Plot: Paul Raden ('Albert Dekker' (qv)), hopelessly insane son of Maxim Raden, hated owner of the Radentown mills, is in a strait jacket in a secret room in the family mansion, while the body of his father is lowered into a grave. Twenty-five years earlier, the brutal father had hurled Paul against a wall when the young boy had tried to defend his mother and, with his brain injured forever, Paul's last memory, before descending into the shadows on insanity, was his mother's agonized scream. At the graveside are Dr. Ben Saunders ('Harry Carey' (qv)), Paul's twin brother John ('Albert Dekker' (qv)) and John's wife Elaine ('Frances Farmer' (qv)). Pompey (Ernest Whitman'), the family servant who has cared for and guarded Paul and kept the family secret for a quarter of a century, watches from afar. That night Dr. Saunders tells John that his twin, who he thought dead, is alive as the father, refusing to commit him to an institution, had bribed the doctor to sign a false death certificate and then bury another child's body as Paul. John and the doctor visit Radenhouse and find Pompey strangled and Paul vanished. While they search frantically for Paul, the latter revels in his freedom and falls in love with the first girl he meets, Milly Pickens 'Susan Hayward (I)' (qv)), an unemployed mill worker. He wanders into a honky-tonk filled with dancing jitterbugs, where a pretty blonde, Peggy Nolan ('Jean Phillips (I)' (qv)), flirts with him. Her body is found the next morning near the closed-down Raden Mills. Terrorized by the second murder and the thought that a homicidal maniac is on the loose, the town goes mad with fear and greed when Dr. Saunders tricks John into offering a $5,000 reward for the killer. Milly purchases a revolver and persuades Paul, whose demented mind has forgotten the murders, to accompany her to Radenhouse on her hunch that the murderer is hiding there.

Quotes:
Mrs. Pickens: I had one of them Frenchmen living here last year. Honest to goodness every time you'd turn 'round, that Frenchman was grabbin' your hand and kissing until he'd like to pull the skin off.
[Eyeing Raden's bankroll]::Millie Pickens: Say, if I had a wad of folding dough like that I'd go right out and buy an outfit that would knock this neighborhood cockeyed!
[Not knowing Paul is the escaped serial killer, Millie gives him a gun and suggests they search the deserted Raden estate to earn the reward for his capture]::Paul Raden: You're not afraid -- at all?::Millie Pickens: For five thousand dollars, I'm not afraid of anything, not even death!

An ecosystem of sharing defines Big Data | #BigDataNYC

It’s an old business adage that data is power
. In the new world of digital business, sharing data is power.
Information that is useless to one company might be critical to another; establishing a relationship with that other company is a powerful way to draw value from otherwise
dead data. Likewise, not every company has all the tools and experience to make use of the data they collect. For them, a partnership can also help maximize the returns on their Big Data strategy.
To talk about this new world of data sharing,
John Furrier of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE
Media team, sat down with Tom Reilly and Ryan Peterson at the BigDataNYC 2015 conference. Reilly is the
CEO of Cloudera,
Inc., while Peterson is the chief solutions strategist at EMC.
From technical exercise to the real world
Big Data, and the technologies that support it, has been something of an evolving experiment. The concept is just a few years old, and yet in that time it has begun to redefine business. Only a few years ago, developers were talking about technical projects, Reilly said, but now they’re concerned with real-world use cases and finding immediate value.
This has spawned a creative revolution around working with data.
The new technologies allow companies to do things that would have been impossible before, such as engaging with a customer in real time, at the
point of interaction. This has opened up new use cases and business opportunities.
A future perspective
The phrase “living in the future, operating in the present” describes the nature of Big Data companies like EMC and Cloudera. At the crest of this wave of development, these companies play a vital role in raising the next generation of Big Data technology and businesses, Peterson said.

Customers are always asking for the next generation
of technology, but it’s the building, testing, documenting and training that’s being done right now in the present that will allow those customers to take advantage of future technologies. It is the experience of the present, shared across an ecosystem of partners, that will refine and define the future of Big Data.
