This is a fifteen minute film of Aylesbury town centre.
I filmed these scenes in Digital Cinema, because I think it's important to keep a high quality record of everyday life for future generations to look back on.
I did intend to film Kingsbury Square and Cambridge Street, but ran out of time. They'll have to be filmed on another day for part 2.
Just to note. I was actually approached by two members of Bucks County Council staff who asked me for some ID, and wanted to know why I was filming, and went on to tell me that I needed written permission to film in the town centre. I politely declined to show any ID, and explained that you don't need permission from anybody to film in public. The two men then walked off, and that was the end of the matter, although I was half expecting to be confronted by police throughout the rest of the filming...
Just to reiterate, it is NOT an offence to film or take photos in public, however 'professional' your equipment may look... Cheers!

In 2007 I visited the disused Reg Maxwell swimming pool and gym in Aylesbury, Bucks. I was shocked by what I found. Some six years after closing, the power was on, the lights blazing, the ventilation fans spinning... So this is where my Council Tax goes!

Aylesbury (
/ˈeɪlzbri/) is the county town of Buckinghamshire in South East England. However the town also falls into a notional geographical region known as the South Midlands an area that ecompasses the north of the South East, and the southern extremities of the East Midlands, and the western portion of the East of England. In the 2001 census the Aylesbury Urban Area, which includes Bierton, Fairford Leys, Stoke Mandeville and Watermead, had a population of 69,021, which included 56,392 for the Aylesbury civil parish.
The town name is of Old English origin. Its first recorded name Æglesburgh is thought to mean "Fort of Aegel", though who Aegel was is not recorded. Since earliest records there have been 57 variations of the name. Excavations in the town centre in 1985 found an Iron Age hillfort dating from the early 4th century BC. The town is sited on an outcrop of Portlandian limestone which accounts for its prominent position in the surrounding landscape, which is largely clay. Aylesbury was a major market town in Anglo-Saxon times, famous in addition as the burial place of Saint Osyth, whose shrine attracted pilgrims. The Early English parish church of St. Mary (which has many later additions) has a crypt beneath. Once thought to be Anglo-Saxon, it is now recognised as being of the same period as the medieval chapel above. At the Norman Conquest, the king took the manor of Aylesbury for himself, and it is listed as a royal manor in the Domesday Book, 1086.

David Bowie ( /ˈboʊ.i/ BOH-ee; born David Robert Jones on 8 January 1947) is an English musician, actor, record producer and arranger. A major figure for over four decades in the world of popular music, Bowie is widely regarded as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s. He is known for his distinctive voice and the intellectual depth and eclecticism of his work.
Bowie first caught the eye and ear of the public in July 1969, when his song "Space Oddity" reached the top five of the UK Singles Chart. After a three-year period of experimentation he re-emerged in 1972 during the glam rock era with the flamboyant, androgynous alter ego Ziggy Stardust, spearheaded by the hit single "Starman" and the album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Bowie's impact at that time, as described by biographer David Buckley, "challenged the core belief of the rock music of its day" and "created perhaps the biggest cult in popular culture." The relatively short-lived Ziggy persona proved merely one facet of a career marked by continual reinvention, musical innovation and striking visual presentation.

This is a fifteen minute film of Aylesbury town centre. I filmed these scenes in Digital Cinema, because I think it's important to keep a high quality record of everyday life for future generations to look back on. I did intend to film Kingsbury Square and Cambridge Street, but ran out of time. They'll have to be filmed on another day for part 2. Just to note. I was actually approached by two members of Bucks County Council staff who asked me for some ID, and wanted to know why I was filming, and went on to tell me that I needed written permission to film in the town centre. I politely declined to show any ID, and explained that you don't need permission from anybody to film in public. The two men then walked off, and that was the end of the matter, although I was half expecting to be c... -

I filmed these scenes in Digital Cinema, because I think it's important to keep a high quality record of everyday life for future generations to look back on.
I did intend to film Kingsbury Square and Cambridge Street, but ran out of time. They'll have to be filmed on another day for part 2.
Just to note. Bucks has dropped from 11th to the 44th best place to live from 138 regions across the UK in a new study.
That’s the verdict of a detailed index which ranked the county as the 44th best place to live in the UK, a major drop on just two years ago.
The uSwitch Best Places to Live in The UK Quality of Life Index assessed 138 UK regions for 26 different lifestyle factors including working hours, life expectancy, hours of sunshine, food and energy bills, disposable income and more.
And Bucks has dropped 33 places to 44th in the overall table from its ranking in the last study back in 2013.
Former index leaders Solihull is now second place behind Edinburgh which has rocketed 97 places from 2013 to the number one spot in 2015.
Neighbouring Hertfordshire is ranked third, the same ranking it achieved in 2013.
Down in 138th place and ranked the worst place to live in the UK was the region of Bradford, Yorkshire and The Humber.
Ann Robinson, director of consumer policy at uSwitch.com, said the report reveals ‘vast differences in the quality of life that many people across the UK are experiencing’.
She said: “Despite a buoyant UK economy, millions of people in this country aren’t feeling the benefits. We shouldn’t kid ourselves that it’s getting better for everyone out there.
“The reality is that millions of British households are still facing huge financial pressures, with wages barely covering higher living costs. And with talk of interest rates rising, any hope that those financial pressures might ease seems a forlorn one.
“It’s more important than ever that households take an honest look at their household budgets and see if there are savings that can be made. Simply by switching energy suppliers on a regular basis, hundreds of pounds could be shaved off the annual bill. Our quality of life is important and even minor changes could have a positive impact on our standard of living.”

The Villa is maintained to a high standard by our locally based Management Company who also provide a 24 hour emergency helpline. It will be cleaned before and after your stay.
