Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn had fiery comments for reporters after a commission meeting Thursday night concerning the shooting of a black man by a white police officer.
The crowd lashed out because Flynn was seen checking his cell phone during the meeting, but his impassioned response put critics in their place, and the video has gone viral (watch below).

Flynn spoke to Brian Kilmeade on "Fox and Friends" this morning and described what occurred at the Fire and Police Commission meeting and how tempers run high when it comes to policing disadvantaged neighborhoods that are plagued by crime.
Kilmeade shared some sobering crime statistics, which Flynn called "an incredible disparity in who's victimized by violent crime."

Dec. 9, 2015 - Texas police chief, others urge citizens to arm themselves. DALLAS (AP) -- A Texas police chief who warns President Barack Obama in a social media video that trying to disarm Americans would "cause a revolution in this country" is the latest law enforcement official to urge citizens to arm themselves in the wake of mass shootings.
Randy Kennedy, longtime chief in the small East Texas town of Hughes Springs, about 120 miles east of Dallas, says in the video posted this week on his personal Facebook page that the Second Amendment was established to protect people from criminals and "terrorists and radical ideology."
"It's also there to protect us against a government that has overreached its power," Kennedy says in the video. "You are not our potentate, sir. You are our servant."
He warned people in his town to prepare themselves: "Be ready when the wolf comes to the door, because it's on its way."
Law enforcement officials in Arizona, Florida and New York also have recently prompted citizens to arm themselves - some using similar comments aimed at terrorism.
Kennedy said his call to arms was the result of his disappointment with Obama's Oval Office speech Sunday in which the president vowed the U.S. will overcome a new phase of the terror threat that seeks to "poison the minds" of people here and around the world. The police chief told The Associated Press on Wednesday that he's not asking residents to turn into vigilantes or "become super action heroes."
He said feedback on his video has been supportive for the most part.
"There have been a few extremely nasty comments, calling me basically a backwoods redneck hick creating monsters that don't exist," he said.
Wayne Ivey, the sheriff in Brevard County, Florida, said in a video post on the department's Facebook page over the weekend that political leaders appear more interested in being politically correct than protecting people. He urged residents to arm themselves as a first line of defense against an active shooter.
"The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun," Ivey said.
Another Florida sheriff, Steve Whidden in Hendry County, this week encouraged more people to carry weapons because "we as a nation are under attack by radical Islamic terrorists."
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Arizona issued a statement Tuesday asking "legally armed citizens to take a stand, and take action during a mass shooting/terrorist event until law enforcement arrives."
And last week, Ulster County Sheriff Paul Van Blarcum in upstate New York called for licensed gun owners in his county to arm themselves when leaving home, citing mass shootings in Paris and San Bernardino, California.
John Moritz, spokesman for the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas, said he assumes the comments from Kennedy, the Texas chief, reflect the views held in his community. But Moritz said caution should be used when giving such instructions to people who have no law enforcement training.
"Most times citizens are going to be best served and best protected by calling trained law enforcement officers whenever they feel their lives or property are in danger," Moritz said.
The FBI said last week that it processed a record number of firearms background checks on Black Friday, the busy shopping time the day after Thanksgiving. The agency processed 185,345 background checks - roughly two per second - the same day that three people were killed and nine others wounded in an attack at a Planned Parenthood office in Colorado.
The previous record for the most background checks in a single day was Dec. 21, 2012, about a week after 20 children and six adults were shot to death in a Connecticut elementary school. The week following the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary saw the processing of 953,613 gun background checks.

A Chief of Police (also known as Police Chief or sometimes shortened to just Chief) is the title typically given to the top official in the chain of command of a police department, particularly in North America. Alternative titles for this position include Commissioner, Superintendent, and Chief constable. In contrast to a US Sheriff, who is generally elected by the voters of a county, except in the states of Rhode Island and Hawaii, a Chief of Police is usually a municipal employee who owes his or her allegiance to a city or town. Some states have both an appointed and an elected Chief of Police (Louisiana). In some jurisdictions, the head of the police commission is the leader of the police and holds a position analogous or similar to the one described here, in this case, he or she is referred to as Commissioner. The New York City Police Department has both a Police Commissioner and a Chief, formerly called the Chief Inspector, now called the Chief of Department. In Louisiana, a Chief of Police may serve as the Chief of Police, Marshal, and Constable for a city. The fraternal organization International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) is an organization often associated with many Chiefs of Police.

Dec. 9, 2015 - Texas police chief, others urge citizens to arm themselves. DALLAS (AP) -- A Texas police chief who warns President Barack Obama in a social media video that trying to disarm Americans would "cause a revolution in this country" is the latest law enforcement official to urge citizens to arm themselves in the wake of mass shootings.
Randy Kennedy, longtime chief in the small East Texas town of Hughes Springs, about 120 miles east of Dallas, says in the video posted this week on his personal Facebook page that the Second Amendment was established to protect people from criminals and "terrorists and radical ideology."
"It's also there to protect us against a government that has overreached its power," Kennedy says in the video. "You are not our potentate, sir. You are our servant."
He warned people in his town to prepare themselves: "Be ready when the wolf comes to the door, because it's on its way."
Law enforcement officials in Arizona, Florida and New York also have recently prompted citizens to arm themselves - some using similar comments aimed at terrorism.
Kennedy said his call to arms was the result of his disappointment with Obama's Oval Office speech Sunday in which the president vowed the U.S. will overcome a new phase of the terror threat that seeks to "poison the minds" of people here and around the world. The police chief told The Associated Press on Wednesday that he's not asking residents to turn into vigilantes or "become super action heroes."
He said feedback on his video has been supportive for the most part.
"There have been a few extremely nasty comments, calling me basically a backwoods redneck hick creating monsters that don't exist," he said.
Wayne Ivey, the sheriff in Brevard County, Florida, said in a video post on the department's Facebook page over the weekend that political leaders appear more interested in being politically correct than protecting people. He urged residents to arm themselves as a first line of defense against an active shooter.
"The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun," Ivey said.
Another Florida sheriff, Steve Whidden in Hendry County, this week encouraged more people to carry weapons because "we as a nation are under attack by radical Islamic terrorists."
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Arizona issued a statement Tuesday asking "legally armed citizens to take a stand, and take action during a mass shooting/terrorist event until law enforcement arrives."
And last week, Ulster County Sheriff Paul Van Blarcum in upstate New York called for licensed gun owners in his county to arm themselves when leaving home, citing mass shootings in Paris and San Bernardino, California.
John Moritz, spokesman for the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas, said he assumes the comments from Kennedy, the Texas chief, reflect the views held in his community. But Moritz said caution should be used when giving such instructions to people who have no law enforcement training.
"Most times citizens are going to be best served and best protected by calling trained law enforcement officers whenever they feel their lives or property are in danger," Moritz said.
The FBI said last week that it processed a record number of firearms background checks on Black Friday, the busy shopping time the day after Thanksgiving. The agency processed 185,345 background checks - roughly two per second - the same day that three people were killed and nine others wounded in an attack at a Planned Parenthood office in Colorado.
The previous record for the most background checks in a single day was Dec. 21, 2012, about a week after 20 children and six adults were shot to death in a Connecticut elementary school. The week following the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary saw the processing of 953,613 gun background checks.

The city's police chief told reporters the man was a suspect wanted on a felony drug charge. Rolanda Byrd told CNN affiliates WRAL and WNCN the man was her 24-year-old son, Akiel Denkins, and that police had no reason to shoot him. "They killed my son for no reason," Byrd told CNN affiliate WRAL. "Everybody out here said he was running, didn't have a gun, (was) trying to jump a fence, and that officer shot my son seven times. An 18-year-old black high school student was tased and shot dead by police officers in Roanoke, Virginia, who say the teen did not obey commands and pointed a BB gun at them. Officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave. Roanoke County Police Chief Howard Hall identified the deceased on Monday as Kionte DeShaun Spencer, saying the teen was shot twice on Friday night, WDBJ reported. Prior to the shooting, police made two attempts to use a Taser on Spencer, but neither was effective for unknown reasons. The teenager died of his wounds to the hip and the collarbone at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he was taken 15 minutes after the shooting. March 01, 2016 - (CNN) Police in Raleigh, North Carolina, say state authorities are investigating after an officer shot and killed a man there Monday.
The city's police chief told reporters the man was a suspect wanted on a felony drug charge.
Rolanda Byrd told CNN affiliates WRAL and WNCN the man was her 24-year-old son, Akiel Denkins, and that police had no reason to shoot him.
"They killed my son for no reason," Byrd told CNN affiliate WRAL. "Everybody out here said he was running, didn't have a gun, (was) trying to jump a fence, and that officer shot my son seven times. For what? For nothing," she said. "My son didn't have no gun on him. My son wasn't threatening that officer."

An 18-year-old black high school student was tased and shot dead by police officers in Roanoke, Virginia, who say the teen did not obey commands and pointed a BB gun at them. Officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave.
Roanoke County Police Chief Howard Hall identified the deceased on Monday as Kionte DeShaun Spencer, saying the teen was shot twice on Friday night, WDBJ reported. Prior to the shooting, police made two attempts to use a Taser on Spencer, but neither was effective for unknown reasons.
The teenager died of his wounds to the hip and the collarbone at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he was taken 15 minutes after the shooting.
According to the preliminary investigation, police responded to a 911 call about a black male wearing a bandana and a hoodie waving a handgun in the parking lot.
“He was waving it at cars, and he turned around and waved it at me,” witness Thomas Gill told the Roanoke Times.

A federal complaint was filed by the Thomas More Law Center for plaintiffs Greg Luce and Nick Newman. The pressure appears to be too much for Chief Kelemen, as you can plainly see in these videos.

EL CAJON - August 21, 2011 - An El Cajon Police officer is shot right in front of a news camera. The entire incident is caught on camera including the shots fired, officer rescue, SWAT standoff, house fire, helicopter water drops and more.
The suspect, Kevin Collier, shot his 1-year old daughter and his mother-in-law. Police arrived and surrounded the home (including our photog). Officers were then met with gunfire from the suspect who had a rifle. Officer Jarred Slocum was leaning over the bed of a pickup truck with only his head exposed. He was struck in the left temple and the bullet exited the rear of his skull. He was NOT shot in the neck, as it appears and was initially perceived in the heat of the moment. The suspect then set the house on fire before shooting himself. The fire department could not approach the home because officers could not confirm if the suspect was dead or not. Firefighters are not going to walk up to a home with the possibility of a man inside with a rifle. Officers requested Mercy Air for transport, but instead took the wounded officer by ground in a patrol car as it would be quicker. This was on a dead-end street, so the rescue of having to pass the line of fire was incredibly risky. A gas line explodes at one point (bluish smoke). SWAT set up and worked with the fire department to help slow the rate of spread of the fire. Two helicopters began water drops, which is unheard of for a structure fire, but it was the most practical and safest way to control the flames. Officer Slocum is doing well but has decided to "medically retire" from the El Cajon Police Department, move, and go back to college. The officer who was with him, Officer Tim McFarland, was a rookie at the time and was being trained by Slocum. Officer Slocum's wound, although very serious, had very very little blood loss. So for those appauled that none of us applied pressure, quite frankly it wasn't necessary and it's easy to judge what one would do while sitting behind a computer. The bigger threat was the active shooter vs only a handful of officers. And for all you anti-cop commenters, keep in mind, officers are still people with families. The people in this video are heroes who were up against a crazed man set on death and destruction.

* The officer was shot in the left temple, not the neck. Period. I was there. I shot the video. It looks like he was shot in the neck, but he was in shock and holding the wrong area. You can see the exit wound in the back of his head in the video. See the followup interview with both officers if you still don't believe he was shot in the temple.
* The officer was actually shot 1/2 second before the video begins. Enable HD and pause the first few frames. You see him getting up from the chain link fence. He was thrown back from the force of the shot and bounced off the springy fence. He then gets up and returns fire.
