TASMANIA needed just 40 minutes on the final day of its Sheffield Shield clash against Victoria at Blundstone Arena to wrap up a commanding victory against the competition pacesetters.
The Tigers’ innings and 136 run win was just their second of the 2015-16 season and first at home since December 2014.
Victoria resumed at 7-239 this morning, with Cameron White not out on 100 and Scott Boland unbeaten on 51 looking to build on their 124-run partnership which delayed the host’s push for a victory inside three days.
However, seven balls into the morning White feathered a catch behind from Hamish Kingston to fall for 106.
Next over Boland fell in similar fashion to Sam Rainbird without adding to his overnight total.
It was a well-deserved wicket for Rainbird, who had several edges dropped in the slips during the contest.
Another spilt catch from Beau Webster at second slip gave Fawad Ahmed a life before he scored, but Kingston (3-53) finished proceedings shortly after when Jake Reed was well caught by George Bailey, who ran from mid-on to mid-wicket before diving full stretch.
Ben Dunk was awarded the Scott Mason medal as man of the match for his 190, which helped set up Tasmania’s 8-566 declared.
