Teachers is a British television comedy-drama series created by Tim Loane and originally shown on Channel 4. The series follows a group of secondary school teachers in their daily lives.
While the first series centres heavily around probationary teacher Simon Casey (Andrew Lincoln), later series have a more balanced ensemble approach. The cast changes dramatically over time, with few original characters remaining by the fourth series. While some of these disappearances are explained, others happen between series without explanation.
The first three series are set in the fictional Summerdown Comprehensive, which merges with another school in the fourth series to form Wattkins School. The first three series were filmed at the former Merrywood Grammar School, while the fourth was filmed at the former Lockleaze school in Bristol, England.
Teachers was nominated for six BAFTA awards between 2002 and 2004, and was nominated for Best Comedy Drama at the British Comedy Awards in 2003.
In January 2005, after a muted reception to the fourth series, Channel 4 announced that Teachers would not continue for a fifth series. A short-lived U.S. version was aired in 2006.

http://www.londonschool.com/courses/london/voice-training/ - In this video by London Live TV, participants including The London School of English, discuss the importance of British accent and English pronunciation.
How good is your British accent? How good does is need to be?
Last week, one of the Voice Trainers at the London School of English, Dolly, demonstrated her voice training techniques for a London-based TV show. Our Chief Executive, Timothy Blake, then took part in a debate on the importance of accents live on their lunchtime news bulletin.
While it's undoubtedly important to use correct grammar and have a good range of vocabulary, when it comes down to the speaking, there is a lot more to it than just the right words. Accent plays a key role in communication.

Award-winning actor Idris Elba went before the Houses of Parliament and addressed the lack of diversity in British television, noting that opportunity is forcing more diverse actors to go to the United States. Elba's speech directly follows the announcement of this year's Oscar nominations in which only white actors have been nominated in both the leading and supporting categories. The 43-year-old Londoner openly addressed typecasting, where filmmakers force actors of color like himself to play “best friends” and “cop sidekick parts.” Elba's argument has been backed by fellow British actors Sir Lenny Henry, Sophie Okonedo and David Harewood, who have all argued for greater diversity in British television. “I never saw myself or my culture on TV so I stopped watching TV. Instead I decided to just go out and become TV. I had to transform the way the industry saw me. I had to climb out of the box. In other words, I didn’t go to America because I couldn’t get parts; I went to America because I was running out of parts," he said.

In 1992, she made a guest appearance on Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990) as "Tricia Kinney". She followed that with the films, Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken (1991) (inspired by "A Girl and Five Brave Horses"), Scent of a Woman (1992), Body Snatchers (1993), For Love or Money (1993) and The Three Musketeers (1993). In 1994, People magazine named her one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world. One of her most memorable moments on screen came in 1992's Scent of a Woman (1992), when she danced a tango with Al Pacino, whose character was blind.

Time Team is a British television series which has been aired on British Channel 4 from 1994. Created by television producer Tim Taylor and presented by actor Tony Robinson, each episode featured a team of specialists carrying out an archaeological dig over a period of three days, with Robinson explaining the process in layman's terms. This team of specialists changed throughout the series' run, although has consistently included professional archaeologists such as Mick Aston, Carenza Lewis, Francis Pryor and Phil Harding. The sites excavated over the show's run have ranged in date from the Palaeolithic right through to the Second World War.
In October 2012, Channel 4 announced that the final series would be broadcast in 2013. Series 20 was screened in January–March 2013 and a number of specials were screened in 2014.
A team of archaeologists, usually led by either Mick Aston or Francis Pryor (the latter usually heads Bronze Age and Iron Age digs), and including field archaeologist Phil Harding, congregate at a site, usually in the United Kingdom. The site is frequently suggested by a member of the viewing public who knows of an unsolved archaeological mystery, or who owns property that has not been excavated and is potentially interesting. Time Team uncover as much as they can about the archaeology and history of the site in three days.
At the start of the programme, Tony Robinson explains, in an opening "piece to camera", the reasons for the team's visit to the site, and during the dig he enthusiastically encourages the archaeologists to explain their decisions, discoveries and conclusions. He tries to ensure that everything is comprehensible to the archaeologically uninitiated.
Excavations are not just carried out to entertain viewers. Tony Robinson claims that the archaeologists involved with Time Team have published more scientific papers on excavations carried out in the series than all British university archaeology departments put together over the same period; and also that, as of 2013, the programme had become the biggest funder of field archaeology in the country.
