Cataract Surgery Steps and Precautions #1. Please put on the full-bodied operation gown that has been provided for you. #2. Please put on the operation hat The hat is designed to keep eye drops from rolling down your cheeks into your ears. Please make sure it covers your ears properly. #3. We will now apply anesthetic eye drops. These drops are designed to decrease feeling in your eyes. Please note that you may still feel the sensation of pressure throughout the operation. #4. Lie down on the surgical bed. The nurses will lead you to the surgical bed. Lie down on the bed. #5. Place your hands on your stomach. Do not move your hands, as surgical equipment used during the operation will be placed on your hands. #6. We will now apply sterilizing eye drops and sterilize the area around your eyes. Remember you will still feel the sensation of pressure. #7. We will then place an OP drape over your eyes a.) Open both your eyes at the same time even if only one of your eyes is covered. b.) Take a deep breath. Relax and continue to breathe. #7. Stare at the light Stare at the ‘-‘ light at the bottom with your both eyes together. #8. Take a deep breath and stare forward. Do not hold your breath during the operation. When the surgical equipment is inserted, look straightforward and try not to follow the equipment. #9. Finish the operation After the artificial lenses are inserted, the operation will be finished. The nurses will take the cover off of your face. Throughout the operation you will be coherent and in constant contact with one of our doctors at Eyereum. Remember to respond only verbally to the doctor’s questions. Keep your head and body relaxed and still. Please do not worry, this operation is less painful than you think.
