Kyoto (京都市, Kyōto-shi, pronounced [kʲjoːꜜto.ɕi]; UK /kɪˈoʊtoʊ/, US /kiˈoʊ-/, or /ˈkjoʊ-/) is a city located in the central part of the island of Honshu, Japan. It has a population close to 1.5 million. Formerly the Imperial capital of Japan for more than one thousand years, it is now the capital city of Kyoto Prefecture located in the Kansai region, as well as a major part of the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe metropolitan area. Kyoto is also known as the thousand-year capital.
In Japanese, the city has been called Kyō (京), Miyako (都), or Kyō no Miyako (京の都). In the 11th century, the city was renamed Kyoto ("capital city"), after the Chinese word for capital city, jingdu (京都). After the city of Edo was renamed Tokyo (meaning "Eastern Capital") in 1868, and the seat of the Emperor was transferred there, Kyoto was known for a short time as Saikyō (西京, meaning "Western Capital").
Obsolete spellings for the city's name include Kioto and Meaco. Another term commonly used to refer to the city in the pre-modern period was Keishi (京師), meaning "metropolis" or "capital".
Anthony Frank "Tony" Hawk (born May 12, 1968), nicknamed "The Birdman", is an American former professional skateboarder and actor. Hawk is well known for completing the first documented 900 and for his licensed video game titles, published by Activision. He is widely considered to be one of the most successful and influential pioneers of modern vertical skateboarding.
In 2002, he created the "Boom Boom HuckJam", an extreme sports exhibition and tour that was launched in Las Vegas. Throughout his career, Hawk has made numerous appearances in films, other media, and his own series of video games. He has also been involved in various philanthropic activities, including his own Tony Hawk Foundation that helps to build skateparks in underprivileged areas. In 2014, Hawk was labeled as one of the "Most influential skateboarders of all-time" by FoxWeekly.
Tony Hawk was born on May 12, 1968 in Carlsbad, California, to Nancy and Frank Peter Rupert Hawk, and was raised in San Diego, California. When Hawk was young, he was described as being "hyperactive," and his mother says that he was "so hard on himself and expected himself to do so many things." One time, Hawk struck out in baseball and was so distraught that he hid in a ravine and had to be "physically coaxed out" by his father. His frustration with himself was so harsh that his parents had him psychologically evaluated at school. The results were that Tony was "gifted," he tested with an I.Q. of 144, and school advisers recommended placing him in advanced classes. Hawk attended Jean Farb Middle School from 1980 to 1981, and eventually returned for the show, Homecoming with Rick Reilly, where he set up a ramp and did a demonstration.
The Cure are an English rock band formed in Crawley, West Sussex, in 1976. The band has experienced several line-up changes, with vocalist, guitarist and principal songwriter Robert Smith being the only constant member. The Cure first began releasing music in the late 1970's with their debut album Three Imaginary Boys; this, along with several early singles, placed the band as part of the post-punk and new wave movements that had sprung up in the wake of the punk rock revolution in the United Kingdom. During the early 1980's, the band's increasingly dark and tormented music was a staple of the emerging gothic rock genre.
After the release of 1982's Pornography, the band's future was uncertain and Smith was keen to move past the gloomy reputation his band had acquired. With the single "Let's Go to Bed" released the same year, Smith began to place a pop sensibility into the band's music and their popularity increased as the decade wore on, with songs like "Just Like Heaven", "Lovesong" and "Friday I'm in Love". The band is estimated to have sold 27 million albums as of 2004 and have released thirteen studio albums, ten EPs and over thirty singles during their career.
Kyoto Blue: Kyoto Prayer from "Dream Collection" (Danse Macabre 1992)
People said a popular way to get around Kyoto is by bicycle. Well, I think cycling is THE BEST WAY to explore this city !! On a bike, you can’t help but feel completely alive in the moment, you experience and interact with a place in an immediate way. It’s a unique opportunity to experience a city in a way that will leave you with a deeper sensory impression, like you can hear the different languages that are spoken in different neighborhoods, you can smell restaurants before you see them, and of course you can enjoy the city and get where no sightseeing bus/train can go. So, this time I visit Kyoto Imperial Palace Park, then do the Friday prayer at Kyoto Islamic Cultural Center, wheeling around Higashiyama, enjoying Kiyomizu-dera, and going back through the Pontocho area. DAY 01: https...
On April 3rd, a grand sumo tournament took place in Kyoto. Kyoto has been waiting for six years for this exciting event to come to their city. Typically, sumo tournaments are held in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka. This rare event attracted a lot of excited people who made sure they didn't miss a beat. The day started with bouts between the trainee Rikishis (the correct term for sumo wrestlers). In the afternoon, there were bouts between the professional wrestlers. Seeing these larger than life Rikishi (correct term for sumo wrestlers) in the flesh was amazing. People lined up to take photos with the Rikishi, they were like celebrities. According to the National Japanese Sumo Association, The first sumo matches were a form of ritual dedicated to the gods with prayers of for a bountif...

Kyoto, Japan, has long been considered one of the country’s most beautiful cities. Once the capital of the nation, Kyoto is now an ultra-modern haven that retains a great deal of its ancient charm. To see some of this long-established glamour, make your way to Kyoto Tower. Just two miles east of the tower is Gion, an entertainment quarter and home to many of Kyoto’s famous geishas. As you walk east through Gion, you’ll find even more old architecture, including several Ryokan, or traditional Japanese inns. Many date back to the Edo period, which ranged from 1603 to 1868. During your Kyoto tour, take a rickshaw ride to the Sannen-zaka and Ninen-zaka districts, where cars are prohibited and traditional teahouses and temples adorn the nearby landscape. Kyoto is known as “The City of Ten Th...

Kyoto, Japan Travel Guide 2016 - Tourism & Vacations in Kyoto, Japan - Kyoto, Japan Trip 2016 Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=World1Tube Kyōto (京都) was the capital of Japan for over a millennium, and carries a reputation as its most beautiful city. However, visitors may be surprised by how much work they will have to do to see Kyoto's beautiful side. Most first impressions of the city will be of the urban sprawl of central Kyoto, around the ultra-modern glass-and-steel train station, which is itself an example of a city steeped in tradition colliding with the modern world. Nonetheless, the persistent visitor will soon discover Kyoto's hidden beauty in the temples and parks which ring the city center, and find that the city has much...

We walked the entire way up the mountain where the Inari shrine was in Kyoto, Japan. It took us 4 hours total to go up and then get all the way back down. We started a bit later in the day and did not realize how late it got on us while we were exploring the mountain. A gorgeous place and worth going all the way to the top. Bring tennis shoes, tshirt and maybe even some shorts. You are going to walk, climb and probably trip over things all the way up like I did. It was about 60 flights of stairs, or at least that is what my watch told me based on my stride/stair climbing abilities. A must visit if you happen to be in Kyoto. Try to go early to avoid the huge crowds. Comment, like and Subscribe! Follow me on: Twitter https://twitter.com/latinvixen Facebook https://www.facebook.com/LVyout...

Life is a mystery, everyone must stand alone
I hear you call my name
And it feels like home
When you call my name it's like a little prayer
I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there
In the midnight hour I can feel your power
Just like a prayer you know I'll take you there
I hear your voice, it's like an angel sighing
I have no choice, I hear your voice
Feels like flying
I close my eyes, oh God I think I'm falling
Out of the sky, I close my eyes
Heaven help me
When you call my name it's like a little prayer
I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there
In the midnight hour I can feel your power
Just like a prayer you know I'll take you there
Like a child you whisper softly to me
You're in control just like a child
Now I'm dancing
It's like a dream, no end and no beginning
You're here with me, it's like a dream
Let the choir sing
When you call my name it's like a little prayer
I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there
In the midnight hour I can feel your power
Just like a prayer you know I'll take you there
Life is a mystery, everyone must stand alone
I hear you call my name
And it feels like home
Just like a prayer, your voice can take me there
Just like a muse to me
You are a mystery
Just like a dream, you are not what you seem
Just like prayer
No choice
Your voice can take me there
Just like a prayer
I'll take you there
It's like a dream to me
Just like a prayer
I'll take you there
