Comic book
A comic book or comicbook, also called comic magazine or simply comic, is a publication that consists of comic art in the form of sequential juxtaposed panels that represent individual scenes. Panels are often accompanied by brief descriptive prose and written narrative, usually dialog contained in word balloons emblematic of the comics art form. Although comics has some origins in 18th century Japan and 1830s Europe, comic books were first popularized in the United States during the 1930s. The first modern comic book, Famous Funnies, was released in the United States in 1933 and was a reprinting of earlier newspaper humor comic strips, which had established many of the story-telling devices used in comics. The term comic book derives from American comic books once being a compilation of comic strips of a humorous tone; however, this practice was replaced by featuring stories of all genres, usually not humorous in tone.
Structure
Comic books are reliant on their organization and appearance. Authors largely focus on the frame of the page, size, orientation, and panel positions. These characteristic aspects of comic books are necessary in conveying the content and messages of the author. The key elements of comic books include panels, balloons (speech bubbles), text (lines), and characters. Balloons are usually convex spatial containers of information that are related to a character using a tail element. The tail has an origin, path, tip, and pointed direction.

Jack Kirby
Jack Kirby (/ˈkɜːrbi/; August 28, 1917 – February 6, 1994), born Jacob Kurtzberg, was an American comic book artist, writer, and editor widely regarded as one of the medium's major innovators and one of its most prolific and influential creators.
Kirby grew up poor in New York City, and learned to draw cartoon figures by tracing characters from comic strips and editorial cartoons. He entered the nascent comics industry in the 1930s, drawing various comics features under different pen names, including Jack Curtiss, before ultimately settling on Jack Kirby. In 1940, he and writer-editor Joe Simon created the highly successful superhero character Captain America for Timely Comics, predecessor of Marvel Comics. During the 1940s, Kirby, generally teamed with Simon, created numerous characters for that company and for National Comics, later to become DC Comics.
After serving in World War II, Kirby produced work for a number of publishers, including DC, Harvey Comics, Hillman Periodicals. At Crestwood Publications he and Simon created the genre of romance comics and later founded their own short-lived comic company, Mainline Publications. Ultimately, Kirby found himself at Timely's 1950s iteration, Atlas Comics, which in the next decade became Marvel. There, in the 1960s, Kirby and writer-editor Stan Lee co-created many of the company's major characters, including the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and the Hulk. The Lee-Kirby titles garnered high sales and critical acclaim, but in 1970, feeling he had been treated unfairly, Kirby left the company for rival DC.

This is my feature film directorial debut. The project was a lifelong dream of two comic book fanatics (Milo Miller co-writer, co-producer) We spent three years writing it. I spent a year storyboarding. We shot for a year and then posted for a year. It was filmed in Cleveland on a very humble budget, and has had the good fortune of showing in festivals all over the world including Montreal's Fantasia, New York Comic Con, Cleveland International, and Santa Fe. It will be among ten films from around the globe to screen at this year's Fantastic Planet in Sydney Australia. It's been a life changing project. I was a musician/audio engineer when that shooting began, I now direct, shoot and edit for a living - big love for this generous talented cast and crew. Synopsis: David, a struggling comic book creator from Cleveland, spends his days cutting grass and his nights smoking it while desperately trying to keep his superhero fantasies alive. When Robyn, his aspiring fashion-designer girlfriend, makes him a Halloween costume of his original character Apama, it doesn't take David long to hit the streets and begin blundering towards disaster. This comic book Don Quixote is characterized by surreal flourishes, mixing dream, fantasy, and flashbacks that borrow as much from the art house as the comic shop. This is my feature film directorial debut. The project was a lifelong dream of two comic book fanatics (Milo Miller co-writer, co-producer) We spent three years writing it. I spent a year storyboarding. We shot for a year and then posted for a year. It was filmed in Cleveland on a very humble budget, and has had the good fortune of showing in festivals all over the world including Montreal's Fantasia, New York Comic Con, Cleveland International, and Santa Fe. This is my feature film directorial debut. The project was a lifelong dream of two comic book fanatics (Milo Miller co-writer, co-producer) We spent three years writing it. I spent a year storyboarding. We shot for a year and then posted for a year.
It was filmed in Cleveland on a very humble budget, and has had the good fortune of showing in festivals all over the world including Montreal's Fantasia, New York Comic Con, Cleveland International, and Santa Fe. It will be among ten films from around the globe to screen at this year's Fantastic Planet in Sydney Australia.
It's been a life changing project. I was a musician/audio engineer when that shooting began, I now direct, shoot and edit for a living - big love for this generous talented cast and crew.
Synopsis:
David, a struggling comic book creator from Cleveland, spends his days cutting grass and his nights smoking it while desperately trying to keep his superhero fantasies alive. When Robyn, his aspiring fashion-designer girlfriend, makes him a Halloween costume of his original character Apama, it doesn't take David long to hit the streets and begin blundering towards disaster.
This comic book Don Quixote is characterized by surreal flourishes, mixing dream, fantasy, and flashbacks that borrow as much from the art house as the comic shop. A midnight movie for superhero fans.

The film follows Dallas Edward Duat, a 27-year-old American every-man. Dallas constantly struggles to balance his dead-end job and lackluster marriage, to his high school sweetheart Marta, with his aspirations to be a comic book writer, alongside his co-creator and best friend, Billy Tate. In this dark zombedy, Billy and Dallas embark on a supernatural quest, with unproven ancient incantations, to cultivate their own zombii specimen. Their experiment will end in either science fiction victory, or complete and utter tragedy.
Bare bones: it is an independent coming-of-age buddy story that is seen through the lens of becoming a zombii. Not a Zombie movie, per say, but a movie with zombiis. Something that most modern undead-themed cinema neglects to explain is the phenomena that occurs within the human brain and body after being turned, be it via bite, magic, or demon possession.This progression, or rather, digression, is what our hero, Dallas, encounters over a 24 hour time period.

Often working with writing partner Kev Cecil, Andy has written for numerous highly-acclaimed comedy shows and performers, including Armando Iannucci and Miranda Hart.
He was kind enough to illustrate some cassette inlay cards for us, too (seen in this video) so get in quick with a tape order if you'd like a piece of one-off art.

This is my feature film directorial debut. The project was a lifelong dream of two comic book fanatics (Milo Miller co-writer, co-producer) We spent three years writing it. I spent a year storyboarding. We shot for a year and then posted for a year. This is my feature film directorial debut. The project was a lifelong dream of two comic book fanatics (Milo Miller co-writer, co-producer) We spent three years writing it. I spent a year storyboarding. We shot for a year and then posted for a year.
It was filmed in Cleveland on a very humble budget, and has had the good fortune of showing in festivals all over the world including Montreal's Fantasia, New York Comic Con, Cleveland International, and Santa Fe. It will be among ten films from around the globe to screen at this year's Fantastic Planet in Sydney Australia.

Synopsis:
David, a struggling comic book creator from Cleveland, spends his days cutting grass and his nights smoking it while desperately trying to keep his superhero fantasies alive. The film follows Dallas Edward Duat, a 27-year-old American every-man. Dallas constantly struggles to balance his dead-end job and lackluster marriage, to his high school sweetheart Marta, with his aspirations to be a comic book writer, alongside his co-creator and best friend, Billy Tate. In this dark zombedy, Billy and Dallas embark on a supernatural quest, with unproven ancient incantations, to cultivate their own zombii specimen. Their experiment will end in either science fiction victory, or complete and utter tragedy.
Bare bones: it is an independent coming-of-age buddy story that is seen through the lens of becoming a zombii. Not a Zombie movie, per say, but a movie with zombiis. Something that most modern undead-themed cinema neglects to explain is the phenomena that occurs within the human brain and body after being turned, be it via bite, magic, or demon possession.This progression, or rather, digression, is what our hero, Dallas, encounters over a 24 hour time period.
