Rivals (Coal Chamber album)

Rivals is the fourth studio album by the American nu metal band Coal Chamber. The album was released on May 19, 2015.

Music

Described as nu metal and groove metal,Rivals has been compared to all of the previous Coal Chamber albums, being described as most similar to the band's third album Dark Days. In a 2015 review of the album, 100% Rock Magazine wrote that "Coal Chamber have taken the nu metal styling of the early 2000’s and modernized the sound for the current day". The album Rivals shows Coal Chamber moving away from their gothic sound.

Rivals is Coal Chamber's first release since Dark Days (2002). On March 2, 2015, the first single released from the album was "I.O.U. Nothing". On March 9, 2015, the second single from the album, "Rivals", was released.

Magkaribal (lit. Rivals) is a Philippine suspense drama about love, fashion, and family which began on June 28, 2010 and ended on November 5, 2010 on ABS-CBN. The show was launched as part of the half-term show line-up by ABS-CBN as a part of its celebration for the 60th Anniversary of Philippine Soap Opera.

The series is the story of two women in the fashion world who discover they are sisters.

Production and reception

The show is set the fashion world and includes costuming and cameo appearances by local designers. According to several executives behind the show's production, the series was originally planned to stage the comeback of actress Donna Cruz. During the course of pre-production, Cruz was to play Angela Abella, and Angel Aquino was initially considered to portray the role of Victoria Abella. Christopher de Leon was also tapped to play the role of Manuel, and Cherie Gil was shortlisted as Vera Cruz. The series also included Derek Ramsay as Louie, Enchong Dee as Caloy, and Erich Gonzales as Chloe. After Cruz backed out due to her commitments in Cebu where she permanently resides, ABS-CBN tapped real-life sisters Gretchen Barretto and Claudine Barretto for the roles of Victoria and Angela respectively. After the latter's transfer to GMA Network along with actors de Leon and Gil, the production was again delayed. It was only until Bea Alonzo's casting as Angela Abella that the series continued to develop, with Barretto retaining the role as Victoria, and Aquino this time playing the role of Vera. Rosales and Hermosa backed out of the project after so much delay in production, and both actors were replaced by Enchong Dee and Erich Gonzales. Mark Gil took the role of Manuel in the final casting of characters.

The Republican Party, commonly referred to as the GOP (abbreviation for Grand Old Party), is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States, the other being its historic rival, the Democratic Party.

Founded by anti-slavery activists, modernists, ex-Whigs, and ex-Free Soilers in 1854, the Republicans dominated politics nationally and in the majority of northern States for most of the period between 1860 and 1932. Instead republican ideals have been incorporated into the concept of conservatism, which serves as the ideological core of the party. This conservatism contrasts with the modern liberalism of the Democrats. The Republican Party's conservatism involves support for free market capitalism, free enterprise, business, a strong national defense, deregulation, restrictions on labor unions, social-conservative policies (particularly opposition to abortion), and traditional values, usually with a Christian foundation. The party is deeply split on the issue of how to deal with illegal immigration.

Turn (Travis song)

"Turn" is the fourth single from Indie band Travis' second studio album, The Man Who. The single peaked at the number eight position on the UK Singles Chart.

Music video

Two music videos were shot for the single. The first video, included on the group's Singles DVD, features Healy engaged in a push-up contest. This video was filmed in Hackney on a dis-used council estate. The estate has since been demolished. The second featured a staged performance by the band.

B-sides

The British release of the single was accompanied by a cover of Britney Spears's hit single "...Baby One More Time". Spears herself heard the Travis version while shopping, and commented by saying it was 'a total shock' and was 'a very good cover'.

Turn (Roscoe Mitchell album)

Turn is an album by American jazz saxophonist Roscoe Mitchell which was recorded in 2005 and released on the French RogueArt label. He leads a new quintet with longtime rhythm section Jaribu Shahid on bass and Tani Tabbal on drums, pianist Craig Taborn and new Art Ensemble of Chicago trumpeter Corey Wilkes.

Reception

In his review for AllMusic, Alain Drouot states "This is a remarkably focused and concise date featuring Mitchell's brand of atonal jazz mixed with his interests in other musical forms."

The All About Jazz review by Kurt Gottschalk says "As a whole, the group is comfortable together, ready to let the compositions stand and while Shahid and Tabal haven't been the most exciting parts of Mitchell's groups, here they sound better than ever."

Turn (geometry)

A turn is a unit of plane angle measurement equal to 2π radians, 360° or 400 gon. A turn is also referred to as a revolution or complete rotation or full circle or cycle or rev or rot.

A turn can be subdivided in many different ways: into half turns, quarter turns, centiturns, milliturns, binary angles, points etc.

Subdivision of turns

A turn can be divided in 100 centiturns or 1000 milliturns, with each milliturn corresponding to an angle of 0.36°, which can also be written as 21′ 36″. A protractor divided in centiturns is normally called a percentage protractor.

Binary fractions of a turn are also used. Sailors have traditionally divided a turn into 32 compass points. The binary degree, also known as the binary radian (or brad), is ¹⁄₂₅₆ turn. The binary degree is used in computing so that an angle can be represented to the maximum possible precision in a single byte. Other measures of angle used in computing may be based on dividing one whole turn into 2ⁿ equal parts for other values of n.
