Balls Channel focuses on premium sports television and features the biggest sporting events in the world. It is the official Philippine TV carrier of the FIFA World Cup among it's other notable programs: UFC, UEFA Champions League, European Tour (golf), FIVB Volleyball, ATP & the US Open (Tennis).
The Acid House was recently commissioned for the re-imaging of the on-air look and the creation of a new channel ident. The client wanted something that addresses the 6 pillars of the channel: Soccer, Mixed Martial Arts, Basketball, Golf, Tennis & Volleyball.
Here is the 60s channel ident that we made for them.

Well where do I begin?
Ahh, the email, of course. An inquiry for Kathryn Bernardo’s 18th birthday. Now I had to be sure that the email was legit and that the event coordinator, Spark Inc. and I are talking about the same person. I did send an sms message to my wife to, pardon my ignorance, ask who Kathryn Bernardo was. See, I don’t watch tv that much and it’s a real shame that my 6 year old niece in Hawaii knows more about Pinoy soap operas than I do (she happens to be a huge fan of Chichay from the just concluded blockbuster of a soap Got to Believe and unfortunately I failed to get her a selfie of myself with Kathryn for her to brag to all her TFC loving friends in Punahou.)
Here’s one thing I know, Kathryn Bernardo is Philippines next big thing. The kid is a great actress and her career in television has shown potential that may surpass, if not at least equal, that of Judy Ann’s and Claudine’s. We were very excited to be a part of her debut. This, after all, was our first (technically,) celebrity event. I was actually so eager to get things going and even asked if it is possible to keep the media out of Kathryn Bernardo’s 18th birthday. You know, to keep it personal. Turns out, it’s gonna be an ABS-CBN special.
Come Kathryn Bernardo’s 18th birthday celebration, I found myself overwhelmed by two things: the blinding bright lights and the number of personnel/marshalls the network needs to make a television special. I’ll never forget muscling my way through a group of cameramen just to get the perfect angle. It was the closest thing to me being a photojournalist really except I had a camcorder. My all access I.D. barely worked. Wrestling aside, Kathryn looked stunning in her Francis Libiran gown. As expected, Blue Leaf Filipinas was filled with the Philippine’s finest stars complementing the phenomenal styling by Michael Ruiz. Perhaps like most people including the debutant herself, I was surprised to see Marian Rivera among the guests. She looked heartbreakingly beautiful like always. It was a lot of fun. I even found myself daydreaming about how it’d feel like to be an 18 year old girl with a debut that awesome surrounded with with all those free booze and beautiful people and the media. Then again, I bet I’m better off behind the camera. By the end of the night, I found my wife sulking in one corner of our holding room. Turns out she’s a huge G2B fan herself and she wanted her selfie with Kathryn. I told her that I still have some photos of Kathryn from Mark Nicdao and I can photoshop it with her face on it. The deal made her night. =)

In 2008, we undertook the amazing worldwide franchise which was Project Runway. It was my first time doing a reality television show and Fremantle Media was there making sure we would stick to the brand and identity of the show.
This was under Solar Entertainment, the production house being Unitel Productions, and post-production done at the Engine Room.
Being the director entailed me to hire the writing crew (Head writer Mihk Vergara, and writing team of Erwin Romulo, Ramon De Veyra, Yvette Tan), which led to all of us handpicking the host (Teresa Herrera), the mentor (Jojie Lloren), and the judges (Rajo Laurel and Apples Aberin). Together, we also scoured the country looking for the contestants -- holding extensive auditions in Manila and Cebu.
The show had 15 episodes and I am extremely proud of this because I was also supervising the sound design and mix of the show. I am very happy with hiring Diego Mapa to score the entire season, also using a lot of his Eggboy x Spazzkid stuff. I was deep into the post-production of the show -- being the online editor (or co-online editor) for every one of the episodes.
This was my blood, sweat, and tears for a year and a half of my life, and I attribute my weight gain of around 30 pounds due to stress eating while doing the post-production of this show.

Amina Aranaz-Alunan (Bag Designer/ Entrepreneur)
Amina Aranaz-Alunan, the style icon behind the Aranaz line of bags graduated with honors from Istituto Marangoni in Milan and established her business with a sound social philosophy: Aranaz bags aim to "de-ethnicize the ethnic" with the use of indigenous and eco-friendly materials sourced from the Philippines. Gang Badoy (Rock-Ed Founder)
In July 2005, former WTHR-NBC Eyewitness News in Indianapolis Desk Editor Gang Badoy founded Rock Ed Philippines, a "volunteer group that aims to rock society" through a series of alternative education projects. Rock Ed has used music, dance, graphic design, sports, literature, film, theater, cultural studies, and other alternative approaches to encourage involvement and critical thinking among the youth. Among the successful Rock Ed projectsare Rock Ed Radio (which aired its third to the last episode on October 21 via the radio station NU 107), Rock the Rehas, Rock the Riles, and RockBayan.
Just like her energy and enthusiasm, Gang's advocacy is also contagious. Gang is using her passion for music as an instrument of giving back. Music is one of the ways of expressing oneself; it is a means of voicing out so it is one of the perfect mediums to say something and stand up for a social cause. Gone are the days of apathy. Do what you love and do it while giving back.
Norman Black (Basketball Coach)
The Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles and their coach, Norman Black, proved to be the winning combination in the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 73 Senior Men's Basketball Division. On September 30, under Black's guidance, the Ateneo Blue Eagles bagged a three-peat record. Black, who was a coach in the Philippine Basketball Association before going collegiate, started the Eagles' winning streak in Season 71 when his team defeated their rival the De La Salle Green Archers in Game 2 of the 2008 finals series. The Ateneo Blue Eagles were poised for a historical three-peat in the UAAP. This was around mid-August. We knew that we had to feature him prepping up for this goal.
Carlos Celdran (Walking Man of Manila/ Performance Artist)
We probe into the forces that drive the man dubbed as the "modern-day Jose Rizal," Carlos Celdran. The performance artist, Manila walking tour guide, and activist has earned both cheers and jeers for his protest against the Church's meddling in the government's stand on Reproductive Health on September 30. The best-known advocate of the Reproductive Health Bill (RH Bill), Celdran was jailed after he stood in front of the altar during an ecumenical service at Manila Cathedral while holding a placard that read "Damaso" (referring to the abusive friar in Rizal's Noli Me Tangere) and said, "Stop getting involved in politics!"
We agree with Carlos. Times are changing fast and if we do not act quickly to show our concerns, nothing will be solved. Carlos Celdran shook the ground and made everyone notice an unheard or avoided voice. Sharing an opinion is caring about the present situation. To disagree with the Church doesn't mean you are morally wrong. It just goes to show that times are changing and that there are certain measures that can still be morally right for the good of society.
Quark Henares (Filmmaker/ Entrepreneur/ Band Member)
The spotlight is on filmmaker Quark Henares this week. At 29, after eight years in the industry, Quark now juggles many roles: director, writer, businessman, teacher, and lately, frontman for US-2 Evil-0. He joined the Philippine cinema industry at age 21 via his full-length sexy film debut, Gamitan. But, it was his second sexy film Keka that earned him the most praise from film critics, including Pulp Fiction director Quentin Tarantino in 2003.
When he's not making movies, Quark directs music videos and television commercials, writes for local publications, and lectures in various schools.

Television in the Philippines
Television in the Philippines was introduced in 1953. But even before that, during the late 1940s, a number of academic experiments had been done and replicated by Filipino engineers and students.
From 1975 to 1978, the Sinag Awards were given by the Philippine Academy for Television Arts and Sciences (PATAS). On the other hand, the Star Awards for Television is the oldest existing television awards in the country handed out annually by the Philippine Movie Press Club and are voted by the press.
History
The early years (1946-1959)
James Lindenberg, an American engineer dubbed as the "father of Philippine television," began assembling transmitters and established the Bolinao Electronics Corporation (BEC) on June 26, 1946. It was named after his wife's hometown of Bolinao, Pangasinan. Three years later, he was the first to apply for a license in Philippine Congress to establish a television station. After a year, on June 14, 1950, his request was granted. Due to the scarcity of raw materials and strict import control since 1948, he was compelled to branch into radio broadcasting instead.

Kathryn Chandria Manuel Bernardo (born 26 March 1996) is a Filipina actress. She is best known for her role as Mara in the primetime Filipino drama Mara Clara. Bernardo has been a contract artist of Star Magic and ABS-CBN since 2010 and most recently starred as Ana Bartolome in the 2011 drama film Way Back Home. She also played the protagonist Mikay in the primetime series Princess and I. Known as the "Teen Queen" of Philippine showbiz, FHM UK placed her on "The Top 10 Hottest Nations in the World" list, representing the country at fifth place alongside French-Filipina actress Solenn Heussaff in July 2014. She ranked #80 at TC Candler's Most Beautiful Faces 2016.

Kathryn Chandria Manuel Bernardo was born on 26 March 1996 in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, Philippines. She is the youngest of four children and the daughter of Teodore C. Bernardo and Luzviminda M. Bernardo.
Education
Bernardo studied at OB Montessori Center Inc. before her acting debut in 2003. She was home schooled, and currently attends Enderun Colleges, Taguig, where she studies marketing.

Here Again
Here Again is an album by American singer Johnny Nash, released in 1986. The album features a minor comeback hit, with the late-1985 single "Rock Me Baby" reaching the Top-20 on the Swiss album charts. The follow-up single, "Baby You're Mine" was less successful.
With this album, Nash had hoped for a successful comeback, but it did not make a significant impact on the charts.

Happy Days
Happy Days is an American television sitcom that aired first-run from January 15, 1974, to September 24, 1984, on ABC. The show was originally based on a segment from ABC's Love, American Style titled Love and the Television Set, (later retitled Love and the Happy Days for syndication) featuring Ron Howard and three future cast members.
Created by Garry Marshall, the series presents an idealized vision of life in the mid-1950s to mid-1960s United States.
The series was produced by Miller-Milkis Productions (Miller-Milkis-Boyett Productions in later years) and Henderson Productions in association with Paramount Television. Happy Days was one of the highest-rated shows of the 1970s.

"Happy Days Are Here Again" is a song copyrighted in 1929 by Milton Ager (music) and Jack Yellen (lyrics) and published by EMI Robbins Catalog, Inc./Advanced Music Corp. The song was recorded by Leo Reisman and His Orchestra, with Lou Levin, vocal (November 1929), and was featured in the 1930 film Chasing Rainbows. The song concluded the picture, in what film historian Edwin Bradley described as a "pull-out-all-the-stops Technicolor finale, against a Great War Armistice show-within-a-show backdrop." This early example of 2-strip Technicolor footage was, along with another Technicolor sequence, later cut from the 1931 re-edited release of the otherwise black-and-white film, and is believed to have been lost in the 1967 MGM Vault 7 fire.
In popular culture
Today, the song is probably best remembered as the campaign song for Franklin Delano Roosevelt's successful 1932 presidential campaign. According to TIME magazine, it gained prominence after a spontaneous decision by Roosevelt's advisers to play it at the 1932 Democratic National Convention, and went on to become the Democratic Party's "unofficial theme song for years to come". The song is also associated with the Repeal of Prohibition, which occurred shortly after Roosevelt's election where there were signs saying "Happy days are beer again" and so on.

I did send an sms message to my wife to, pardon my ignorance, ask who Kathryn Bernardo was. See, I don’t watch tv that much and it’s a real shame that my 6 year old niece in Hawaii knows more about Pinoy soap operas than I do (she happens to be a huge fan of Chichay from the just concluded blockbuster of a soap Got to Believe and unfortunately I failed to get her a selfie of myself with Kathryn for her to brag to all her TFC loving friends in Punahou.) Here’s one thing I know, Kathryn Bernardo is Philippines next big thing. The kid is a great actress and her career in television has shown potential that may surpass, if not at least equal, that of Judy Ann’s and Claudine’s. We were very excited to be a part of her debut. This, after all, was our first (technically,) celebrity event. I was actually so eager to get things going and even asked if it is possible to keep the media out of Kathryn Bernardo’s 18th birthday. You know, to keep it personal. Turns out, it’s gonna be an ABS-CBN special. Come Kathryn Bernardo’s 18th birthday celebration, I found myself overwhelmed by two things: the blinding bright lights and the number of personnel/marshalls the network needs to make a television special. I’ll never forget muscling my way through a group of cameramen just to get the perfect angle. It was the closest thing to me being a photojournalist really except I had a camcorder. My all access I.D. barely worked. Wrestling aside, Kathryn looked stunning in her Francis Libiran gown. As expected, Blue Leaf Filipinas was filled with the Philippine’s finest stars complementing the phenomenal styling by Michael Ruiz. Perhaps like most people including the debutant herself, I was surprised to see Marian Rivera among the guests. She looked heartbreakingly beautiful like always. It was a lot of fun. I even found myself daydreaming about how it’d feel like to be an 18 year old girl with a debut that awesome surrounded with with all those free booze and beautiful people and the media. Then again, I bet I’m better off behind the camera. By the end of the night, I found my wife sulking in one corner of our holding room. Turns out she’s a huge G2B fan herself and she wanted her selfie with Kathryn. I told her that I still have some photos of Kathryn from Mark Nicdao and I can photoshop it with her face on it. In 2008, we undertook the amazing worldwide franchise which was Project Runway. It was my first time doing a reality television show and Fremantle Media was there making sure we would stick to the brand and identity of the show. This was under Solar Entertainment, the production house being Unitel Productions, and post-production done at the Engine Room. Being the director entailed me to hire the writing crew (Head writer Mihk Vergara, and writing team of Erwin Romulo, Ramon De Veyra, Yvette Tan), which led to all of us handpicking the host (Teresa Herrera), the mentor (Jojie Lloren), and the judges (Rajo Laurel and Apples Aberin). Together, we also scoured the country looking for the contestants -- holding extensive auditions in Manila and Cebu. The show had 15 episodes and I am extremely proud of this because I was also supervising the sound design and mix of the show. I am very happy with hiring Diego Mapa to score the entire season, also using a lot of his Eggboy x Spazzkid stuff. I was deep into the post-production of the show -- being the online editor (or co-online editor) for every one of the episodes. This was my blood, sweat, and tears for a year and a half of my life, and I attribute my weight gain of around 30 pounds due to stress eating while doing the post-production of this show. Well where do I begin?
Ahh, the email, of course. An inquiry for Kathryn Bernardo’s 18th birthday. Now I had to be sure that the email was legit and that the event coordinator, Spark Inc. and I are talking about the same person. I did send an sms message to my wife to, pardon my ignorance, ask who Kathryn Bernardo was. See, I don’t watch tv that much and it’s a real shame that my 6 year old niece in Hawaii knows more about Pinoy soap operas than I do (she happens to be a huge fan of Chichay from the just concluded blockbuster of a soap Got to Believe and unfortunately I failed to get her a selfie of myself with Kathryn for her to brag to all her TFC loving friends in Punahou.)
Here’s one thing I know, Kathryn Bernardo is Philippines next big thing. The kid is a great actress and her career in television has shown potential that may surpass, if not at least equal, that of Judy Ann’s and Claudine’s. We were very excited to be a part of her debut. This, after all, was our first (technically,) celebrity event. I was actually so eager to get things going and even asked if it is possible to keep the media out of Kathryn Bernardo’s 18th birthday. You know, to keep it personal. Turns out, it’s gonna be an ABS-CBN special.
Come Kathryn Bernardo’s 18th birthday celebration, I found myself overwhelmed by two things: the blinding bright lights and the number of personnel/marshalls the network needs to make a television special. I’ll never forget muscling my way through a group of cameramen just to get the perfect angle. It was the closest thing to me being a photojournalist really except I had a camcorder. My all access I.D. barely worked. Wrestling aside, Kathryn looked stunning in her Francis Libiran gown. As expected, Blue Leaf Filipinas was filled with the Philippine’s finest stars complementing the phenomenal styling by Michael Ruiz. Perhaps like most people including the debutant herself, I was surprised to see Marian Rivera among the guests. She looked heartbreakingly beautiful like always. It was a lot of fun. I even found myself daydreaming about how it’d feel like to be an 18 year old girl with a debut that awesome surrounded with with all those free booze and beautiful people and the media. Then again, I bet I’m better off behind the camera. By the end of the night, I found my wife sulking in one corner of our holding room. Turns out she’s a huge G2B fan herself and she wanted her selfie with Kathryn. I told her that I still have some photos of Kathryn from Mark Nicdao and I can photoshop it with her face on it. The deal made her night. =)

In 2008, we undertook the amazing worldwide franchise which was Project Runway. It was my first time doing a reality television show and Fremantle Media was there making sure we would stick to the brand and identity of the show.
This was under Solar Entertainment, the production house being Unitel Productions, and post-production done at the Engine Room.
Being the director entailed me to hire the writing crew (Head writer Mihk Vergara, and writing team of Erwin Romulo, Ramon De Veyra, Yvette Tan), which led to all of us handpicking the host (Teresa Herrera), the mentor (Jojie Lloren), and the judges (Rajo Laurel and Apples Aberin). Together, we also scoured the country looking for the contestants -- holding extensive auditions in Manila and Cebu.
The show had 15 episodes and I am extremely proud of this because I was also supervising the sound design and mix of the show. I am very happy with hiring Diego Mapa to score the entire season, also using a lot of his Eggboy x Spazzkid stuff. I was deep into the post-production of the show -- being the online editor (or co-online editor) for every one of the episodes.
This was my blood, sweat, and tears for a year and a half of my life, and I attribute my weight gain of around 30 pounds due to stress eating while doing the post-production of this show.

Amina Aranaz-Alunan, the style icon behind the Aranaz line of bags graduated with honors from Istituto Marangoni in Milan and established her business with a sound social philosophy: Aranaz bags aim to "de-ethnicize the ethnic" with the use of indigenous and eco-friendly materials sourced from the Philippines. Recently, the Rags2Riches Designer Line (RIIR), in partnership with Bounty Fresh Chicken, launched the Aranaz Mercato bag, designed by Amina and produced by the women of Payatas using recycled materials. Apart from being a socially-concious designer, Amina also juggles being a mother of three with teaching—she is one of the co-founders of School of Fashion and the Arts Manila (SoFA Manila) , where she promotes her advocacy on "fashion entrepreneurship" and encourages young individuals to dream big and build their own businesses early on.

In July 2005, former WTHR-NBC Eyewitness News in Indianapolis Desk Editor Gang Badoy founded Rock Ed Philippines, a "volunteer group that aims to rock society" through a series of alternative education projects. Rock Ed has used music, dance, graphic design, sports, literature, film, theater, cultural studies, and other alternative approaches to encourage involvement and critical thinking among the youth. Among the successful Rock Ed projectsare Rock Ed Radio (which aired its third to the last episode on October 21 via the radio station NU 107), Rock the Rehas, Rock the Riles, and RockBayan.
Just like her energy and enthusiasm, Gang's advocacy is also contagious. Gang is using her passion for music as an instrument of giving back. Music is one of the ways of expressing oneself; it is a means of voicing out so it is one of the perfect mediums to say something and stand up for a social cause. Gone are the days of apathy. Do what you love and do it while giving back.
Norman Black (Basketball Coach)
The Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles and their coach, Norman Black, proved to be the winning combination in the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 73 Senior Men's Basketball Division. On September 30, under Black's guidance, the Ateneo Blue Eagles bagged a three-peat record. Black, who was a coach in the Philippine Basketball Association before going collegiate, started the Eagles' winning streak in Season 71 when his team defeated their rival the De La Salle Green Archers in Game 2 of the 2008 finals series. The Ateneo Blue Eagles were poised for a historical three-peat in the UAAP. This was around mid-August. We knew that we had to feature him prepping up for this goal.
Carlos Celdran (Walking Man of Manila/ Performance Artist)
We probe into the forces that drive the man dubbed as the "modern-day Jose Rizal," Carlos Celdran. The performance artist, Manila walking tour guide, and activist has earned both cheers and jeers for his protest against the Church's meddling in the government's stand on Reproductive Health on September 30. The best-known advocate of the Reproductive Health Bill (RH Bill), Celdran was jailed after he stood in front of the altar during an ecumenical service at Manila Cathedral while holding a placard that read "Damaso" (referring to the abusive friar in Rizal's Noli Me Tangere) and said, "Stop getting involved in politics!"
We agree with Carlos. Times are changing fast and if we do not act quickly to show our concerns, nothing will be solved. Carlos Celdran shook the ground and made everyone notice an unheard or avoided voice. Sharing an opinion is caring about the present situation. To disagree with the Church doesn't mean you are morally wrong. It just goes to show that times are changing and that there are certain measures that can still be morally right for the good of society.
Quark Henares (Filmmaker/ Entrepreneur/ Band Member)
The spotlight is on filmmaker Quark Henares this week. At 29, after eight years in the industry, Quark now juggles many roles: director, writer, businessman, teacher, and lately, frontman for US-2 Evil-0. He joined the Philippine cinema industry at age 21 via his full-length sexy film debut, Gamitan. But, it was his second sexy film Keka that earned him the most praise from film critics, including Pulp Fiction director Quentin Tarantino in 2003.
When he's not making movies, Quark directs music videos and television commercials, writes for local publications, and lectures in various schools.

Now I had to be sure that the email was legit and that the event coordinator, Spark Inc. and I are talking about the same person. It was my first time doing a reality television show and Fremantle Media was there making sure we would stick to the brand and identity of the show. This was under Solar Entertainment, the production house being Unitel Productions, and post-production done at the Engine Room. Here’s one thing I know, Kathryn Bernardo is Philippines next big thing. The kid is a great actress and her career in television has shown potential that may surpass, if not at least equal, that of Judy Ann’s and Claudine’s. We were very excited to be a part of her debut. This, after all, was our first (technically,) celebrity event. I was actually so eager to get things going and even asked if it is possible to keep the media out of Kathryn Bernardo’s 18th birthday. You know, to keep it personal. Turns out, it’s gonna be an ABS-CBN special.
Come Kathryn Bernardo’s 18th birthday celebration, I found myself overwhelmed by two things: the blinding bright lights and the number of personnel/marshalls the network needs to make a television special. I’ll never forget muscling my way through a group of cameramen just to get the perfect angle. It was the closest thing to me being a photojournalist really except I had a camcorder. My all access I.D. barely worked. Wrestling aside, Kathryn looked stunning in her Francis Libiran gown. As expected, Blue Leaf Filipinas was filled with the Philippine’s finest stars complementing the phenomenal styling by Michael Ruiz. Perhaps like most people including the debutant herself, I was surprised to see Marian Rivera among the guests. She looked heartbreakingly beautiful like always. It was a lot of fun. I even found myself daydreaming about how it’d feel like to be an 18 year old girl with a debut that awesome surrounded with with all those free booze and beautiful people and the media. Then again, I bet I’m better off behind the camera. By the end of the night, I found my wife sulking in one corner of our holding room. Turns out she’s a huge G2B fan herself and she wanted her selfie with Kathryn. I told her that I still have some photos of Kathryn from Mark Nicdao and I can photoshop it with her face on it. The deal made her night. =)

In 2008, we undertook the amazing worldwide franchise which was Project Runway. It was my first time doing a reality television show and Fremantle Media was there making sure we would stick to the brand and identity of the show.
This was under Solar Entertainment, the production house being Unitel Productions, and post-production done at the Engine Room.
Being the director entailed me to hire the writing crew (Head writer Mihk Vergara, and writing team of Erwin Romulo, Ramon De Veyra, Yvette Tan), which led to all of us handpicking the host (Teresa Herrera), the mentor (Jojie Lloren), and the judges (Rajo Laurel and Apples Aberin). Together, we also scoured the country looking for the contestants -- holding extensive auditions in Manila and Cebu.
The show had 15 episodes and I am extremely proud of this because I was also supervising the sound design and mix of the show. I am very happy with hiring Diego Mapa to score the entire season, also using a lot of his Eggboy x Spazzkid stuff. I was deep into the post-production of the show -- being the online editor (or co-online editor) for every one of the episodes.
This was my blood, sweat, and tears for a year and a half of my life, and I attribute my weight gain of around 30 pounds due to stress eating while doing the post-production of this show.

Amina Aranaz-Alunan, the style icon behind the Aranaz line of bags graduated with honors from Istituto Marangoni in Milan and established her business with a sound social philosophy: Aranaz bags aim to "de-ethnicize the ethnic" with the use of indigenous and eco-friendly materials sourced from the Philippines. Recently, the Rags2Riches Designer Line (RIIR), in partnership with Bounty Fresh Chicken, launched the Aranaz Mercato bag, designed by Amina and produced by the women of Payatas using recycled materials. Apart from being a socially-concious designer, Amina also juggles being a mother of three with teaching—she is one of the co-founders of School of Fashion and the Arts Manila (SoFA Manila) , where she promotes her advocacy on "fashion entrepreneurship" and encourages young individuals to dream big and build their own businesses early on.

In July 2005, former WTHR-NBC Eyewitness News in Indianapolis Desk Editor Gang Badoy founded Rock Ed Philippines, a "volunteer group that aims to rock society" through a series of alternative education projects. Rock Ed has used music, dance, graphic design, sports, literature, film, theater, cultural studies, and other alternative approaches to encourage involvement and critical thinking among the youth. Among the successful Rock Ed projectsare Rock Ed Radio (which aired its third to the last episode on October 21 via the radio station NU 107), Rock the Rehas, Rock the Riles, and RockBayan.
Just like her energy and enthusiasm, Gang's advocacy is also contagious. Gang is using her passion for music as an instrument of giving back. Music is one of the ways of expressing oneself; it is a means of voicing out so it is one of the perfect mediums to say something and stand up for a social cause. Gone are the days of apathy. Do what you love and do it while giving back.
Norman Black (Basketball Coach)
The Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles and their coach, Norman Black, proved to be the winning combination in the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 73 Senior Men's Basketball Division. On September 30, under Black's guidance, the Ateneo Blue Eagles bagged a three-peat record. Black, who was a coach in the Philippine Basketball Association before going collegiate, started the Eagles' winning streak in Season 71 when his team defeated their rival the De La Salle Green Archers in Game 2 of the 2008 finals series. The Ateneo Blue Eagles were poised for a historical three-peat in the UAAP. This was around mid-August. We knew that we had to feature him prepping up for this goal.
Carlos Celdran (Walking Man of Manila/ Performance Artist)
We probe into the forces that drive the man dubbed as the "modern-day Jose Rizal," Carlos Celdran. The performance artist, Manila walking tour guide, and activist has earned both cheers and jeers for his protest against the Church's meddling in the government's stand on Reproductive Health on September 30. The best-known advocate of the Reproductive Health Bill (RH Bill), Celdran was jailed after he stood in front of the altar during an ecumenical service at Manila Cathedral while holding a placard that read "Damaso" (referring to the abusive friar in Rizal's Noli Me Tangere) and said, "Stop getting involved in politics!"
We agree with Carlos. Times are changing fast and if we do not act quickly to show our concerns, nothing will be solved. Carlos Celdran shook the ground and made everyone notice an unheard or avoided voice. Sharing an opinion is caring about the present situation. To disagree with the Church doesn't mean you are morally wrong. It just goes to show that times are changing and that there are certain measures that can still be morally right for the good of society.
Quark Henares (Filmmaker/ Entrepreneur/ Band Member)
The spotlight is on filmmaker Quark Henares this week. At 29, after eight years in the industry, Quark now juggles many roles: director, writer, businessman, teacher, and lately, frontman for US-2 Evil-0. He joined the Philippine cinema industry at age 21 via his full-length sexy film debut, Gamitan. But, it was his second sexy film Keka that earned him the most praise from film critics, including Pulp Fiction director Quentin Tarantino in 2003.
When he's not making movies, Quark directs music videos and television commercials, writes for local publications, and lectures in various schools.
