Anny Ondra (15 May 1903 – 28 February 1987) was a Czech film actress whose husband was German boxing great Max Schmeling. She was born Anna Sophie Ondráková in Tarnów, Galicia, Austria–Hungary, now Poland, and died in Hollenstedt near Harburg, Germany.
Maximillian Adolph Otto Siegfried "Max" Schmeling (September 28, 1905 – February 2, 2005) was a German boxer who was heavyweight champion of the world between 1930 and 1932. His two fights with Joe Louis in 1936 and 1938 were worldwide cultural events because of their national associations.
Starting his professional career in 1924, Schmeling came to the United States in 1928 and, after a ninth-round technical knockout of Johnny Risko, became a sensation. He became the first to win the heavyweight championship (at that time vacant) by disqualification in 1930, after opponent Jack Sharkey knocked him down with a low blow in the fourth round. Max retained his crown successfully in 1931 by a t.K.o victory over Young Stribling. A rematch in 1932 with Sharkey saw the American gaining the title from Schmeling by a controversial fifteen-round split decision. In 1933, Schmeling lost to Max Baer by a tenth-round TKO. The loss left people believing that Schmeling was past his prime. Meanwhile, Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party took over control in Germany, and Schmeling came to be viewed as a 'Nazi puppet.'
Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock, KBE (13 August 1899 – 29 April 1980) was an English film director and producer, often nicknamed "The Master of Suspense". He pioneered many elements of the suspense and psychological thriller genres. He had a successful career in British cinema with both silent films and early talkies and became renowned as England's best director. Hitchcock moved to Hollywood in 1939 and became a US citizen in 1955.
Over a career spanning half a century, Hitchcock fashioned for himself a recognisable directorial style. His stylistic trademarks include the use of camera movement that mimics a person's gaze, forcing viewers to engage in a form of voyeurism. In addition, he framed shots to maximise anxiety, fear, or empathy, and used innovative forms of film editing. His work often features fugitives on the run alongside "icy blonde" female characters. Many of Hitchcock's films have twist endings and thrilling plots featuring depictions of murder and other violence. Many of the mysteries, however, are used as decoys or "MacGuffins" that serve the films' themes and the psychological examinations of their characters. Hitchcock's films also borrow many themes from psychoanalysis and sometimes feature strong sexual overtones. He became a highly visible public figure through interviews, movie trailers, cameo appearances in his own films, and the ten years in which he hosted the television program Alfred Hitchcock Presents. In 1978, film critic John Russell Taylor described Hitchcock as "the most universally recognizable person in the world", and "a straightforward middle-class Englishman who just happened to be an artistic genius."

When Alfred Hitchcock decided to shoot his thriller 'Blackmail' in newfangled sound as well as a silent version, he was faced with a number of dilemmas. One of the biggest problems was with his leading lady, the Polish-Czech Anny Ondra, who had not been employed for the authenticity of her English accent. This is the sound test that Hitchcock made. 1935 - Schaukampf -- Wirkungstreffer - Komoedie -- Max Schmeling mit Scheinwerfer -- Buehne Revue mit Anny Ondra
We are still in 1936, Anny and Max are happy. They have courage met Adolf Hitler and talk with him not only about Goebbels' movies... Same scene you can see in different version with Peta Wilson in this playlist.
One of Ondra-Lamac classics' with Hans Söhnker as Hans and Anny as his wife Ingeborg. In these times in news they wrote about "new Annie", because she used a new style for herself. More adult, but still sexy. And also this movie was the only one with good review by Joseph Goebbels.
What a piece of gem! Part of documentary Shepperton Babylon (2005).

The saddest day of my life
The saddest day of my life
The saddest day of my life
The saddest day of my life
Is when she left me with a broken heart
I was feeling the pain, the pain, the pain
The saddest day in my life
Is when she left me with a broken heart
I was going insane, yes
Try to erase, all the memories
They're the ones they gon' see
If I could forget, all about the past
How long will this go on?
The saddest day in my life
Is when she left me with a broken heart
I was feeling the pain, the pain, the pain
The saddest day in my life
Is when she left me with a broken heart
I was going insane, I
I wish that my thoughts could rewind the hands of time
Then we would be so happy
What if my dreams never meant to be
Then I'd be living in misery, girl
The saddest day in my life
Is when she left me with a broken heart
I was feeling the pain, oh
The saddest day in my life
Is when she left me with a broken heart
I was going insane, I
Broken heart is hard to mend
I'll be your lover, I'll be your friend
To every start there is an end
I wanna be forever, baby
The saddest day in my life
Is when she left me with a broken heart
I was feeling the pain, oh baby
The saddest day in my life
Is when she left me with a broken heart
I was going insane, I
I know you erase all the memories
They're the ones they gon' see
If I could forget, all about the past
How long will this go on?
Yes, the saddest day is my life
Is when she left me with a broken heart
I was feeling the pain, oh baby
The saddest day in my life
Is when she left me with a broken heart
