President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree, imposing economic sanctions against Turkey. The sanctions affect the imports of certain products, limit the operations of Turkish companies in Russia, and forbid Russian firms from employing Turkish staff. The Kremlin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said that it’s difficult to undo the damage to relations with Ankara. Meanwhile, Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has refused to apologize, calling instead on Russia to engage in talks to resolve the crisis. Erdogan says he cannot allow Turkey's airspace to be violated by other countries. Moscow insists that its warplane never entered the Turkish airspace.

Russia is planning to slap economic sanctions on Turkey in retaliation for the country shooting down one of its warplanes on the Turkey-Syria border.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has directed the government to come up with a series of punishing measures.
They could end up include restricting gas exports,... halting joint investment projects and partially banning food imports from Turkey.
Russia′s finance minister said the measures could even curtail commercial flights, tourism and preparations for a free trade zone between the two countries.
Earlier in the day,... President Putin complained that Russia had not received an apology from Turkey, nor any offer of compensation or promise to punish those responsible for downing the jet.
Turkish officials later rebuffed Putin demand for an apology,... saying it had no reason to say sorry.
Turkey continues to insist the plane violated its airspace - charges Moscow denies.

Since the Islamic revolution, Iran has been sanctioned by the United States many times on various pretexts.
At first Iran was denied goods it imported like spare parts for airplanes, but then the sanctions became more severe. Since 2006, six resolutions have been passed against Iran, resulting in five rounds of UN sanctions.
In 2012, the United States froze all the property of Iran's central bank and other financial institutions in the US, and the European Union's oil embargo on Iran came into effect.
The stated objective for all this was pressuring the Iranian government into halting its nuclear energy program.
At the moment, the West's tactic is to target Iran's economy, so Iran implodes. And to do that it's trying to sabotage Iran's oil industry, which for the moment, Iran's economy relies on.
Iran has, with every round of sanctions, tried to find ways to counter them, and ease the pressure on the people.
To do this it has instigated radical change in different sectors. But how successful has Iran's efforts been? That's what we'll be discussing in this episode of Iran today.

Blamed for the downing of the Malaysian airliner and the war in Ukraine, the West has been trying to punish Russia. But is it working?
The US and EU are now fighting an economic war with Russia and are determined to weaken Putin’s hold on power. The Russian economy is set to contract by 3% this year. How is Russia holding up under the sanctions and are these sanctions really about Ukraine? Or are they an attempt for the US to weaken its rival?
On this Infocus, we take a look at whether the sanctions are working. We find out how Russians are adapting under the sanctions and how many are now looking East instead of West. We also find out how popular Putin remains and how the Russians are fighting back against the US.

Putin was addressing a meeting of his presidential Security Council. He referred to the European Union's decision last month to extend its anti-Russia sanctions and the US warnings of possible new measures. He said Russians should not expect their geopolitical opponents to revise their unfriendly course in the foreseeable future. The US and the EU have imposed several rounds of anti-Russia sanctions since 20-14 over alleged involvement in the Ukraine conflict. But Putin said that Western countries that have been imposing sanctions against Russia are in fact responsible for the crisis in eastern Ukraine.

The US Senate has passed a controversial bill that contains provisions opposing the boycott, divestment and sanctions campaign against Israel.
The bill was passed under massive pressure from pro-Israel lobbies in the United States as the BDS campaign gains momentum across the world. President Barack Obama is expected to sign the provisions into law. The provisions require US negotiators to stand against any BDS move during the trade negotiations with the European Union. This comes as several groups and organizations in the European states have already supported the campaign against Israel. The BDS which initiated as a grassroots movement in 2005, aims to use economic sanctions to end Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories.
