Morris Chang (traditional Chinese: 張忠謀; simplified Chinese: 张忠谋; pinyin: Zhāng Zhōngmóu; born July 10, 1931), is the founding Chairman of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. (TSMC) in 1987. TSMC pioneered the "dedicated silicon foundry" industry and is the largest silicon foundry in the world. Morris is known as the father of Taiwan's chip industry.
Chang was born in Ningbo, Zhejiang. When he was younger, he had wanted to become a writer, such as a novelist or journalist. However, his father, an official in the Ningbo county government, persuaded him otherwise. In 1948, as China was in the height of the Chinese Civil War, Chang moved to Hong Kong. The very next year he moved yet again to the United States to attend Harvard University. He transferred to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from MIT in 1952 and 1953, respectively. After leaving MIT without obtaining a Ph.D., he sought to find a job and was hired by Sylvania Semiconductor, then just known as a small semiconductor division of Sylvania Electric Products, in 1955. Three years after working at Sylvania Semiconductor, he moved onto Texas Instruments in 1958, which was then rapidly rising in its field. After three years at TI, he rose to become the manager of the engineering section of the company. It was then, in 1961, that Texas Instruments decide to invest in him by giving him the opportunity to obtain his Ph.D or Doctorate degree. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 1964.
60seconds is a news programme which runs between shows on BBC Three. It broadcasts under the BBC News format and branding. The main presenter is Sam Naz. Previous presenters include Tasmin Lucia-Khan, Andy May, Matt Cooke, James Dagwell and Claudia-Liza Armah.
The programme lasts for 60 seconds as the name suggests, during which time the presenter condenses some of the day's news, sport and entertainment stories into a 60-second bulletin. It only runs from 7pm–12:15am with a bulletin at the top of the hour or after a programme has ended, if more than an hour. Throughout the bulletin, a line gradually crosses the screen which effectively counts down the seconds. There are two sets of pictures running simultaneously for each story. Five stories are featured in every bulletin. 60 Seconds is presented in a style in keeping with the channel. Humour is a feature and some of the scripting often raises a smile. During the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2014 commonwealth games bulletins ran from 7am–12:15am with a round-up of the day's other news stories.

A conspicuous lack of labeling regulations for olive oil, one of the nation''s most popular cooking oils, has finally forced the Food and Drug Administration into action. It''s looking to an existing international standard to draw up a five-tier grading system, under which manufacturers who falsely label their products as "all-natural" or "first press" could face fines as high as NT$4 million. Taiwan doesn’t have any official standards for labeling olive oil, meaning that local consumers have trouble telling apart the good from the bad on shelves full of bottles labeled "all-natural" or "extra virgin," with prices ranging from NT$160 to NT$780. ConsumerI tend to trust the quality of imported brands more, as they have to pass their own quality control measures. If Taiwan doesn’t implement i...

The Taiex hit 10,018 today to set a new 17-year intraday high, before closing at 10,001 on turnover of $96.3 billion Taiwan dollars. One analyst said the breaking of the 10,000-point mark was down to foreign investors snapping up shares of TSMC, as well as financial services and petrochemical companies. The electronics sector led today''s charge, with MediaTek and ASE Group closing up more than 2 percent. Largan Precision finished up one third of a percent, while Hon Hai closed flat. Financial stocks were also up one third of a percent. Foreign investors were behind the surge, buying NT$4 billion Taiwan dollars more in shares than they sold.

TSMC reissued a revised annual report today to debunk rumors about Morris Chang''s retirement from the company''s chairmanship. The rumors arose from ambiguous wording in the previous edition which was published at the end of April. Some of the wording was interpreted by the media as Chang''s intention to relinquish his position as the company''s chairman this year. Chang, who turned 86 this year, has denied any formal plans to do so. During the 2013 board of directors meeting, Morris Chang announced that he would step down as the company’s CEO and let Mark Liu and C.C. Wei take up the mantle as co-CEOs, though Chang said he would remain an active chairman. Morris Chang has previously said that he does not plan to seek a successor from outside the company. The company’s finalized annual re...

What would you do if you had five minutes to live? Trace a young man's few minutes of trying to fulfill his highest potential. http://www.ienchi.com/ Never have I put in so much effort into a single film. This short film is the result of hundreds of hours of work from many people. It was originally made for Campus MovieFest. It is definitely the most ambitious and biggest scale project I've done thus far. Filmed with a 5d mark ii with 24-70mm lens on a steadicam merlin. We did 36 takes to get the right one. All shot on Oxford College of Emory campus. Canon UK were kind enough to loan me a pre-production XF305, their new 50Mbs, 1080p camcorder capturing in 4:2:2 colour onto standard CF cards. The camera has a great lens, with no chromatic aberration and a very usable WFM and Vectorscope on the LCD during shooting. This was the first project I shot with it, a very accomplished classical guitarist and composer, Hayley Savage. A kind friend, Phil Ashby has many years of experience directing and shooting and his help during this was invaluable. Thank you Phil! Shot in 1080p 50Mbs, edited in FCP and graded in Colorista. The mic is a stereo Rode NT4 - it gave an amazingly natural rendition of the guitar with virtually no post needed.

Brian Fuller, Editor in Cheif of EE Times interviews Morris Chang during the 2007 ISSCC held in San Francisco, CA.
[Recorded Oct 17, 2007] A rare and fascinating conversation with one of the most innovative semiconductor pioneers and esteemed business leaders of our time. Born in Ningbo (Zhejiang province), China, in 1931, Dr. Morris Chang is the founding chairman of the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Ltd. (TSMC), a revolutionary enterprise he founded in 1987. TSMC is a dedicated silicon foundry, an independent factory available to anyone for producing integrated circuits. Using this approach, both entrepreneurs and established semiconductor companies could avoid having to build their own semiconductor factories and focus instead on circuit features and system-level product design as the source of value. From 1958 to 1983, Chang worked at Texas Instruments (TI), rising to group vice ...

Hmm, listen
I noticed that you don't act the same
Always leaving home in the evening
It's driving me insane
Baby do you think I'm a fool?
Well I followed you today baby
And what I seen blew me away
I saw you, riding
On the north side with your baby's daddy
You didn't see me, I was low key
Just tell me baby
What the deal be?
I saw you, kicking it
On the north side with your baby's daddy
You didn't see me, I was low key
Just tell me baby
What the deal be?
You always say that he ain't no man
But you, you find a way to see him
Whenever you can, oh yeah
Baby do you think I'm a fool?
Well I followed you today baby, ha
And it blew my mind away
When I saw you...
I saw you, riding
On the north side with your baby's daddy
You didn't see me, I was low key
Just tell me baby
What the deal be?
I saw you, kicking it
On the north side with your baby's daddy
You didn't see me, I was low key
Just tell me baby
What the deal be?
So do you love him?
Or do you love me?
If you love me baby testify about it
Can you do that for me?
Oh so do you want him?
Or do you want me?
Me, me, me, me
Cause if you're down
I'll give you the chance to stay with me
Even though I saw you riding yeah
I saw you, riding
On the north side with your baby's daddy
You didn't see me, I was low key
Just tell me baby
What the deal be?
I saw you, kicking it
On the north side with your baby's daddy
You didn't see me, I was low key
Just tell me baby
What the deal be?
