FILM DESCRIPTION:
When her adoptive mother Joan Crawford died in 1977, erstwhile actress/author Christina Crawford and her brother Christopher were left out of Joan Crawford's will, "for reasons which are well known to them." Industryites have suggested that it may have been this posthumous act of rejection rather than an alleged lifetime of parental abuse that inspired Christina Crawford to pen her scathing autobiography Mommie Dearest. The 1981 film version of this tome was evidently meant to be taken seriously, but the operatic direction by Frank Perry and the over-the-top portrayal of Joan Crawford by Faye Dunaway (whose makeup is remarkable) has always seemed to inspire loud laughter whenever and where-ever the film is shown. According to the film (and the book that preceded it), Joan Crawford was a licentious, child-beating behemoth, who stalked and postured through life as though it was one of her own pictures-more Strait-jacket than Mildred Pierce. This is the film with the notorious "wire coat hanger" scene, just in case you need a reminder. Surprisingly, one emerges from Mommie Dearest with more sympathy for the monstrous but intensely vulnerable Crawford than for her whining daughter (played as an adult by Diana Scarwid, and as a child by Mara Hobel). Our favorite scene: Joan Crawford dazedly replacing her ailing daughter in the cast of a daytime TV soap opera.

Goddard (Mel Brooks) is betrayed by his lawyers and attempts to collect some of his prized possessions.

If a comedy is to be made from the plight of the homeless, who have to scrape through their days returning deposit bottles and cleaning car windshields to get their daily bread as the rich get richer and more heartless, it may as well be Mel Brooks' Life Stinks. The trademark Brooks humor dominates this fable about a ruthless billionaire, Goddard Bolt (Mel Brooks), who wants to obliterate a poor section of Los Angeles and build a high-tech commercial center in its place. His only problem is that he owns only half the land needed for the construction, the other half belonging to equally ruthless billionaire Vance Craswell (Jeffrey Tambor), who has his own ideas for the land. The two try to buy each other out until, finally, a deal is struck: Craswell bets that Bolt cannot survive a month on the streets as a homeless man. If Bolt makes it, he gets the property. If he doesn't, Craswell gets it. Bolt agrees and, as a poor man, he begins to feel the pain of being uprooted and alone, even meeting a friendly homeless woman, Molly (Lesley Ann Warren) with whom he forms an attachment.

Mel Brooks
Melvin James Brooks (né Kaminsky, born June 28, 1926) is an American actor, comedian, filmmaker, composer, and songwriter. He was married to Anne Bancroft from 1964 until her death in 2005.
Brooks is best known as a creator of broad film farces and comic parodies. He began his career as a comic and a writer for the early TV variety show Your Show of Shows. He became well known as part of the comedy duo with Carl Reiner in the comedy skit, The 2000 Year Old Man. He also created, with Buck Henry, the hit television comedy series, Get Smart, which ran from 1965 to 1970.
In middle age, he became one of the most successful film directors of the 1970s, with many of his films being among the top 10 money makers of the year they were released. His best-known films include The Producers, The Twelve Chairs, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie, High Anxiety, History of the World, Part I, Spaceballs, and Robin Hood: Men in Tights. A musical adaptation of his first film, The Producers, ran on Broadway from 2001 to 2007.

The 13th
"The 13th" is a single released by the British group the Cure in 1996. The song was initially released on the album Wild Mood Swings. All tracks were written by Smith/Gallup/Bamonte/Cooper/O'Donnell.
The song went to #15 on the UK Singles Chart and #44 on the US Hot 100. The song was played very few times during the Swing Tour and never again since the tour.

The music video of the song shows Robert Smith, dressed in ripped velvet dress, lying on his bed and watching a TV broadcast where he performs with The Cure.

Friday the 13th
Friday the 13th is considered an unlucky day in Western superstition. It occurs when the 13th day of the month in the Gregorian calendar falls on a Friday.
History
The fear of the number 13 has been given a scientific name: "triskaidekaphobia"; and on analogy to this the fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskevidekatriaphobia, from the Greek words Paraskeví (Παρασκευή, meaning "Friday"), and dekatreís (δεκατρείς, meaning "thirteen").
The superstition surrounding this day may have arisen in the Middle Ages, "originating from the story of Jesus' last supper and crucifixion" in which there were 13 individuals present in the Upper Room on the 13th of Nisan Maundy Thursday, the night before his death on Good Friday. While there is evidence of both Friday and the number 13 being considered unlucky, there is no record of the two items being referred to as especially unlucky in conjunction before the 19th century.
An early documented reference in English occurs in Henry Sutherland Edwards' 1869 biography of Gioachino Rossini, who died on a Friday 13th:

Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (also known on screen as Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI) is a 1986 slasher film, the sixth film in the Friday the 13th film series. The film was written and directed by Tom McLoughlin. Although the original concept called for Tommy Jarvis, the protagonist of parts IV and V, to become the new villain, the poor fan reception of Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning prompted the producers to bring back Jason Voorhees as the series' antagonist. In resurrecting Jason, McLoughlin made Jason an explicitly supernatural force for the first time in the series, depicting him as being raised from the dead via electricity; this version of Jason, an undead serial killer and more powerful superhuman, would become the standard depiction for the rest of the franchise, until 2009's remake. The film likewise broke with many other series conventions, introducing metahumor and action film elements including shootouts and car chases.

"An assassin meets his match." During production on season 4 of Cinemax's Banshee in Pittsburgh, the stunt team took a weekend to shoot a short film with the help of the inimitable Hoon Lee (Job). The short also features Justin Eaton (Antony Starr's stunt double). It was directed by Dave Macomber (Matt Rauch's stunt double) with cinematography by Mike Wilson (stunt double for Ulrich Thomsen), and was Executive Produced by Banshee's stunt coordinator, Marcus Young. Part one of my review of one of my all time favorite slashers, Jason Lives: Friday The 13th Part VI(1986) starring Thom Matthews, Jennifer Cooke, David Kagen, Renee Jones, Kerry Noonan, Darcy DeMoss, Tom Fridley, Alan Blumenfield, Matthew Faison, Ann Ryerson, Tony Goldwyn, Nancy McLoughlin, Ron Piallo, and C.J. Graham. Directed by Tom McLoughlin. (Note: Jennifer Cooke Plays Megan Not Lizabeth..My Mistake..) Trivia The movie was filmed in Camp Daniel Morgan, Covington, Georgia, a suburb about 30 minutes outside of Atlanta. The shots of Jason getting the propeller in his neck were shot in the director's parents' swimming pool. The work print version, currently circulating as a bootleg, contains the sheriff's backbreaking death in its entirety. The ending is also slightly altered; it excludes the profanity Tommy spouts at Jason, and the ensuing fight between Tommy and Jason both above and below the lake's surface is longer. Also after Megan rescues Tommy and shoves the boat's propeller into Jason's neck, the shot of the gore spilling into the water is eliminated Melanie Kinnaman, who starred in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning as Pam, actually signed on to reprise her role for this film. However, the producers decided to go in a new direction for this film, which excluded Kinnaman's character. Director Tom McLoughlin took home some props from the movie including, Jason's tombstone (which is sitting outside of his house made to look like Jason is buried in his yard) and his casket (which sits in his house). The DVD box set includes a scene where he shows off these props at his home. Filming lasted 40 days. Though not credited as a stuntman, C.J. Graham did all his own Jason stunts in the film, including being yanked by wires during gunshot scenes and being set on fire in the climactic scene. Nancy McLoughlin who had a role in the film as Lizabeth is the director's wife The hands of Tommy Jarvis opening Jason's casket were actually director Tom McLoughlin's hands. -

"An assassin meets his match." During production on season 4 of Cinemax's Banshee in Pittsburgh, the stunt team took a weekend to shoot a short film with the help of the inimitable Hoon Lee (Job). The short also features Justin Eaton (Antony Starr's stunt double). It was directed by Dave Macomber (Matt Rauch's stunt double) with cinematography by Mike Wilson (stunt double for Ulrich Thomsen), and was Executive Produced by Banshee's stunt coordinator, Marcus Young. Surprisingly, one emerges from Mommie Dearest with more sympathy for the monstrous but intensely vulnerable Crawford than for her whining daughter (played as an adult by Diana Scarwid, and as a child by Mara Hobel). Our favorite scene: Joan Crawford dazedly replacing her ailing daughter in the cast of a daytime TV soap opera.

Goddard (Mel Brooks) is betrayed by his lawyers and attempts to collect some of his prized possessions.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
If a comedy is to be made from the plight of the homeless, who have to scrape through their days returning deposit bottles and cleaning car windshields to get their daily bread as the rich get richer and more heartless, it may as well be Mel Brooks' Life Stinks. The trademark Brooks humor dominates this fable about a ruthless billionaire, Goddard Bolt (Mel Brooks), who wants to obliterate a poor section of Los Angeles and build a high-tech commercial center in its place. His only problem is that he owns only half the land needed for the construction, the other half belonging to equally ruthless billionaire Vance Craswell (Jeffrey Tambor), who has his own ideas for the land. The two try to buy each other out until, finally, a deal is struck: Craswell bets that Bolt cannot survive a month on the streets as a homeless man. If Bolt makes it, he gets the property. If he doesn't, Craswell gets it. Bolt agrees and, as a poor man, he begins to feel the pain of being uprooted and alone, even meeting a friendly homeless woman, Molly (Lesley Ann Warren) with whom he forms an attachment.

During production on season 4 of Cinemax's Banshee in Pittsburgh, the stunt team took a weekend to shoot a short film with the help of the inimitable Hoon Lee (Job). The short also features Justin Eaton (Antony Starr's stunt double). It was directed by Dave Macomber (Matt Rauch's stunt double) with cinematography by Mike Wilson (stunt double for Ulrich Thomsen), and was Executive Produced by Banshee's stunt coordinator, Marcus Young.

Part one of my review of one of my all time favorite slashers, Jason Lives: Friday The 13th Part VI(1986) starring Thom Matthews, Jennifer Cooke, David Kagen, Renee Jones, Kerry Noonan, Darcy DeMoss, Tom Fridley, Alan Blumenfield, Matthew Faison, Ann Ryerson, Tony Goldwyn, Nancy McLoughlin, Ron Piallo, and C.J. Graham.

Trivia
The movie was filmed in Camp Daniel Morgan, Covington, Georgia, a suburb about 30 minutes outside of Atlanta.
The shots of Jason getting the propeller in his neck were shot in the director's parents' swimming pool.
The work print version, currently circulating as a bootleg, contains the sheriff's backbreaking death in its entirety. The ending is also slightly altered; it excludes the profanity Tommy spouts at Jason, and the ensuing fight between Tommy and Jason both above and below the lake's surface is longer. Also after Megan rescues Tommy and shoves the boat's propeller into Jason's neck, the shot of the gore spilling into the water is eliminated
Melanie Kinnaman, who starred in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning as Pam, actually signed on to reprise her role for this film. However, the producers decided to go in a new direction for this film, which excluded Kinnaman's character.
Director Tom McLoughlin took home some props from the movie including, Jason's tombstone (which is sitting outside of his house made to look like Jason is buried in his yard) and his casket (which sits in his house). The DVD box set includes a scene where he shows off these props at his home.
Filming lasted 40 days.
Though not credited as a stuntman, C.J. Graham did all his own Jason stunts in the film, including being yanked by wires during gunshot scenes and being set on fire in the climactic scene.
Nancy McLoughlin who had a role in the film as Lizabeth is the director's wife
The hands of Tommy Jarvis opening Jason's casket were actually director Tom McLoughlin's hands.
