In 1986 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, a safety test on a nuclear reactor led to what is considered the worst nuclear disaster in history.
The most recent portrayal of the impact of the Chernobyl explosion, the Chernobyl radiation levels, and the radiation poisoning people experienced can be seen on HBO’s “Chernobyl.”
The Chernobyl disaster exposed people to high doses of radiation in a short period of time, or acute radiation syndrome, and the health effects are painful and often life-threatening.
Some of the treatments for radiation poisoning that we had back in Chernobyl’s day were palliative: treating the symptoms and supporting vital functions as your body either recovered or didn’t. For example, impaired bone function due to radiation means fewer blood cells and decreased immunity, so treatment for that includes blood transfusions and antibiotics to fight off any potential infection.
So, if a nuclear disaster like Chernobyl were to happen again, how would we treat the radiation poisoning today? There might be some solutions to help, learn more on this episode of Elements.

• Yang is accused of trying to kill his black roommate, Juwan Royal, by slowly poisoning him with thallium
Yukai Yang, a former chemistry student at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania who is accused of slowly poisoning his roommate, was ordered held without bail on Friday over allegations he sought to flee to his native China by orchestrating his own deportation to avoid prosecution.
Yang must remain in Northampton County Jail until his criminal charges are resolved, a judge ruled at a hearing, the Allentown Morning Call reported.
Yang, a 23-year-old chemistry major and Chinese national, was charged last month with the attempted murder of his roommate, allegedly slipping the colourless, odourless chemical thallium into his food and drink.
Prosecutors are investigating whether Yang also tried to poison a second Lehigh student.
Last week, prosecutors said they foiled an attempt by Yang to leave the US by making bail and cooperating with immigration agents.
“Mr Yang thought that because he is a foreign national, now here illegally in that his student visa has been revoked, that he could post bail, waive his right to a deportation hearing and abscond,” District Attorney John Morganelli said in a statement. “That will not happen.”
On Friday, Yang’s defence team argued that he was not a flight risk and was entitled to bail, even if his immigration status could see him removed from the United States. Outside court, defence lawyer Janet Jackson declined to comment on the case, beyond a brief statement.
“My client intends to fight these charges, completely intends to fight these charges,” she said. “And I’m not as interested in trying this case in the press as the commonwealth seems to be.”
Yang had originally been being held pending US$200,000 bail. But a day after his arraignment, Yang’s family posted the money, leading Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to take Yang into custody to deport him.
Prosecutors allege Yang intended to waive challenges to his removal, allowing him to immediately be sent to China. That had prosecutors seeking to have Yang held without bail.
Judge Stephen Baratta said in agreeing to the request to revoke bail that it was the only way to make sure he is not deported, otherwise “it’s a done deal. He’s out of here if I don’t do anything.”
Yang was initially charged this spring with vandalism and ethnic intimidation after the roommate, Juwan Royal, who is black, found racist graffiti in the room. Royal has since graduated, but continues to suffer effects of the poisoning, authorities said. The two had lived together for several years without incident, authorities said, adding that Yang’s motives remain unclear.
Assistant District Attorney Abraham Kassis told the Morning Call that authorities continued to investigate to see if there is a second victim, but would not comment further.
Royal experienced progressively worse symptoms over the course of several months, including dizziness, shaking and vomiting, and his blood tested positive for thallium.

Blood+
Blood+, pronounced as "Blood Plus", is an anime series produced by Production I.G and Aniplex and directed by Junichi Fujisaku. The series premiered in Japan on Sony's anime satellite channel, Animax, as well as on terrestrial networks such as MBS, TBS, and RKB on October 8, 2005. The final episode aired on September 23, 2006. Persistence of Time
Persistence of Time is the fifth studio album by the American thrash metal band Anthrax. It was released on August 21, 1990 through Megaforce Worldwide/Island Records and was nominated in 1991 for a Grammy Award in the Best Metal Performance category.
The album included the singles, "Got the Time" (a Joe Jackson cover) and "In My World" (which was performed by the band on the Married... with Children episode, "My Dinner with Anthrax"). Album information
Anthrax returned to the studio in the fall of 1989 with Mark Dodson (who produced the previous album, State of Euphoria) to start work on their fifth album. Recording of the album was difficult, with a large structure fire causing the band to lose more than $100,000 worth of gear and their rehearsal studio on 24 January 1990. Following this disaster, the band moved to a different studio in late February of that year to finish work on the album.

Vs. (Pearl Jam album)
Vs. is the second studio album by the American rock band Pearl Jam, released on October 19, 1993 through Epic Records. After a relentless touring schedule in support of their 1991 debut album Ten, Pearl Jam headed into the studio in early 1993 facing the challenge of following up the commercial success of its debut. It was also the band's first album with drummer Dave Abbruzzese, who had joined the band in August 1991 and toured for the album Ten. Rehearsals for Vs. began in February 1993 at Potatohead Studio in Seattle, Washington. The band then moved to The Site in Nicasio, California in March 1993 to begin recording. Abbruzzese called the tranquil recording site "paradise" while lead vocalist Eddie Vedder said, "I fucking hate it here...I've had a hard time...How do you make a rock record here?"

In 1986 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, a safety test on a nuclear reactor led to what is considered the worst nuclear disaster in history.
The most recent portrayal of the impact of the Chernobyl explosion, the Chernobyl radiation levels, and the radiation poisoning people experienced can be seen on HBO’s “Chernobyl.”
The Chernobyl disaster exposed people to high doses of radiation in a short period of time, or acute radiation syndrome, and the health effects are painful and often life-threatening.
Some of the treatments for radiation poisoning that we had back in Chernobyl’s day were palliative: treating the symptoms and supporting vital functions as your body either recovered or didn’t. For example, impaired bone function due to radiation means fewer blood cells and decreased immunity, so treatment for that includes blood transfusions and antibiotics to fight off any potential infection.

• Yang is accused of trying to kill his black roommate, Juwan Royal, by slowly poisoning him with thallium
Yukai Yang, a former chemistry student at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania who is accused of slowly poisoning his roommate, was ordered held without bail on Friday over allegations he sought to flee to his native China by orchestrating his own deportation to avoid prosecution.
Yang must remain in Northampton County Jail until his criminal charges are resolved, a judge ruled at a hearing, the Allentown Morning Call reported.
Yang, a 23-year-old chemistry major and Chinese national, was charged last month with the attempted murder of his roommate, allegedly slipping the colourless, odourless chemical thallium into his food and drink.
Prosecutors are investigating whether Yang also tried to poison a second Lehigh student.
Last week, prosecutors said they foiled an attempt by Yang to leave the US by making bail and cooperating with immigration agents.
“Mr Yang thought that because he is a foreign national, now here illegally in that his student visa has been revoked, that he could post bail, waive his right to a deportation hearing and abscond,” District Attorney John Morganelli said in a statement. “That will not happen.”
On Friday, Yang’s defence team argued that he was not a flight risk and was entitled to bail, even if his immigration status could see him removed from the United States. Outside court, defence lawyer Janet Jackson declined to comment on the case, beyond a brief statement.
“My client intends to fight these charges, completely intends to fight these charges,” she said. “And I’m not as interested in trying this case in the press as the commonwealth seems to be.”
Yang had originally been being held pending US$200,000 bail. But a day after his arraignment, Yang’s family posted the money, leading Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to take Yang into custody to deport him.
Prosecutors allege Yang intended to waive challenges to his removal, allowing him to immediately be sent to China. That had prosecutors seeking to have Yang held without bail.
Judge Stephen Baratta said in agreeing to the request to revoke bail that it was the only way to make sure he is not deported, otherwise “it’s a done deal. He’s out of here if I don’t do anything.”
Yang was initially charged this spring with vandalism and ethnic intimidation after the roommate, Juwan Royal, who is black, found racist graffiti in the room. Royal has since graduated, but continues to suffer effects of the poisoning, authorities said. The two had lived together for several years without incident, authorities said, adding that Yang’s motives remain unclear.
Assistant District Attorney Abraham Kassis told the Morning Call that authorities continued to investigate to see if there is a second victim, but would not comment further.
Royal experienced progressively worse symptoms over the course of several months, including dizziness, shaking and vomiting, and his blood tested positive for thallium.

Yes this is real. You can kill senpai by poisoning his bento. You can also add sedative, emetic poision ect to his meal. So far it works with males but not females. I tried the sports club the other day it didn't work but it worked today XD. Veggie Gamer actually discovered this in his live stream so shout out to him XD.

A Sacramento woman has been hospitalized after using a skin cream from Mexico that was tainted with methylmercury, county officials said. The 47-year-old woman came to a hospital with high levels of mercury in her blood. Heath officials said she showed up at the emergency room with numbness in her hands and face, trouble walking and slurred speech, which got worse over several weeks. In 1986 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, a safety test on a nuclear reactor led to what is considered the worst nuclear disaster in history.
The most recent portrayal of the impact of the Chernobyl explosion, the Chernobyl radiation levels, and the radiation poisoning people experienced can be seen on HBO’s “Chernobyl.”
The Chernobyl disaster exposed people to high doses of radiation in a short period of time, or acute radiation syndrome, and the health effects are painful and often life-threatening.
Some of the treatments for radiation poisoning that we had back in Chernobyl’s day were palliative: treating the symptoms and supporting vital functions as your body either recovered or didn’t. For example, impaired bone function due to radiation means fewer blood cells and decreased immunity, so treatment for that includes blood transfusions and antibiotics to fight off any potential infection.
So, if a nuclear disaster like Chernobyl were to happen again, how would we treat the radiation poisoning today? There might be some solutions to help, learn more on this episode of Elements.

Yukai Yang, a former chemistry student at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania who is accused of slowly poisoning his roommate, was ordered held without bail on Friday over allegations he sought to flee to his native China by orchestrating his own deportation to avoid prosecution.
Yang must remain in Northampton County Jail until his criminal charges are resolved, a judge ruled at a hearing, the Allentown Morning Call reported.
Yang, a 23-year-old chemistry major and Chinese national, was charged last month with the attempted murder of his roommate, allegedly slipping the colourless, odourless chemical thallium into his food and drink.
Prosecutors are investigating whether Yang also tried to poison a second Lehigh student.
Last week, prosecutors said they foiled an attempt by Yang to leave the US by making bail and cooperating with immigration agents.
“Mr Yang thought that because he is a foreign national, now here illegally in that his student visa has been revoked, that he could post bail, waive his right to a deportation hearing and abscond,” District Attorney John Morganelli said in a statement. “That will not happen.”
On Friday, Yang’s defence team argued that he was not a flight risk and was entitled to bail, even if his immigration status could see him removed from the United States. Outside court, defence lawyer Janet Jackson declined to comment on the case, beyond a brief statement.
“My client intends to fight these charges, completely intends to fight these charges,” she said. “And I’m not as interested in trying this case in the press as the commonwealth seems to be.”
Yang had originally been being held pending US$200,000 bail. But a day after his arraignment, Yang’s family posted the money, leading Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to take Yang into custody to deport him.
Prosecutors allege Yang intended to waive challenges to his removal, allowing him to immediately be sent to China. That had prosecutors seeking to have Yang held without bail.
Judge Stephen Baratta said in agreeing to the request to revoke bail that it was the only way to make sure he is not deported, otherwise “it’s a done deal. He’s out of here if I don’t do anything.”
Yang was initially charged this spring with vandalism and ethnic intimidation after the roommate, Juwan Royal, who is black, found racist graffiti in the room. Royal has since graduated, but continues to suffer effects of the poisoning, authorities said. The two had lived together for several years without incident, authorities said, adding that Yang’s motives remain unclear.
Assistant District Attorney Abraham Kassis told the Morning Call that authorities continued to investigate to see if there is a second victim, but would not comment further.
Royal experienced progressively worse symptoms over the course of several months, including dizziness, shaking and vomiting, and his blood tested positive for thallium.

Blood+
Blood+, pronounced as "Blood Plus", is an anime series produced by Production I.G and Aniplex and directed by Junichi Fujisaku. The series premiered in Japan on Sony's anime satellite channel, Animax, as well as on terrestrial networks such as MBS, TBS, and RKB on October 8, 2005. The final episode aired on September 23, 2006. Blood+ is licensed for international distribution in several regions through Sony Pictures' international arm, Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI).
Blood+ was inspired by the 2000 anime film Blood: The Last Vampire; however, there are only a few allusions and basic elements from the film. Fujisaku has been involved with both works, including acting as the director for Blood+ and writing the novelization of Blood: The Last Vampire.
Plot
The series is initially set in September 2005 Okinawa City (Koza) on Okinawa Island near the US Kadena Air Base. Over the course of the series, Saya travels across the world, from Japan to Vietnam, Russia, France and finally the US.
