Hollywood A-lister Richard Gere took a surprise audience singalong on Friday's edition of The Late Late Show in his stride, saying it was "very sweet".
The actor was treated to a sing-off with two audience members belting out Up Where We Belong, the theme tune to his classic movie An Officer and a Gentleman, and it wasn't long before the entire audience was on their feet, singing along and waving their arms in the air.

Gere was wildly complimentary of the impromptu performance, saying: "It was very sweet, it was so generous and open and so talented, a sense of community and joy. Wonderful!"

The actor, who was in Dublin for the premiere of his new film, Time Out of Mind, also reminisced with host Ryan Tubridy about one of his most iconic films - 1990's Pretty Woman.
He said: "We had a great time making that movie. We were all in love with each other. It just has some magic. You can't make magic, we couldn't do it again.
"There was a moment in her [Julia Roberts] life, my life, the world, Garry Marshall the director, it just all came together that way."
