On our 08:00 am Sanctuary Cruises whale tour, just outside the harbor in Moss Landing, two kayakers on a tandam kayak were almost crushed to death by a massive, near full-size humpback whale. We stopped to see a large aggregation of humpbacks feeding and carrying on with random acts of hijinks. There were also a lot of kayakers right in the middle of it all. Humpbacks were coming up next to and in the middle of many kayakers. It was amusing. It's all fun and games until someone gets jumped on. The next thing we knew, this thing launched right on top of these two kayakers. That was heavy. The video was shot by Sanctuary Cruises passenger Larry Plants.

In this video I look at a bizarre part of Islam's creation myth within Islam that has been successfully swept under the carpet in recent generations by Muslim sheikhs to avoid facing embarrassment and awkward questions on why this was such a commonly held belief in Islam among the most reputable scholars until very recently.
I look at what the biggest exegetes (mufassireen of the Quran) have to say about verse 68:1 of the Quran and ask why Muslims always insist that Muslims with doubts should speak to a scholar. I argue here if the best scholars got the very basics of their understanding of reality completely wrong, then something is likely to be wrong with the texts they dedicated their lives studying.

Whale (origin Old English hwæl) is the common name for various marine mammals of the order Cetacea. The term whale sometimes refers to all cetaceans, but more often it excludes dolphins and porpoises, which belong to suborder Odontoceti (toothed whales). This suborder also includes the sperm whale, killer whale, pilot whale, and beluga whale. The other Cetacean suborder Mysticeti (baleen whales) are filter feeders that eat small organisms caught by straining seawater through a comblike structure found in the mouth called baleen. This suborder includes the blue whale, the humpback whale, the bowhead whale and the minke whale. All Cetacea have forelimbs modified as fins, a tail with horizontal flukes, and nasal openings (blowholes) on top of the head.
Whales range in size from the blue whale, the largest animal known ever to have existed at 30 m (98 ft) and 180 tonnes (180 long tons; 200 short tons), to various pygmy species, such as the pygmy sperm whale at 3.5 m (11 ft).
Whales collectively inhabit all the world's oceans and number in the millions, with annual population growth rate estimates for various species ranging from 3% to 13%. For centuries, whales have been hunted for meat and as a source of raw materials. By the middle of the 20th century, however, industrial whaling had left many species seriously endangered, leading to the end of whaling in all but a few countries.

In this video I look at a bizarre part of Islam's creation myth within Islam that has been successfully swept under the carpet in recent generations by Muslim sheikhs to avoid facing embarrassment and awkward questions on why this was such a commonly held belief in Islam among the most reputable scholars until very recently. I look at what the biggest exegetes (mufassireen of the Quran) have to say about verse 68:1 of the Quran and ask why Muslims always insist that Muslims with doubts should speak to a scholar. I argue here if the best scholars got the very basics of their understanding of reality completely wrong, then something is likely to be wrong with the texts they dedicated their lives studying. Subscribe to ITN News: http://bit.ly/itnytsub A camera captured the moment a sperm whale carcass, which washed up in the Faroe Islands, exploded. The clip, which was shown of Faroese Television, has since gone viral, racking up millions of hits on YouTube alone. The dead whale had been lying on the beach for two days, after getting stuck in the waters between two islands, when marine biologist Bjarni Mikkelsen was sent to cut it open. As he made incisions in the whale's side the carcass exploded due to a build up of methane gas from the decomposition creating a loud sound and releasing a pungent smell. Humpback Whale Breaches on Top of Kayakers
On our 08:00 am Sanctuary Cruises whale tour, just outside the harbor in Moss Landing, two kayakers on a tandam kayak were almost crushed to death by a massive, near full-size humpback whale. We stopped to see a large aggregation of humpbacks feeding and carrying on with random acts of hijinks. There were also a lot of kayakers right in the middle of it all. Humpbacks were coming up next to and in the middle of many kayakers. It was amusing. It's all fun and games until someone gets jumped on. The next thing we knew, this thing launched right on top of these two kayakers. That was heavy. The video was shot by Sanctuary Cruises passenger Larry Plants. Exploding sperm whale carcass caught on camera in the Faroe Islands
Subscribe to ITN News: http://bit.ly/itnytsub A camera captured the moment a sperm whale carcass, which washed up in the Faroe Islands, exploded. The clip, which was shown of Faroese Television, has since gone viral, racking up millions of hits on YouTube alone. The dead whale had been lying on the beach for two days, after getting stuck in the waters between two islands, when marine biologist Bjarni Mikkelsen was sent to cut it open. As he made incisions in the whale's side the carcass exploded due to a build up of methane gas from the decomposition creating a loud sound and releasing a pungent smell. Rescue of an Orca Whale Stranded Along Canadian Shore

"She cried often, which tore at our hearts, but as the tide came up there were many cheers as this whale was finally free," said in a Facebook post from the group The Cetacean Lab. Early Wednesday morning, the group received a call from a colleague about the beached orca, which was stuck on some rocks at low tide. "We decided the best thing to do would be to keep her cool, that meant to put water on her body and we used blankets and sheets," said Hermann Meuter, a co-founder of Cetacean Lab. "It was the only thing we could do." Meuter said they could see the orca's behaviour change as they began to help her. CBC News 2015 -

On our 08:00 am Sanctuary Cruises whale tour, just outside the harbor in Moss Landing, two kayakers on a tandam kayak were almost crushed to death by a massive, near full-size humpback whale. We stopped to see a large aggregation of humpbacks feeding and carrying on with random acts of hijinks. There were also a lot of kayakers right in the middle of it all. Humpbacks were coming up next to and in the middle of many kayakers. It was amusing. It's all fun and games until someone gets jumped on. The next thing we knew, this thing launched right on top of these two kayakers. That was heavy. The video was shot by Sanctuary Cruises passenger Larry Plants.

In this video I look at a bizarre part of Islam's creation myth within Islam that has been successfully swept under the carpet in recent generations by Muslim sheikhs to avoid facing embarrassment and awkward questions on why this was such a commonly held belief in Islam among the most reputable scholars until very recently.
I look at what the biggest exegetes (mufassireen of the Quran) have to say about verse 68:1 of the Quran and ask why Muslims always insist that Muslims with doubts should speak to a scholar. I argue here if the best scholars got the very basics of their understanding of reality completely wrong, then something is likely to be wrong with the texts they dedicated their lives studying.

In this video I look at a bizarre part of Islam's creation myth within Islam that has been successfully swept under the carpet in recent generations by Muslim sheikhs to avoid facing embarrassment and awkward questions on why this was such a commonly held belief in Islam among the most reputable scholars until very recently.
I look at what the biggest exegetes (mufassireen of the Quran) have to say about verse 68:1 of the Quran and ask why Muslims always insist that Muslims with doubts should speak to a scholar. I argue here if the best scholars got the very basics of their understanding of reality completely wrong, then something is likely to be wrong with the texts they dedicated their lives studying.

A camera captured the moment a sperm whale carcass, which washed up in the Faroe Islands, exploded. The clip, which was shown of Faroese Television, has since gone viral, racking up millions of hits on YouTube alone. The dead whale had been lying on the beach for two days, after getting stuck in the waters between two islands, when marine biologist Bjarni Mikkelsen was sent to cut it open. As he made incisions in the whale's side the carcass exploded due to a build up of methane gas from the decomposition creating a loud sound and releasing a pungent smell. It is reported that a local museum will collect the skelton and put it on display. Report by Laurie Blake.

The enormous mammal, which weighs 10 tonnes, was washed up on the beach of Amanzimtoti, a small coastal town south of the city of Durban, South Africa in early August. Waste management services arrived at the blood-stained beach to discover dozens of locals hacking into the humpback whale’s putrid body with machetes. The whale was left to rot on the beach, instead of towing it into the water or burying it in the sand.

An orca that was stranded on some rocks was kept alive for eight hours by a dedicated team of whale researchers and volunteers on the North Coast of B.C.
"She cried often, which tore at our hearts, but as the tide came up there were many cheers as this whale was finally free," said in a Facebook post from the group The Cetacean Lab.
Early Wednesday morning, the group received a call from a colleague about the beached orca, which was stuck on some rocks at low tide.
"We decided the best thing to do would be to keep her cool, that meant to put water on her body and we used blankets and sheets," said Hermann Meuter, a co-founder of Cetacean Lab.
"It was the only thing we could do."
Meuter said they could see the orca's behaviour change as they began to help her.

We swam with the sharks. Literally. No protective cage.
