Whoever said that 'getting there is half the fun' must have been travelling in Air New Zealand's Business Premier cabin. This is my most favourite business class product + service and it is always my first choice across the pacific to the USA (followed very closely by Virgin Australia). The flat bed is the most comfortable I have experienced and the special kiwi service is second to none. I have profiled Air New Zealand Business Class previously (AKL - LAX), though the last time I did it, I didn't have a 1080HD camera. With that, I decided to do it again (and rarely do I re-do an inflight experience that I have done before...this one is soooo good though, it deserves another upload!)
I would like to acknowledge the wonderful cabin crew team who made this journey so memorable - in particular, Flight Service Manager (Sue) and Senior Flight Attendants Kathy and Phillip.
I hope that you enjoy this flight from MEL to AKL, please stay tuned for the return journey on the 777-200ER.

Two of us booked Economy seats on Air New Zealand's new 777-300ER for a recent long haul Pacific crossing [Aircraft ZK-OKN]. We were given the option of paying extra to upgrade to the "Skycouch" [seen at 4:35]. Very nice as you are guaranteed to have the center seat open. The "couch" has numerous configurations; you can use it as a leg rest, or in the extended and locked position to make a bed. During boarding you are given a thin mattress pad and two extra large pillows to use. You are also given a seatbelt kit that allows you to stay secure no matter what size (children) or position you're in. (There are metal brackets under the seat pocket in front of you to clip the belts to.) Pacific Economy was really nice on the 777-300s. The Inflight Entertainment System is very good. In addition, you can order drinks, snacks and other items that are delivered to your seat. Pretty cool. Self service shelves at the exit rows allow you to have a snack or drink whenever you like.
The most noticeable feature of our Air New Zealand flights however, were the really friendly crew. We flew SFO-AKL-SYD-CHC-AKL-LAX, and every flight found us commenting on how nice the crew was. They all looked sharp and were consistently helpful and cheerful.
wn.com/Air New Zealand Skycouch 777 300 Trip Report
Two of us booked Economy seats on Air New Zealand's new 777-300ER for a recent long haul Pacific crossing [Aircraft ZK-OKN]. We were given the option of paying extra to upgrade to the "Skycouch" [seen at 4:35]. Very nice as you are guaranteed to have the center seat open. The "couch" has numerous configurations; you can use it as a leg rest, or in the extended and locked position to make a bed. During boarding you are given a thin mattress pad and two extra large pillows to use. You are also given a seatbelt kit that allows you to stay secure no matter what size (children) or position you're in. https://www.expedia.com/Auckland.d178233.Destination-Travel-Guides
With 1.5 million lucky people calling Auckland home, this North Island gem is the most populous city in New Zealand. Auckland tourism is quite diverse, giving visitors a bounty of choices for how to spend their time. The city marries modern buildings and art with nature, and the surrounding region has plenty of its own attractions to offer.
Auckland is called the City of Sails, boasting more boats per capita than anywhere else in the world. Nestled between two natural harbors, it’s no wonder residents and visitors alike enjoy spending time on the water. After a breakfast in Elliott Stables, take off on a boat cruise from downtown to explore the sights of Hauraki Gulf.
With your feet back on solid ground, enjoy Auckland sightseeing and shopping along Queen Street. Jet over to Ponsonby, which is considered one of the more hip neighborhoods in Auckland. When lunchtime rolls around, find your way to Devonport, a lovely harborside suburb where you can enjoy a seafood lunch.
With a contented stomach, spend some time at Auckland Domain, the city’s oldest park. Watch a game of cricket, walk through the Formal Gardens, or take a leisurely stroll through the mature trees. If you’re interested in even more of New Zealand’s natural landscape, head just outside the city for rolling hills, jagged cliffs, and forests with towering treetops. Walk through the Hauna Ranges and you’ll be rewarded with the Hunua Falls, an impressive waterfall rushing over a volcanic edge.
Visitors interested in adventurous Auckland tours must head to the downtown Sky Tower before leaving New Zealand. This is the tallest man-made building in the entire country – and it offers a breathtaking base jump from the top. If you’re not in the mood for that much adrenaline, head to the observation platform to take in sweeping views of the city and harbor.

Top Tourist Attractions in New Zealand
Milford Sound
========
Milford Sound is among the most famous tourist attractions in New Zealand. Lying at the most northern and accessible end of Fiordland National Park, Milford sound offers some of the world's most staggering coastal scenery with its dramatic peaks and dark blue waters. The area's frequent downpours only enhance this South Island beauty, sending numerous waterfalls cascading down the cliffs.
Bay of Islands
==========
The Bay of Islands is one of the most popular holiday destinations in New Zealand. The picturesque area contains 144 islands, many secluded bays and some great sandy beaches. This beautiful bay has an abundance of marine life including whales, penguins, dolphins and the big marlin. Not surprisingly, it is a popular tourist spot for sailing yachts on world cruises and international sport fishermen.
Tongariro National Park
===================
The first national park of New Zealand, Tongariro is known for its surprises and extremes. The park's diverse range of ecosystems includes tranquil lakes, active volcanoes, herb fields, untamed forests and desert-like plateaus. Start your trek at the Whakapapa Visitor Center, just a three hour hike from the stunning Taranaki Falls. The short hike will take you through scrubland and forest and across the lava line of volcanic eruptions from hundreds of years ago.
Rotorua
========
Rotorua is known as the thermal wonderland of New Zealand. There are numerous geysers and hot springs in and around the city. Many of these are in parks and reserves. Natural eruptions of steam, hot water and mud occasionally occur in new locations. Nearby Wai-O-Tapu is also a popular tourist attraction with many hot springs noted for their colorful appearance, in addition to the Lady Knox Geyser.
Franz Josef Glacier
=============
This glacier, located within Westland National Park in the southwest, is one of the world's most accessible. Visitors can walk right up to the foot of the massive glacier or take a helicopter ride over the dazzling Ice Age remnant. Together with Fox Glacier it is one of South Westland's major drawcards for tourists.
Kaikoura
========
This small coastal town on the South Island is a haven for seafood lovers. You can spot fur seals, dolphins, sperm whales and albatrosses off the shore, then indulge in a feast of fresh crayfish, mussels, blue cod and more. Land lovers can take a wilderness walk through the untamed and dramatic Kaikoura forest.
Napier Art Deco
========
Napier, a small city in Hawke's Bay on the North Island's east coast, is famous for its eye-catching art deco architecture. Most of Napier was leveled by an earthquake in 1931. The rebuilding period coincided with the short-lived Art Deco era and as a result Napier's architecture is strikingly different from any other city in the world. Thousands of tourist visit Napier every February for the Art Deco Weekend, an event dedicated to the style, vintage cars, picnics and the soapbox derby.
Sky Tower
===============
The Sky Tower is an observation and telecommunications tower located in New Zealand's largest city. At a height of 328 meters (1,076 ft) it is the tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere and the Sky Tower has become an iconic structure in Auckland's skyline. The tower offers views of up to 80 km away and fine dining in the Orbit revolving restaurant.
Abel Tasman National Park
===============
Located on the northern tip of the country's South Island, this vast national park is a hiker's dream. Closed to vehicles, one must enter by boat, foot or small plane, but the trip is well worth it. While traversing the mountainous terrain, blue penguins, wekas, oyster catchers, wood pigeons and other rare birds can all be seen.
Coromandel Peninsula
==============
This north-eastern peninsula is famous for its white and golden sand beaches that frame magnificent coastal scenery, forests perfect for days of exploration and other natural wonders. Start your visit in Thames, a small but picturesque city with a rich history of gold mining. Don't miss a stop at Hot Water Beach, where visitors can dig their own hot pool from the springs under the sands.

New Zealand is known as the “Land of the Long White Cloud” to its native Maori people, and Wellington is its cultural, political, and culinary capital. In fact, Wellington is the southernmost capital in the entire world. This compact city is trendy, creative, and begging to be explored.
Wellington tourism is diverse; fresh ocean winds blow off the Cook Strait and invite you to kayak in the harbor or explore the beach. The compact city center is replete with street art and museums and imbued with creativity. Many Wellington tours begin with a cup of coffee at a downtown café. Once your eyes are open, take a walking tour of the area and observe the eclectic architecture, including the Parliament building and its beehive-shaped executive wing.
Next, ride a historic Wellington cable car from Lambton Quay to the Botanic Garden. Make your way back down on foot, weaving through the gardens on scenic paths. For a look at the history of this South Pacific capital, go to Te Papa National Museum, which outlines the country’s cultural heritage.
Cap off your day of Wellington sightseeing with a locally brewed beer on the wharf and enjoy some fine dining at one of the many cozy city center restaurants.
What do you look forward to doing most in Wellington?

So the best way to appreciate Queenstown is to act like a teenager;

Wenn Queenstown war ein Mensch, wäre es ein Teenager zu sein.
Der beste Weg nach Queenstown zu schätzen ist, wie ein Teenager verhalten;
Dinge tun, zum ersten Mal, wie Fallschirmspringen oder Bungee,
bleiben und Party die ganze Nacht,

Complete Program - Meet the locals as the Overlander travels around New Zealand
Explore New Zealand's top tourist destinations with the locals.
Stories include:
In Auckland, I took a 'favorite five' tour with Dr Maya, checking out the Mt Eden lookout, the Parnell French Market, Mt Eden shopping village, Piha Beach and finally fish and chips at Mission Bay.
The Bay of islands is a aquatic paradise made up of some 150 islands. I take to the water, going on a fishing trip and swimming with Dolphins. I also learn about Maori culture, getting an insight into why the Waitangi Heritage site is afraid of the scourge of Tourism, and what Maori Tattoos and the Hongi Greeting represent.
Local gym owner Belinda Bennett takes me to a secret location, but insists on blindfolding me, handcuffing me and locking me in the boot of her car, in order to keep the spot under wraps. I interviewed Maori Masseuse Wiki about Maori healing techniques, such as romiromi massage and the use of healing plants like Kawakawa. I then visit Te Puia National Maori Carving School where I interview Cori Marsters about this ancient art.
Film in Cuba Street, asking people what they liked about Wellington. Met some amazing people and as one person said, 'There is always a secret doorway in Wellington' where you may find a bar, an art gallery or musicians performing.
I interview Maverick businessman, Peter Yealands who runs Yealands Estate, a 1,000 Hectare winery that has been hailed the most sustainable winery in the world. Yealands has introduced some innovative sustainable practices in their vineyard, such as grazing miniature 'babydoll' sheep, instead of using mowing equipment, and developing a biodegradable plastic bottle.
Hitchhike from Nelson to Takaka, and then onto Abel Tasman National Park. I learn about how the hippies moved into the Takaka region in the 1970′s, and how even today the area is made up of lifestylers trying to live off the land.
If Queenstown was a person, it would be a teenager.
So the best way to appreciate Queenstown is to act like a teenager;
do things for the first time, like skydiving or bungy,
stay up and party all night,
and then laze about in a spa the next day.
I was in Christchurch on a Wednesday night and wanted to check out the nightlife.
I happened to find a venue that was running a Burlesque competition.
Being a bit cheeky, I thought what better way to explore a city founded on puritan religious values, than to feature tassles and lingerie.

http://www.expedia.com/Rotorua.d6048125.Destination-Travel-Guides
Rotorua, New Zealand is positioned amid some of the most stunning and volatile landscapes on earth, and has become a prime spot for adventurous souls. Its volcanic activity makes it a prime spot for hot springs and geysers, and previous geothermal movement has carved impressive landscapes out of the earth.
To truly experience the region’s history, your Rotorua tour should include a stop at Te Wairoa, also called the Buried Village. It was engulfed in soot and ash in 1886 when Mt. Tarawea erupted, and many of the artifacts and buildings that were buried have since been extracted and are on permanent display.
Test your nerves in the grade 5 rapids of the Kaituna River, or hop into a boat for a high-speed cruise through the winding gorges. Looking for an easier adventure? Mount Ngongotaha offers a spectacular view of Lake Rotorua, and you can take a gondola ride up to the top to get a 360-degree view of the area. It’s the perfect place to cap off your day of Rotorua sightseeing.
Round out your day with a soak in one of the many hot springs and plan out your next daring New Zealand adventure.

Rotorua represents everything bad about tourism over saturation. When a place just expects the tourists to keep arriving, complacency sets in. In my story, I decided to go back to the origins of why Rotorua became a tourist town, it's healing mineral waters. Can the geothermal activity underground have an effect on people who visit Rotorua?

NEW ZEALAND TRAVEL VLOG 2015 | QUEENSTOWN [PART 1] (Click for itinerary)
Hope you guys enjoyed watching the vlog as much as I enjoyed my time in New Zealand! It's been a good break and holiday for me and I hope to share as much of that as I can with all of you! I’ll be uploading a new vlog every Sunday for the next couple of weeks so be sure to Subscribe if you haven’t already! x
Places featured in this vlog: (Travel Guide)
1) APEX Car Rentals
http://www.apexrentals.co.nz/RentalCarLocations/queenstown-rental-cars-branch.aspx?gclid=Cj0KEQiAj8uyBRDawI3XhYqOy4gBEiQAl8BJbQ0YrShSItngrvalkSHcDuWFdxRWqhsQagVBUlJb2lwaAoY58P8HAQ&ef;_id=VNIplgAAAFeGURIQ:20151123083426:s
One of the cheapest and most reliable car rental places. It is very convenient and they have shuttles that pick and drop you off from and to the airport.
2) Airbnb Apartment
Not going to link it to the actual apartment as I wouldn't recommend it. The view is amazing but there is no internet. A lot of apartments around the area have amazing views and internet!
3) Arrowtown Scenic Walk

A great walk with some really nice views!
4) The Remarkable Candy Shop

Amazing candy shop with homemade and branded goods.
5) Outside Sports Equipment Rental
http://www.outsidesports.co.nz/
I do not recommend this place at all. The equipment was old, dirty and wasn't the cheapest either. You can fine much better quality equipment for better prices at smaller shops and once that only do equipment hire.
6) Ferg Burger

7) Kiwi Crawl
http://www.kiwicrawl.co.nz/
I reckon we went on a bad day. Their facebook page and website do show some really hectic nights and crawls but ours was just sad. Give it a go and you might end up with a really great night out!

One of the cheapest and most reliable car rental places. It is very convenient and they have shuttles that pick and drop you off from and to the airport.
2) Airbnb Apartment
Not going to link it to the actual apartment as I wouldn't recommend it. The view is amazing but there is no internet. A lot of apartments around the area have amazing views and internet!
3) Arrowtown Scenic Walk
http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/ShowUserReviews-g257473-d2639015-r293860068-Arrowtown_Village-Arrowtown_Otago_Region_South_Island.html
A great walk with some really nice views!

The Auckland metropolitan area, in the North Island of New Zealand, is the largest and most populous urban area in the country. Auckland straddles the Auckland volcanic field, which has produced about 50 volcanoes.
The most important places to visit in Auckland are: Sky Tower (offers amazing city views. Auckland wouldn't be the same without Sky Tower), Waiheke Island (a seaside paradise close to Auckland. Explore its picturesque vineyards and green pastures), Mount Eden (a big dormant volcanic crater with excellent views of Auckland), Cornwall Park (a peaceful escape from the city, you'll walk amongst mature trees and possibly even spot sheep), Karekare Beach (an unusual beach with its black sand and tall cliffs, this stunning location was used in the movie The Piano) and many more.
This video offers a lot of tips to help you plan the perfect vacation. If you want to save time and money, the most important Auckland travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on http://bookinghunter.com, a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available

STORY: Decades may have passed, but the love between 93 year-old World War II veteran Norwood Thomas and his wartime girlfriend, Joyce Morris, now 88 years-old, was clearly still burning strong when the two lovebirds reunited in Australia on Wednesday (February 10) after 70 years apart.
Thomas flew around the world from Virginia to be reunited with Morris, who now lives in Adelaide, a city in southern Australia.
Upon meeting, the two could not hide their excitement as they hugged and kissed each other.
Morris could be heard saying to Thomas: "we are going to have a wonderful fortnight together."
The couple then sat together on a sofa and held hands.
"It was a nice feeling to see this women that I hadn't seen in 70 years. Of course, there was a great difference in appearance but there's a big difference in my appearance too so it was a wonderful experience," said Thomas, after the reunion.
Thomas was just 21 when he met the 17 year-old Morris on the banks of the river Thames in London.
"This friend and I were walking across a bridge at Richmond across the Thames river and we looked down below and saw these two young ladies that were talking to a man about renting a row boat so we decided we'd go down and say hello. We did, and after asking these ladies what they were doing, they said they were renting a boat to take it and get some exercise. So we suggested that we rent two boats and one of the ladies would row my friend and the other would row me and that way they could both get exercise," recalled Thomas.
When the war ended, Thomas returned to the U.S. He asked Morris to relocate to the United States to marry him but it was not meant to be.
The two ended up marrying other people - Thomas' wife died in 2001 and Morris is divorced. Both have children.
The reunion happened after one of Morris' children found Thomas mentioned in an article online and reached out to the publication to make contact with him.
Thomas and Morris then connected via Skype and once the public got wind of the story, they sent in donations to help fund a trip for the two to be reunited. Air New Zealand also offered Thomas a free flight to Australia.

Melbourne's last 767 service after the sad retirement of the Qantas's entire fleet of them. Rumored that these are gonna be retired during this year, I'm glad I caught it for potentially the final time. Looking forward to a bit of a change though, seeing their new 787-9s in June will be something special!

"Erebus:
This lengthy docu-drama deals with the cause and aftermath of the Air New Zealand air crash on Mount Erebus in Antarctica in 1978. It pulls few punches and is hard to "put down" so to speak. Frank Finlay as Mr Justice Mahon is quite brilliant and almost all the other members of this essentially New Zealand cast are pretty good too. The drama does not depict either the Air New Zealand m

A brand new aircraft on one of my most favourite airlines:) The Boeing 787-9 is certainly the most futuristic airliner I've ever experienced and what better way to welcome the Dreamliner to my channel than by sharing this journey with you on the world's most innovative airline (and launch customer of the Boeing 787-9) - Air New Zealand. I'm sure you'll agree that the Dreamliner looks visually stunning on the outside - with both its chevron-toothed engine rims and swept wing tips. It is equally as sleek on the inside too, with large portholes, a unique window shade dimming system and mood lighting. This particular flight from AKL to PER was approximately 7 hours in duration and it would be my absolute pleasure to showcase Air NZ's special brand of hospitality - wonderful service, beautiful food + fresh produce and amazing New Zealand wines. I even managed to get some rest on the legendary Air NZ lay flat bed - which is one of the most comfortable in the sky and available on both their 787 and 777 200ER/300ER operated services. For those of you who may be interested, the registration of this aircraft shown in this video is ZK-NZD and at the time of my flight, it was brand new having operated its first revenue service only 2 months earlier! My signature model aircraft giveaway is back too - with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner 1/200 scale model direct from the Boeing plant in Seattle, WA. Stay tuned throughout the vid for details on how to win that! Many greetings, David (aka: inflightexpert).

Welcome aboard one of the newest aircraft in the skies.... the Boeing 787-9. Air New Zealand is the launch customer of the type and are currently flying it between Auckland and Sydney, soon to be followed by Perth and some Asian destinations.
These Auckland/Sydney runs have been a way for the crew to familiarise themselves with the aircraft before long haul services commence. This video has been filmed in the brand new Premium Economy cabin, this particular seat is different to that found on the B777-300ER, it's a more typical recliner seat in black leather.
This comprehensive video shows flight NZ104 and includes the boarding, pushback, engine start (great start sound), taxi, takeoff, climb, cruise, meal service, a look at the economy cabin, descent and landing in Auckland.
Please note that whilst I was sitting in Premium Economy, the service is standard Tasman economy. This is because Air New Zealand don't sell premium economy on short haul sectors, however you can pre-purchase a seat for an additional charge. These seats are also provided to elite frequent flyers and those travelling on the works deluxe or premium economy long haul fares.
There is the ability to purchase food and snacks on the entertainment touch screen and have them delivered, you will see this demonstrated in this video.

Please SHARE & COMMENTS OR Subscribes to My Channel Mayday, also known as Air Crash Investigation(s) in Australia, South Africa, Asia and some European countries, and Air Emergency and Air Disasters in the United States, is a Canadian documentary television program produced by Cineflix investigating air crashes, near-crashes, hijackings, bombings and other disasters. Mayday uses re-enactments and computer-generated imagery to reconstruct for its audiences the sequence of events leading up to each disaster. In addition, aviation experts, retired pilots and crash investigators are interviewed explaining how these emergencies came about, how they were investigated and how they could have been prevented.
An Air New Zealand Airbus A320-200, registration D-AXLA (ZK-OJL), test flight GXL888T from Perpignan to Perpignan (France) for a touch and go and then onward to Frankfurt/Main (Germany) with 7 people (2 Germans, 5 New Zealanders) on board, crashed into the Mediterranean Sea off the coast near Perpignan (France) at 16:46 local (15:46Z), approximately 7km (3.8nm) before Saint-Cyprien.
The airplane was heard on Perpignan's approach frequency at approximately 16:45 local (15:45Z), when the crew established contact with approach descending through flight level 120 on a heading of 090. The approach controller cleared the airplane for the LANET ILS 33 approach (see chart below) and a descent to 4000 feet. That instruction was acknowledged, which was the last transmission from the aircraft. The pilot of a Piper yelled on the radio shortly thereafter, that an airplane had crashed. The pilot started to circle the crash site at radial 110 PPG VOR DME 10.5 until first rescue forces, a helicopter immediately dispatched from Perpignan, arrived on scene. The helicopter crew subsequently reported a white spot on the sea via radio, no aircraft visible, but debris spread out one kilometer (~0.6nm).
Coast Guard patrol boats as well as a helicopter by the Navy found floating parts, the airplane itsself has been located on a sandy ground at a depth of 35 meters. The search and rescue operations were suspended at around 22:30Z Nov 27th and resumed at daybreak Nov 28th.
The black boxes were located on Friday (Nov 28th), however not yet recovered due to deteriorating weather conditions. The cockpit voice recorder could be recovered on Saturday (Nov 29th), the first results should be known within 48 hours, the deputy prosecutor said in a press conference on Saturday. In another press conference on Monday the states attorney reported, that the cockpit voice recorder was destroyed beyond use. The flight data recorder was recovered on Monday, too, the condition of the device has not been revealed. Indications are, that the airplane hit the water at very high speed and completely disintegrated. A judicial investigation into involuntary homicide has been opened by the states attorney.

The drama does not depict either the Air New Zealand management or the New Zealand government of the time in a good light and it is hard to conclude that this position is not correct. However it has undoubtedly made this a controversial production in some circles and it has not been released on video yet. Vested interests might prevail to ensure it is never released which would be a real pity and a loss to legitimate free speech. Copies of the broadcast are hard to come by and should be snapped up if they come your way.

On 27 November 2008, a test flight, operated by XL Airways Germany Flight 888T, crashed into the Mediterranean Sea near France after a low-speed stall, killing all 7 people on board. The investigators determined that improper maintenance work allowed water to enter the plane's angle of attack (AOA) sensors. The water then froze in flight, causing a blockage in the sensors, with the crew not being aware of it.
XL Airways Germany Flight 888T was an Airbus A320 which plunged into the Mediterranean Sea, 7 km off Canet-en-Roussillon on the French coast, close to the Spanish border, in November 2008.[1] The technical flight originated from Perpignan - Rivesaltes Airport, made an overflight of Gaillac and was flying back to Perpignan Airport, doing an approach over the sea. This flight took place immediately following light maintenance and repainting to Air New Zealand livery on the aircraft done at EAS Industries in preparation for a transfer of the plane between XL Airways Germany, which leased the aircraft, and Air New Zealand, the owner.
The extent of shattering of the wreckage indicated that the crash occurred at high speed.
The crash area was declared a crime scene and the French justice system opened a manslaughter investigation.
The aircraft had been overhauled by a local French company located at the Perpignan--Rivesaltes Airport prior to its return off lease.

Enjoy the amazing start up and spooling sounds of the Rolls Royce Trent 895s when the 772 taxis. You can see the Auckland city skyline lights on the climb out, but on the approach into SFO we flew over Silicon Valley with views of the salt lakes and the hills. The landing was silky smooth, probably one of the smoothest I've had thanks to the ANZ pilots!
The first part of the startup, taxi, takeoff and climb out were recorded in 1080p with a Canon 60D, and the approach and landing were recorded with a Canon Legria HFR26 in 1080p also.

The first comprehensive documentary on the Mt Erebus Disaster of 1979, involving an Air NZ sightseeing flight which crashed into the Antarctic Mountain killing all those aboard in November of 1979.
The film concisely documents the sequence of events from the crash itself to the Royal Commission of Enquiry, noting the conflicts and divisions that were created once it became clear that the 'NZ establishment' were trying to whitewash the entire debacle and have the accident passed off as simple 'pilot error'.
This documentary has been used as primary reference material for many other films and investigations on the Mt Erebus tragedy, due to its concise yet comprehensive production and narration, and its honesty in addressing the political and corporate interests that sought to vindicate the airline at any cost.
I do not own any of this material, and have simply re-edited it to remove the ads and publish it as a single file. It belongs to TVNZ, who in the interests of education, justice, and respect, should refrain from making any copyright claims against this ex-patriot's account.

This was the start of my journey back home to NZ via Los Angeles again. Once again, so many thanks to Air New Zealand for the fantastic service! It's not surprising they were airline of the year in 2010 and they deserve to be airline of the year again!
The takeoff from Heathrow was FULL POWER takeoff, so that's why the video was kind of shaky. Then while we were climbing out of Heathrow, I saw some amazing cumulonimbus cloud higher up (not visible from the ground!). Even thousands of feet up in the air where it's beyond freezing, the sunlight burnt pretty badly! Enjoy the video!
We had a beautiful sunset approach and landing into Los Angeles, just as the red ball of the sun was retreating behind the hills on the horizon... Golden moments!
Please like and comment if you enjoy the video! It helps a lot just to click that thumbs up and it means a lot to me :-)

Welcome to my gaming channel, I am bringing you to a virtual world of flying, bird's eye view of the universe and a high level of reality.
I am a virtual airline pilot for Air New Zealand Virtual, with over hundreds of routes, but not only that I can fly with over tens of other airlines and hundreds more routes.
As I am looking for to make this a permanent job, it would mean a lot to me if you Subscribe, give it a thumb up and share it out with all the aviation enthusiast.
As I am still working to get everything working, there will be some minor issues but it will not affect the video quality in anyway. I broadcast most of my flight LIVE on Twitch so make sure you go and check it out (links below). You can also visit my website for my flight schedule and more of my other projects will be there (again links below). If you manage to read it to this far, I would like to say thank you :)

XL Airways Germany Flight 888T was an Airbus A320 which crashed into the Mediterranean Sea, 7 km off Canet-en-Roussillon on the French coast, close to the Spanish border, in November 2008. The technical flight originated from Perpignan - Rivesaltes Airport, made an overflight of Gaillac and was flying back to Perpignan Airport, doing an approach over the sea. This flight took place immediately following light maintenance and repainting to Air New Zealand livery on the aircraft done at EAS Industries in preparation for a transfer of the plane from XL Airways Germany, which leased the aircraft, to Air New Zealand, the owner.
Seven people were aboard, two Germans (pilot Norbert Kaeppel and co-pilot Theodore Ketzer from XL Airways) and five New Zealanders (one pilot, three aircraft engineers and one member of the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand). Two bodies were recovered within hours of the crash; the others were found during later weeks.

Join me on the Hobbiton Movie Set in New Zealand as I do a photo shoot campaign for Air New Zealand. I almost never do client work, but since NZ is my new home, I made an exception. Besides, I like Air New Zealand!
