Europe. The Ottomans fused various culinary traditions of their realm with influences from Middle Eastern cuisines, along with traditional Turkic elements from Central Asia (such as yogurt and (Manti (dumpling)), creating a vast array of specialities—many with strong regional associations.
Turkish cuisine varies across the country. The cooking of Istanbul, Bursa, Izmir, and rest of the Aegean region inherits many elements of Ottoman court cuisine, with a lighter use of spices, a preference for rice over bulgur, koftes and a wider availability of vegetables stew (türlü), eggplant, stuffed dolmas and fish. The cuisine of the Black Sea Region uses fish extensively, especially the Black Sea anchovy (hamsi), has been influenced by Balkan and Slavic cuisine, and includes maize dishes. The cuisine of the southeast -Urfa, Gaziantep and Adana- is famous for its variety of kebabs, mezes and dough-based desserts such as baklava, kadayıf and künefe.
Especially in the western parts of Turkey, where olive trees grow abundantly, olive oil is the major type of oil used for cooking.[3] The cuisines of the Aegean, Marmara and Mediterranean regions are rich in vegetables, herbs, and fish. Central Anatolia has many famous specialties, such as keşkek (kashkak), mantı (especially from Kayseri) and gözleme.
A specialty's name sometimes includes that of a city or region, either in or outside of Turkey, and may refer to the specific technique or ingredients used in that area. For example, the difference between urfa kebab and adana kebab is the thickness of the skewer and the amount of hot pepper that kebab contains. Urfa kebab is less spicy and thicker than adana kebab.

It was opened in January 2014 and it is considered to be one of the most authentic Turkish restaurants in town which boasts a wood fired brick oven. Our favorites from their colorful menu include classic starters like their Hummus and Red Lentil Soup. Other must try dishes are the Keftedes with Cheese, Beef Moussaka, Lamb Souvlaki, Adana Beef Kebab, Iskender Beef, Slow Cooked Lamb Shanks, Mediterranean Pizza.
Their signature dish which we find ourselves craving for is the Iskender Beef which are thinly cut shawarma beef which has been basted in a hot tomato sauce over pieces of pita bread and generously smothered with butter and yogurt as well as the Mediterraneand Pizza has a crisp thin crust with minced shawarma beef and mixed vegetable baked in the wood oven and served with salad and a slice of lemon
For dessert order Turkish Coffee or Tea with their Kanafeh. The Kanafeh is a Levantine Cheese Pastry soaked in sweet sugar based syrup with semi-soft cheese filling sandwiched between two layers of wiry tel kadayif and topped of with ice cream.
