Car driving away STORYLINE: The Swedish Embassy in Islamabad said on Wednesday it hoped to soon be able to visit three Swedes arrested in Pakistan on suspicion of militant activities. The Swedish Ambassador to Pakistan, Ulrika Sundberg, met Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Wednesday to discuss the arrests. She said Pakistan's authorities had assured her they would provide access to the suspects. "We are hopeful to be able to meet these people very soon," she said. Two men and one woman were arrested late last month in a tribal area close to Pakistan's border with Afghanistan. A young boy was also travelling with the group. Police said one of the suspects, Mehdi-Muhammed Ghezali, was once held by the United States at the Guantanamo Bay military detention centre. A police report obtained by The Associated Press said the three detainees entered Pakistan from Iran and had planned to travel to the North Waziristan tribal area to join al-Qaida operatives hiding there.
