Lyle Pearce Lovett (born November 1, 1957) is an American country singer-songwriter and actor. Active since 1980, he has recorded thirteen albums and released 25 singles to date, including his highest entry, the number 10 chart hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, "Cowboy Man". Lovett has won four Grammy Awards, including Best Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Album. It's Not Big It's Large was released in 2007, where it debuted and peaked at number 2 on the Top Country Albums chart. A new studio album, Natural Forces, was released on October 20, 2009 by Lost Highway Records. The last studio album on his Curb Records contract, Release Me, was released in February 2012.
Lovett was born in Houston, Texas, when his family lived in the nearby community of Klein. He is the son of William Pearce and Bernell Louise (née Klein) Lovett, a marketing executive and training specialist, respectively. He was raised in the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. Lovett attended Texas A&M University, where he received Bachelor of Arts degrees in both German and Journalism in 1980. It is a common misconception that Lyle and Robert Earl Keen were roommates at A&M. They were not. However, they lived near each other in College Station, became good friends, and wrote "The Front Porch Song" together, which both went on to record.
Francine Reed (born July 11, 1947, Pembroke Township, Illinois) is an American blues singer, solo artist, and regular singing partner of Lyle Lovett since the 1980s and member of Lovett's Large Band. Reed has also recorded duets with Willie Nelson and Delbert McClinton and others.
Reed sang at church services in her youth and her music was inspired and influenced by her gospel-singing father. She is the sister of jazz singer Margo Reed.
In Phoenix, Arizona, Francine Reed appeared with Miles Davis, Stanley Jordan, Smokey Robinson, Etta James, and The Crusaders. In 1985, she began recording and touring with Lyle Lovett and His Large Band. Reed has also appeared on recordings by Delbert McClinton, Willie Nelson and Roy Orbison. After she relocated to Georgia in the 1990s, she released her first solo album, I Want You to Love Me. Reed has received the W. C. Handy Artist of the Year and Song of the Year nominations. (The W. C. Handy awards were renamed the Blues Music Awards in 2006). Reed was inducted into the Arizona Blues Hall of Fame in 1997.
John William "Johnny" Carson (October 23, 1925 – January 23, 2005) was an American television host, comedian, writer, producer, actor, and musician, best known for his thirty years as host of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson (1962–1992). Carson received six Emmy Awards, the Governor's Award, and a 1985 Peabody Award. He was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 1987. Johnny Carson was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1992 and received a Kennedy Center Honor in 1993.
Although his show was already successful by the end of the 1960s, during the 1970s Carson became an American icon and remained so even after his retirement in 1992. He adopted a casual, conversational approach with extensive interaction with guests, an approach pioneered by Arthur Godfrey and previous Tonight Show hosts Steve Allen and Jack Paar. Former late-night host and friend, David Letterman, cited Carson's influence.

These two so wowed Carson & Co that they were asked back just weeks after their debut. This time they got to perform two numbers, "Here I Am" and "She's Hot To Go". Francine wore a pretty dress that showed off her nice arms.
Music video by Lyle Lovett performing She's Already Made Up Her Mind. (C) 1992 Curb Records Inc. / MCA Records Inc.
We used 2 cameras and an empty Red Rocks Amphitheater for the background on the morning of June 20, 1991. Lyle Lovett recorded this song live for ABC's In Concert series honoring the Grateful Dead. I was setting up for a wide shot when Lyle asked me politely on the side if I could get his girlfriend into the picture. I thought this was very sweet and did the best I could to discreetly include her in the background. Within a few months of this video Lyle was dating Julia Roberts. I've wondered if these shots with his young girlfriend in them affected the situation.

And the boys from North Dakota; They drink whiskey for their fun. And the cowboys down in Texas; They polish up their guns. And they look across the border To learn the ways of love... If you love me, say, "I love you". If you love me say, "I do". If you love me, say, "I love you". If you love me, say, "I do". And you can say, "I love you" And you can say, "I do" So I drank myself some whiskey. And I dreamed I was a cowboy. And I rode across the border. If you love me, say, "I love you". If you love me take my hand. If you love me, say, "I love you". If you love me take my hand. And you can say, "I love you", And you can have my hand. I remember in the morning waking up With your arms around my head. You told me, "You can sleep forever And I'll still hold y...

I've never been lucky
At picking up women
But this life that I live
Is not one that I choose
She was a waitress
With hair blond and curly
With a pretty black dress
And those Japanese shoes
Man I need to impress her
'Cause I'd like to undress her
I need a song about Sonja
When I'm singing tonight
She looked so pretty
As she poured my coffee
But she had her eye
On my freind at the bar
And I watched her watch him
And I watched her thinking
I wish her eye was on me
Man I need to impress her
'Cause I'd like to undress her
I need a song about Sonja
When I'm singing tonight
And if I could sing her
A tender love ballad
I'd hope that the audience might sing along
But I can't find the right way
To tell her my feelings
And still make the words rhyme with Sonja
No I've never been lucky
At picking up women
But this life that I live
Is not one that I choose
She was a waitress
Now she's gone forever
And I'm stuck with this song
That I never will use
Man you need to impress her
If you want to undress her
Sing a song about Sonja
When you're singing tonight
Sing a song about Sonja
