Lament (song description):
The encounter with the Transcendent inspires an unspeakable awe, in the face of which our worldly existence appears as a source of separation and sorrow. Lament meditates on lines written by Ibn 'Arabi (1165-1240) communicating the terror and wonder of an experience of the Infinitely Beyond. The poet uses visceral language that associates the desolation of the lover with the desolation of the desert to evoke the meeting of overwhelming attraction and overwhelming fear in a heart that trembles in the face of the Absolute.

A lament or lamentation is a song, poem, or piece of music expressing grief, regret, or mourning.
Many of the oldest and most lasting poems in human history have been laments. Laments are present in both the Iliad and the Odyssey, and laments continued to be sung in elegiacs accompanied by the aulis in classical and Hellenistic Greece. Lament elements figure in Beowulf, in the Hindu Vedas, and in ancient Near Eastern religious texts, including the Mesopotamian city laments such as the Lament for Ur and the Jewish Tanakh, (which would later become the Christian Old Testament).
In many oral traditions, both early and modern, the lament has been a genre usually performed by women: Batya Weinbaum made a case for the spontaneous lament of women chanters in the creation of the oral tradition that resulted in the Iliad The material of lament, the "sound of trauma" is as much an element in the Book of Job as in the genre of pastoral elegy, such as Shelley's "Adonais" or Matthew Arnold's "Thyrsis".

To end out the wonderful year that was 2015, I bring you a final, much requested cover. I must admit, I have yet to fully playthrough this game (I promise I'll play it after this cover, Josh! XD), but, much like I was with Steven Universe, I covered the songs first, then fell head over heels in love with it xD I assume the same will happen with Undertale! I've heard many-a great things, and if this beautifully, heart-wrenching song is any indication of its quality, it might be one of my favorite stories ever. But onto the cover itself!! Because I hadn't played Undertale yet, I enlisted the help of my big bro to write some lyrics to this instrumental piece. And he did a FANTASTIC job, if I do say so myself :) He gave me some great material to work with. HUGE shout out to SevenUp for the GORGEOUS instrumental piece! Soundstreams presented this work at 'The Music of Arvo Pärt' concert that took place on October 1, 2013 at Koerner Hall in Toronto (Canada) and was performed by Choir 21, Virtuoso String Orchestra and Tõnu Kaljuste (conductor).
In an interview in Toronto in the 1980's, Pärt shared his personal definition of minimalism as the process by which his music is reduced to the number One. In his view, that One is the Divine Creator. In Adam's Lament (2009) he sees the Biblical Adam as a unifying symbol. Pärt said, "Our ancestor Adam foresaw the human tragedy that was to come and experienced it as his own guilty responsibility, the result of his sinful act. He suffered all the cataclysms of humanity into the depths of depression, inconsolable in his agony." Adam's Lament is based on a Russian text by the ascetic monk and poet, St. Silouan of Athos (1866--1938). Pärt's fascination with Silouan is such that his setting of this text is faithful to its every nuance. The music reflects a range of devotional writing that's by turns dramatic, passionate, humble and submissive.

The 11th century was a time of knighthood, when the medieval monarchs were waning due to feuding lords and knights. Two of the courageous knights fighting during this period were Leon Belmont and Mathias Cronqvist, who together with Leon's exceptional combat experience and Mathias' skills as a tactician led one of the strongest companies in the realm. Walter Bernhard was a powerful vampire who lived in a castle within a forest covered in eternal darkness. One day, Leon's fiance, Sara, is kidnapped by this very vampire. Leon renounces his loyalty to the Church in order to save her.

Когда я был с Ним, душа моя была весела и покойна, и враг не имел ко мне доступа; а теперь злой дух взял власть надо мною, и колеблет, и томит душу мою, и потому скучает душа моя о Господе даже до-смерти, и рвется дух мой к Богу, и ничто на земле не веселит меня, и ничем не хочет душа моя утешиться, но снова хочет видеть Его и насытиться Им. Не могу забыть Его ни на минуту, и томится душа моя по Нему, и от множества скорби стоном плачу я: «помилуй мя, Боже, падшее создание Твое».
Так рыдал Адам, и слезы лились по лицу его на грудь и землю, и вся пустыня слушала стоны его; звери и птицы замолкали в печали; а Адам рыдал, ибо за грех его все потеряли мир и любовь.
Велика была скорбь Адама по изгнании из рая, но когда он увидел сына своего Авеля, убитого братом — Каином, то еще большею стала скорбь его, и он мучился душою, и рыдал, и думал: «от меня произойдут и размножатся народы, и все будут страдать и жить во вражде и убивать друг друга». И эта скорбь его была велика, как море, и понять ее может только тот, чья душа познала Господа и как много Он нас любит. И я потерял благодать и вместе с Адамом зову: «Милостив буди мне, Господи. Даруй мне духа смирения и любви».
О, любовь Господня! Кто познал тебя, тот неустанно ищет тебя день и ночь и кричит:
