Peru (i/pəˈruː/; Spanish: Perú [peˈɾu]; Quechua: Piruw [pɪɾʊw];Aymara: Piruw [pɪɾʊw]), officially the Republic of Peru (Spanish:
República del Perú ), is a country in western South America. It is bordered in the north by Ecuador and Colombia, in the east by Brazil, in the southeast by Bolivia, in the south by Chile, and in the west by the Pacific Ocean. Peru is an extremely biodiverse country with habitats ranging from the arid plains of the Pacific coastal region in the west to the peaks of the Andes mountains vertically extending from the north to the southeast of the country to the tropical Amazon Basin rainforest in the east with the Amazon river.
Peruvian territory was home to ancient cultures spanning from the Norte Chico civilization in Caral, one of the oldest in the world, to the Inca Empire, the largest state in Pre-Columbian America. The Spanish Empire conquered the region in the 16th century and established a Viceroyalty with its capital in Lima, which included most of its South American colonies. Ideas of political autonomy later spread throughout Spanish America and Peru gained its independence, which was formally proclaimed in 1821. After the battle of Ayacucho, three years after proclamation, Peru ensured its independence. After achieving independence, the country remained in recession and kept a low military profile until an economic rise based on the extraction of raw and maritime materials struck the country, which ended shortly before the war of the Pacific. Subsequently, the country has undergone changes in government from oligarchic to democratic systems. Peru has gone through periods of political unrest and internal conflict as well as periods of stability and economic upswing.
Abraham Lincoln (i/ˈeɪbrəhæm ˈlɪŋkən/; February 12, 1809 – April 15, 1865) was the 16th President of the United States, serving from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. Lincoln led the United States through its Civil War—its bloodiest war and its greatest moral, constitutional, and political crisis. In doing so, he preserved the Union, abolished slavery, strengthened the federal government, and modernized the economy.
Born in Hodgenville, Kentucky, Lincoln grew up on the western frontier in Kentucky and Indiana. Largely self-educated, he became a lawyer in Illinois, a Whig Party leader, and a member of the Illinois House of Representatives, in which he served for twelve years. Elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1846, Lincoln promoted rapid modernization of the economy through banks, tariffs, and railroads. Because he had originally agreed not to run for a second term in Congress, and because his opposition to the Mexican–American War was unpopular among Illinois voters, Lincoln returned to Springfield and resumed his successful law practice. Reentering politics in 1854, he became a leader in building the new Republican Party, which had a statewide majority in Illinois. In 1858, while taking part in a series of highly publicized debates with his opponent and rival, Democrat Stephen A. Douglas, Lincoln spoke out against the expansion of slavery, but lost the U.S. Senate race to Douglas.

roasted corn on the gas stove easy chata chat fhata fhat recipe Maize (called corn in some countries) is a member of the grass family Poaceae. It is a cereal grain that was first grown by people in ancient Central America. It is now the third most important cereal crop in the world. Maize is a leafy stalk whose kernels have seeds inside. Russian/Eng/Nat A man threw himself to his death from a nine story building in the Georgian capital Tbilisi because he could no longer bear being unemployed. The emergency services spent two hours trying to persuade 39-year-old Viktor Setashko not to jump but in vain. Setashko, a maths teacher, lost his job two years ago when the Russian school he worked at in Tbilisi closed. The former Soviet republic of Georgia is in a deep financial crisis. Unemployment has rocketed since the break-up of the Soviet Union and wages are frighteningly low. Victor Setashko couldn't bear it any more. Plagued by poverty and his inability to find a job, he plunged last weekend to his death from a nine story building in downtown Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. Officials spent hou...
June 5, 2016 In observance of World Environment Day and the 7th anniversary of the Bagua Massacre (June 5th) and on the day of Peru's historic (and terrifying) presidential election runoff, we'll look back the tragic event described as "the Amazon's Tiananmen Square." Journalist Bill Weinberg will speak on how the US-Peru Free Trade Agreement led to the massacre and an indigenous uprising throughout the Peruvian Amazon. In 1994, the passage of NAFTA and consequent push to privatize peasant and indigenous lands led to the Zapatista uprising in Chiapas. In 2009, this drama played out again in Peru, as the Andean nation entered a free trade agreement with Washington. President Alan Garcia issued sweeping decrees to turn the vast indigenous territories of the Amazon over to the oil and resou...

Peru – a land of extremes and intrigue – principally known for being home to the most important archaeological site in all of the Americas, offers in reality so much more. Its landscapes range from high Andean peaks, to sultry Amazon rainforests, from high altitude deserts and wild windswept coasts. Of course its great to travel with the Incas from Cusco to the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu, but its also possible to get off the beaten track, to explore remote ruins of the cloud warriors in the north, or afro-Peruvian beats along the pacific coast. Most of all it’s a diverse country that offers something for everyone. But for many, a trip to Peru will begin in Cusco. As the ancient Inca capital, and the political power base in colonial times, Cusco has its fair share of sites. Sitting in a na...
In Cusco, and the Sacred Valley, magnificent ruins await the adventurous traveler. The most famous of all is Machu Picchu. Cusco is the former capital of the Inca Empire of the Sun. Since the 16th century, Spanish colonial buildings were built atop former Inca Palaces, of which only the foundations remain. Examples in the central Plaza de Armas are the Cusco Cathedral and La Compañia church. Another striking example is Qorikancha, the former golden courtyard of the Temple of the Sun. The Spanish used stones from Sacsayhuaman, an Inca stronghold overlooking the city. In the Urubamba Valley, or Sacred Valley, visitors can see the mysterious Moray Terraces and the pre-Inca Salt Mines of Maras. Ollantaytambo is a living Inca city and its towering ruins form the start of the Inca Trail to Ma...

The long lost, forgotten cities of South America always were there in people’s imagination. In Peru we can dream ourselves back into the empire of the Incas, into the age of the Sun God and the ruthless conquistadors. We can travel the 1000 year old Inca trail, travel through the Sacred Valley and take a walk in the amazing ruins of Machu Picchu. We can meet kechua and uro indians, we can buy their traditional clothing and listen to their songs and music. From an airplaine, we can try to solve the secret of the Nazca lines, we can take a train to the Altiplano, we can travel through the paradise of the Paracas Paninsula on boat, we can take a look at the monuments of Lima and Cuzco, and follow Thor Heyerdahl’s path, when we sit into a boat on the Titicaca lake. -------------- Watch more t...
License Video: dissolve.com/products?media_type=video&producer;=Pete+R&sort;_by_date=true Peru is hands down my most favorite country in South America. There's so much to do here other than Machu Picchu. First I started off going to the other old cities in the North in Trujillo, spend a few days relaxing in Huachaco, and then a full blown hiking and climbing mountains in Huaraz for 2 weeks. Huaraz is by far the best place to do alpine trekking and mountaineering second to only the Himalayas. The alpines here are stunning and not too difficult to climb. In Huaraz, I went to Laguna 69, summited Mateo, trekked Santa Cruz independently and went way up to 5000m to see a glacier. I could spend like a month just in Huaraz. It's like a little Kathmandu here but with much less tourists! After Hua...

I didn't know much about Ecuador except the Galapagos islands so as I arrived in Quito, my initial planned was to be in the country for 2 weeks and move on to Peru. What I did not realize though was the how much more to Ecuador than it is advertise. Did you know that there are more bird species in Ecaudor than in North America and Europe combined!? Did you know that Ecuador has one of the most concentrated numbers of volcano in an area!? Did you know that there are so many volcanos here, you can be busy hiking them for weeks!? Did you know that you can go off and hike 3 - 4 volcanoes right from Quito and came back and sleep in the city? Me neither! Ecuador is truly a hikers' and nature lover's paradise! Instead of spending only 2 weeks, I spent a whole month traveling around Ecuador. I ...

https://www.expedia.com/Trujillo.d3537.Destination-Travel-Guides Trujillo is known as the Peruvian Capital of Culture. This Spanish colonial city in the northern desert of Peru is a vibrant place, with colorful architecture and proud Latino traditions. The surrounding desert coast is dotted with the ancient ruins of lost civilizations. Some 2,000 years ago, long before the first Incas arrived, the Moche people and later the Chimú, managed to cultivate the arid Moche Valley and build thriving cities such as Chan Chan, made entirely from adobe bricks. These pre-Columbian civilizations also created the mighty Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Moon, wove reed boats for fishing, dug canals for irrigation and designed refined jewelry and pottery.
