Beatmania IIDX

beatmania IIDX (ビートマニア ツーディーエックス, Bītomania Tsūdiekkusu) is a series of rhythm video games, that was first introduced by Konami in Japan on February 26, 1999.IIDX has since spawned 23 arcade releases and 14 console releases on the Sony PlayStation 2. It is the sequel to the beatmania game series, and part of the Bemani line of music games. A PC release titled beatmania IIDX INFINITAS has been announced, and began alpha testing in September 2015.

Gameplay

Gameplay in General

In IIDX games, players recreate the musical score of songs available to them through the use of a DJ simulating controller. The player must coordinate their hands in order to hit the correct keyboard buttons, spin the turntable, or a combination of both in correspondence to color-coded notes that approach the judgement bar displayed on screen. Notes are divided on screen by columns which separate them accordingly to match the seven buttons and the turntable on the DJ simulating controller. As a result of hitting notes, different sounds are then produced throughout a songs duration. Correctly hitting notes will produce an accurate musical score, while incorrectly hitting notes will produce inaccuracies and mistakes in the music.

Yoshitaka Nishimura

Yoshitaka Nishimura (西村宜隆) (born February 9, 1982, Kyushu), better known as DJ YOSHITAKA, is a composer for Konami's line of Bemani games. DJ YOSHITAKA has been making solo songs since the release of Beatmania IIDX 11: IIDX RED, though he has had previous BEMANI involvement as a member of Osamu Migitera's Des-ROW group. He often composes for the Beatmania IIDX and the Pop'n music series, and then began composing for the Guitar Freaks & DrumMania and the Dance Dance Revolution series on 2005 and 2007, respectively. DJ YOSHITAKA still often works with Des-ROW for some Pop'n music songs. In the REFLEC BEAT series, DJ YOSHITAKA regularly appears alongside fellow composer Sota Fujimori as a double act, VENUS.

DJ YOSHITAKA's Bemani Music Foundation artist page reveals that he likes taking trips, fine days, cappuccino, Shibuya, Motorbikes, Vegetable Pancakes and people who are kind. It says that he dislikes rainy seasons and people who are cold.

Along with dj TAKA, L.E.D., Sota Fujimori, Ryu☆, kors k, and 猫叉Master, DJ YOSHITAKA is part of Beatnation Records.

Beatmania IIDX 14: Gold

Beatmania IIDX 14: Gold (stylized as beatmania IIDX14: GOLD) is the 14th game in the beatmania IIDX series of music video games. It was released in arcades by Konami on February 21, 2007. The game features over 45 new songs, some of which are unlocked over Konami's e-Amusement platform. The game instituted another hardware change for IIDX, now running on more powerful hardware using Windows XP Embedded as its operating system.

The user interface features a predominantly metallic appearance, with gold and silver accents throughout.

Gameplay

Core gameplay remained the same on Gold. A new hidden modifier, "REGUL-SPEED", locks the BPM of a song to a constant 150, but scores achieved with it turned on are not recorded. In addition, a new song folder was added, Assist Clear, for songs which were cleared using the 5-Key or Auto Scratch modifiers. Gold also utilizes less strict timing windows than previous arcade releases, utilizing more CS-like timings. Also, the ability for 2 players to play on separate difficulties was added.
