The imperial amazon (Amazona imperialis), also known as the sisserou, is a parrot found only on the Caribbean island of Dominica, specifically within the 90 km2 (35 sq mi) of mountainous rainforest near the Morne Diablotins and the Morne Trois Pitons National Park.
The imperial amazon measures an average of 48 cm (19 in) in length. With males weighing an average of 900 g (32 oz) and females 650 g (23 oz), the species is large for its genus.
Being of the family Psittacidae, the sisserou has zygodactyl feet and a thick, hooked bill with a muscular tongue. This bill is fashioned in such a way that using its hinged mandibles and tongue, the sisserou can easily move food around in its mouth.
Males and females have identical plumage. Adult plumage is very colorful and mostly darkly colored: the chest is a dark shade of purple, and the upper-parts and feathers are a dark shade of green, with black-edged feather tips. The eye-ring is dark brown, with the eye being a mix of orange and red. Juvenile appearance does not differ much, with a higher occurrence of green plumage and strictly brown eyes.

Dominica (/ˌdɒmɪˈniːkə/ DOM-i-NEE-kə;French: Dominique; Island Carib: Wai‘tu kubuli), officially the Commonwealth of Dominica, is an island country in the Lesser Antilles region of the Caribbean Sea, south-southeast of Guadeloupe and northwest of Martinique. Its area is 750 square kilometres (290 sq mi) and the highest point is Morne Diablotins, at 1,447 metres (4,747 ft) elevation. The population was 72,301 at the 2014 census. The capital is Roseau, located on the leeward side of the island.
The island was originally inhabited by the Kalinago/Arawak and later colonised by the Europeans, predominately by the French, who arrived at the island on Sunday, 3 November 1493 ("Sunday" = "Domenica" in Italian). Great Britain took it over in 1763 after the Seven Years' War and gradually established English as the official language. The island republic gained independence in 1978.
Its name is pronounced with emphasis on the third syllable, related to its former Dominique. Dominica has been nicknamed the "Nature Isle of the Caribbean" for its unspoiled natural beauty. It is the youngest island in the Lesser Antilles, still being formed by geothermal-volcanic activity, as evidenced by the world's second-largest hot spring, Boiling Lake. The island has lush mountainous rainforests, and is the home of many rare plants, animals, and bird species. There are xeric areas in some of the western coastal regions, but heavy rainfall occurs inland. The Sisserou parrot (also known as the imperial amazon), is found only on Dominica and is the island's national bird and features on the national flag. Dominica's economy depends on tourism and agriculture.
The Imperial amazon ( Amazona imperialis ) is one of the most endangered bird species in the world. This is my own recording about the birds. To be face to face with these wonderful creatures was a once in a lifetime oportunity to me. I will never forget. God bless Dominica and the amazons.
On May 10, 2010, the Forestry Division of the Government of Dominica made history with the birth of the fist chick of the endangered Sisserou Parrot (Amazona imperialis) in captivity on the island. This is the first recorded birth of this type anywhere in the world, and augers well for the future of this parrot which is Dominicas National Symbol. Stephen Durand, Assistant Forest Officer, gives details of this momentous event in a statement to the local media on May 13, 2010, as part of activities to commemorate the Caribbean Endemic Bird Festival on Dominica:
Rare footage of an Imperial Amazon parrot, or Sisserou, vocalizing in the forests of Dominica.

*Sisserou Parrot I'm on vacation between 2nd and 3rd year!!! Gonna use this opportunity to explore parts of Dominica I have not seen in years!
Cesare l’altro Bruto
Tu sola sai di me se bevo il caff? perch?
Only you
Only you
Guardare avanti mi ripeti tu
Dovrei staccare gli occhi dal cuscino
C’? un coccodrillo sulla polo blu
O forse nella vasca del vicino
