Buncheong Ware Aesthetic Exploration. The red clay tea bowl is bisqued fired first, then dipped in white porcelain slip, and glazed after the slip has dried, and then fired till the glaze melt/mature. The beauty of the ware itself will increase overtime, collecting beautiful stains oh history through its lifetime. When initially poured with water, you can see color changes in the cup itself as its porous erthenware soak in the liquid, this is part of the beauty of Dombongi Buncheong ware. And because of the porous nature of the ware, the water left in the bowl becomes cooler than room temperature over time through the evaporation of the liquid inside through the wall of the ware :)

Buncheong ware, or Punch'ong ware is a form of traditional Korean stoneware, with a bluish-green tone. Pots are coated with a white slip, and decorative designs are painted on using an iron pigment. The style emerged in the early Joseon Dynasty, largely replacing celadon in common use. It largely disappeared from Korea after the 16th century due to the popularity of white porcelains. In modern times, the style has been revived in Korea.
The Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art in Seoul, houses a permanent collection of Buncheong ware, as well as the National Museum of Korea.

Buncheong Ware Aesthetic Exploration. The red clay tea bowl is bisqued fired first, then dipped in white porcelain slip, and glazed after the slip has dried, and then fired till the glaze melt/mature. The beauty of the ware itself will increase overtime, collecting beautiful stains oh history through its lifetime. When initially poured with water, you can see color changes in the cup itself as its porous erthenware soak in the liquid, this is part of the beauty of Dombongi Buncheong ware. And because of the porous nature of the ware, the water left in the bowl becomes cooler than room temperature over time through the evaporation of the liquid inside through the wall of the ware :)
